Brand image matters in Pakistan more than most other nations as 70 per cent of the respondents in the latest survey reported they’re willing to spend more on a well-known brand.

“This in effect has caused growth in brands across categories,” said a global trends survey report released by international insights firm Ipsos on Wednesday.

According to an analysis of the country-specific survey data with respect to global, regional and emerging markets’ trends, Ipsos’ key insights showed Pakistan is “at the sharp end of the global climate crisis”. Pakistanis were in the middle of the global rankings before the floods hit the country last year. But views are changing post-floods, especially among the young, the survey said.

Ipsos interviewed 48,541 people aged 16-plus between September and November 2022. In most markets, this wave of the survey was carried out online. It was carried out over the telephone in Pakistan and Kenya though.

I knew Pakistanis were always status conscious so I guess wearing fancy brands does help - but strange for a country which is on the brink of economic collapse to be worrying about these things?

I agree with this research.

The clothing for Pakistan and North America is quite different. In Pakistan, people will buy the shirt which has the brand name popping out so that other people know what you are wearing, while in North America people tend to wear shirts which are decent and doesnt really have the brand name popping on their belly or chest

the methodology of the research is abit flawed i would say.

People prefer brands, however this could be counterfeited brands aswell.

The survey was done through telephone. A better survey could had been done by physically standing in the market and judging the people actually wearing those clothes. Most are fake, but have brand logos popping out to let the other person know.

Are you one of those? ones who prefer brands?

I dont really care what i wear, as long as the quality of cloth is as such that it can last 10+ years. Plus have a decent design.

Original brands are way too expensive here and not affordable.
