Pakistan Women have won the toss and have opted to bat

Bismah Maroof: We'd like to bat first. It is a dry wicket, won't change much so we'd like to put up a total. It is unlucky she is not here with us, but this is an opportunity for someone else to perform. We have the confidence because we won against India last time but conditions are different here.

Harmanpreet Kaur: We wanted to bat because these wickets are a bit tricky. She will be fine but we have added an extra batter for today - Harleen in there, Shikha misses out. I think these wickets will help us, we are a very good bowling side.

India will be without their star opener Smriti Mandhana for this opening game after she sustained a finger injury. Nevertheless, there is plenty of depth on the batting front, with big hitters like Harmanpreet Kaur, Pooja Vastarkar and Deepti Sharma in their middle-order, alongside elegant stroke makers like Jemimah and Harleen Deol. They will also be bolstered by the addition of U19 victors Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh to their side. Bowling however could be an area of concern, and a lot might depend of how a returning Shikha Pandey fares at this WC.

However, these high octane clashes against historical rivals are more a matter of who can hold their nerve under pressure, and who can emerge as a new hero for an entire nation. Pakistan have a good mix of youth and experience, with stalwarts like Bismah Maroof, Javeria Khan and Sidra Amin still there to shepherd the other young talents of the squad.

As per the lady commie Pakistan has the worst dot ball percentage in the competition. 45%.

Pakistan is showing positive approach. trying to hit every ball. Seems like conscious intent.

Pretty decent powerplay for pakistan. This is a used pitch so chasing may be difficult on this dry pitch.

Pretty interesting to watch women's T20. Looks like there is even contest between bat and ball.

Pakistan the favorites. Just like Nawaz, Afridi, Ifthikar, Asif Ali, Ayesha Naseem came out of syllabus today for India.

Excellent batting by Ayesha and Bismah. Let's go for the win!

150 will be pretty challenging. India have the resources to fight fire with fire. Will be an interesting match.

Mandhana is not there, Mithali has retried and Hamanpreet is unreliable. Will be tough.

Yes, Mandhana's absense is a big blow. But Jemima, Richa and Shefali are exciting players. I still think India should be able to pull it off.

Jemima cant loft a ball to save her life, just an accumulator she is

Richa is the power hitter in India more than Kaur. She hit like 9 sixes in the practice game as well. Also thrashed Australian bowling on a few occasions in the recent series

There's the breakthrough that Pakistan needed.

Pathetic umpiring standards. yeterday we had a bump ball given caught by 3rd umpire and now a 7 ball over.

Ayesha Naseem is important for Pak women’s cricket. Hardly any support for the team. With some dynamic players it will help them get attention. Only Indians seem to be following this. Do we still debate about the cricket economy?

India Women need 55 runs in 36 balls

Tough equation

Have you ever watched her bat? I have seen the 43 ball 92 in The Hundred and it was great. She may not be muscular but is gifted with timing.

Haven't find anything special in her as a T20 batter

I saw her many times, she just pokes ball through gaps to accumulate runs majority of times with odd boundaries here and there

Exceptional catch!

If Pakistan women can play this well without support, imagine what happens when they get financial and public support. Talent is definitely there.

This Nida Dar looks pretty useless every time I watch her.

Pathetic over.

Bowling wide of off stump with nobody on the off-side boundary.

It's really a contest between an elite team vs a mid table one. Despite the huffing and puffing, the elite team will always rise to the top.

Disappointing bowling by India despite the win.

Pakistan fought hard. Well done.

Jemimah Rodrigues packs a punch in all her shots.
Poor fielding and a couple of bad overs let down Pakistan.
