Let’s look at the scenario for an average player in the reworked domestic format, where every team is assured eight games in the Ranji Trophy. On an average, a player plays, say, six games. That’s 24 days of work, which gives him Rs 2,40,000. Throw in 26 more days (for easy calculation) of cricket in the Ranji Trophy limited overs games (Rs 10,000/day for one-dayers and Rs 5000/day for T20s), the Duleep Trophy, the Deodhar Trophy, the Irani Cup and the other tournaments, and the player earns another Rs 2,60,000, rounding it off at Rs 5 lakh.
Remember, the IPL boy still earns at least Rs 10 lakh if he gets a contract – not necessarily a game – with one of the teams.

The suggestion some seasons ago that 20% of a contracted player wage would be payable only if the team qualifies for the Champions League was promptly shot down by Indian players.

Besides the comfort of assured payments, there are other benefits too. The IPL mandates that at least 50% of prize money is shared with players. Any trading or transfer can only take place with the consent of the player, and his wage can't be lowered during the contract period under any circumstance.

The peripherals are equally enticing: players are entitled to business-class travel, five-star hotel stay, and a $100 daily allowance. The franchise picks up the service-tax liability, and in the case of foreign players, contributes 10% of the salary to their national boards. Players lose out on minor amounts when they miss games due to injury (50% of the match fee, which is an individual calculation based on their auction fee divided by the number of matches they play) and for non-selection.

Dude, I am telling you that a normal uni graduate gets 40,000 starting wages. These players come from village backgrounds and for some of them a 10,000 wage is good too.
They get bonuses in FC Match, tournaments and especially if their performance increase they get a contract from teams which make them earn around 1 Lakh which is more than enough.

Woww.. you Lahoris must be rich. I am an average Delhite, and my electricity bill never crossed 10k for a month !

Average Pakistani educated person earns 50,000.

Massive difference.

A Domestic cricketer can earn well for 15 years after which he is pretty much jobless as opposed to those educated people who will get promoted later on.

Pakistan players are paid peanuts. And their board is not giving their players permission to play in our leagues.

That's the problem I have with PCB. They are ruining players by these horrendous steps just to keep their ego ahead of BCB? Pathetic!

Its understandable why PCB shut the door on BPL, and to be honest, it did dent the league a bit as Pakistani player are star attraction. However, doing the same with Dhaka premier league is quite meaningless because all that is happening is that they are shutting their own players from a good income, and experience.

I dont think the DPL has anything to lose because we brought over a handful of SL players, other than the national pace bowlers as well as those who are currently playing in CLT20 though many of them like tharanga/sangakkara/mendis are expected to come back to play in this league. On the other hand, players like Brendan taylor, styris, Mahmood, Chigumbura and also Afghan players have joined in to play. Infact, its a blessing in disguise because we now have a wider variety of players and not just 3/4 Pakistanis per side.

Yes a normal uni graduate gets that. But he is not able to feed his family and educate them. Why you think most of them are from villages? Thats quite uneducated to think like that. 10k wage is good lol. Even drivers/servants want at least 10k for full time nowadays and you have 2-3 of them working in a family. 10k is nothing. We have a house in Pakistan that we are not using only when we go to Pakistan. Our monthly bill is 2-3k without using. Never mind using ac, fridge freezers or anything.

Like I said 40k a few years back was sufficient now petrol is over 100 rupees a liter. You can not expect Proffessional cricketers who will have a certain lifestyle to live like an average Pakistani.

Johar town area. Ground floor of a house only is at least 15k again upto 20k. What is left. Unless you live in smaller towns then yeah 40k is not bad

it's pretty bad, i feel sorry for the cricketer, 40,000 is quite less in Pakistan, you need to think about the housing cost and the transportation. Their salaries need to be at least one lakh rupees.

Players salaries in a country will depend on the overall economical situation in the country also on the cricket board.

It is clear that PCB does not take care of its first class cricketers unlike the boards of some other countries. PCB should come out with facts to show how they spend their earning and what portion of their earning is shared with first class cricketers.

Nothing exciting - but a decent living by Pakistan national average standards I suppose. A lot of first class cricketers also rely on the £8-15K they can pick up playing league cricket in England.
