KARACHI/NEW DELHI: The body of the Pakistani prisoner, Shakirullah who was stoned to death by other inmates in Rajasthan’s Jaipur Central Jail mid last month, has been handed over to Pakistan at the Wagah Border on Saturday.

The murder of the Pakistani inmate had come after India has leveled baseless allegations against Pakistan of being involved in the Pulwama attack in occupied Kashmir. Shakirullah had been in the Indian jail since 2001.

Pakistan, in this regard, had lodged its protest with India after the inspector general of police (IG) for Rajasthan and in-charge of prisons Kapil Garg confirmed the news of Shakirullah's murder on February 20.

"The Indian administration failed to protect Shakirullah," said Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Shakirullah's family will take his body to their native area Daska, Sialkot for burial.

The Pakistani prisoner had been eight years into a life term when he was attacked at the Jaipur central jail. He was stoned to death following a quarrel, Garg told AFP.

The deceased's family maintained that the late Shakirullah was not mentally fit and crossed Indian territory by mistake during his visit to Shakargarh to visit a festival.

Pakistan had earlier on Friday handed over Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman to Indian authorities at the Wagah border crossing as a "peace gesture" to de-escalate the rising tensions between the two South Asian neighbouring countries.

Abhinandan was captured when his MiG-21 among two Indian military aircraft was shot down by Pakistan Air Force after they ventured into the Pakistani airspace.

The Foreign Office of Pakistan said while in captivity, Abhinandan was treated "with dignity and in line with international law".

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illahi Rajiyoon.

Killed by animals.

Dead men tell no tales. It is said that this fellow was mentally unfit and crossed the border by mistake, but of course if he is returned as a dead body then no one can judge for themselves as the evidence has been destroyed. I suppose Indians think this is some sort of sick joke after Pakistan's release of the Indian pilot in good health.

Inna lillahi wa inna illahi rajioon

We return their pilot with full honour and respect and they give back a dead body. What a pathetic country is India.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon.May his soul rest in peace.

Such a sickening, burning feeling inside me right now.

Kaghazi democracy,sorry states of affairs.

Wow. What an absolute tragedy. This current hindu fascist state should not be trusted. They have no humanity.

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illahi Rajiyoon.
May his soul find peace.

I know I say some things on here that I shouldn't sometimes, but you have to understand why I get emotional. We have handed over your fighter pilot who dropped bombs on our land with full respect and health, and you send us back the dead body of a poor man that was mentally unfit. Lanat hai Hindustan Par!

This is what I hate about the sensitive peace doves on our side, this is to all of you praising your "brave pilot friend" who was "dEwiNg hIs jaab" and called for his return. Hope you guys are happy now.

He was serving a life term. How was he going to say anything in the first place if he wasn't going to get out? It was just an unfortunate incident, no need to go ahead with the conspiracy theories.

...and here people think IK did a great gesture by returning their soldier. Not saying we should have killed but should have kept him like a trophy for a lot longer. Kulbushan would have had some company behind bars.

Shakirullah’s body was missing his heart, lungs, stomach and brain: postmortem report

The Pakistani national jailed in India was not only killed but his vital organs were removed from his body, revealed an initial postmortem report conducted by a team of Pakistani doctors.

Fifty-year-old Shakirullah was serving a life term in India’s Jaipur Central Jail in Rajasthan after being sentenced under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. On February 20, he was killed by inmates following the Pulwama attack. On March 2, India’s Border Security Force handed his body over to the Punjab Rangers at the Wagah Border.

The body was handed over 12 days after his death.

The postmortem was conducted by a six-doctor team under Dr Farooq, the medical superintendent of the Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital, Sialkot.

“Shakirullah died due to a serious head injury,” said Dr Farooq in his media talk. “Several organs of his body were missing. His heart, lungs, stomach and a large portion of his brain were not in his body.”

Tissue samples have been dispatched for forensic tests, he said. The forensic report of the deceased will tell us more about his death, he added.

Earlier on Sunday, Shakirullah was laid to rest in Jaiserwala, a village in Sialkot area of Daska. Public representatives, including MNA Iftikhar Hassan Shah, PTI leader Umar Dar, MPA Muhammad Rizwan and senior government officials, and Shakirullah's friends and family attended the funeral.

We gave message of peace by releasing their pilot alive, funeral attendees told SAMAA TV. “But India is spreading mischief and hatred.”

Shakirullah, who may have been suffering from a psychiatric condition, crossed the Indian border accidentally in 2003 and was arrested for espionage.

On Saturday, the Foreign Office said India had not yet responded to the country's request for a postmortem and judicial inquiry into his killing.

Islamabad demanded that the culprits be taken to task and the findings of the inquiry and postmortem report be shared with Pakistan urgently. The FO also demanded India ensure the safety of all Pakistanis, particularly those in its prisons.

Those who did this will have to face the severe of severest punishment in day of Judgement.

They are among the disgusting losers in this planet.

I am more shocked that these barbarians handed back his body knowing full well that this will be exposed.

Is this news credible? Its hard to believe. Not their barbarism but their stupidity of thinking this wont be exposed.

Shocking, how low can some people go!

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illahi Rajiyoon.

imagine if this person was an American.
Imagine the media hysteria in that situation.

Shocking.

Will be interesting to see the reaction or comments of the Indian posters...

1 - I am not sure that this is properly sources news: lets not do the nonsense that parts of the Indian news media has done for the last two weeks
2 - this unfortunate death was criminal in nature, so there might have been a post-mortem which leads to organ being removed - usually they are put back in the same place
3 - the body is embalmed, when burial is not immediate, it usually involves emptying out contents of all the orgrans.

Its outrageous what happened to this person, but we dont know enough to make a claim. But its good for propaganda purposes.

The direction India is heading is very dangerous, and they might have to meet the same fate that Japan did in the past.

The world seems so worthless at this point. Want to say something bitter right now but that too seems pointless.
