What's new

Pakistan with the least dropped catches per Test match, second-lowest percentage of drops in 2017

Maybe the bowlers don't create enough chances as other teams, let's also not forget UAE pitches.

India is so dismissal it's sad, clearly we need to improve.

Vijay, Kohli and Dhawan have dropped a majority of them in slips. Very poor slip fielding.

I swear i would have thought Pakistan would be top of that list lol. To be fair to India despite having a large number of drop catches they did play a lot more games as well

The (catches taken +catches dropped)/number of tests would be a good indicator of chances created

The numbers are
India = 13.x
Pakistan = 11.x
Australia = 13.0
SA = 13.0
Eng = 12.x
NZ = 13.x
WI = 11.5

Interestingly, Pakistan also created the least chances in the top nations and NZ/Ind the most.

If they field like they did yesterday more often no one will be surprised at this stat

And most of the drops of which bowler?

Our catching has been pathetic. Almost 3 dropped catches per match. If anything Indian bowlers are unlucky and not Aamir.

Misleading stats - I can explain why. YK retired in April last year, no way PAK can be top in this list since.

A catch is dropped, when it’s touched in flight - for that fielders has to attempt it or the ball has to reach the fielder. First bounce dollies are not drop, neither skiers dropped in between 2 fielders untouched.

I wrote in in other thread - PAK cordon stands way behind the required positioning for a particular wicket, and PAK WK doesn’t move much unless it’s regulation - hence that % is so good.

If anyone tells me that having WSaha with gloves, IND had a worse % almost by double against a team with Sarfraz with gloves - then cricket must have changed since I started watching.
