Pakistanis who have visited India and Indians who have visited Pakistan - How was your experience?

been to india twice, in the late 90's.. very nice people... was treated very well.. sad how both the governments handle things for their own agendas, would love to visit on a regular basis.. as still have family there.

The govts represent the people at the end of the day. I think we are going to have to move on from putting the blame on politicians all the time, ignorance is self inflicted in many ways.

If I ever get a Visa for India, which is practically impossible, I'd like to visit my ancestor hometown in (If I remember correctly from my late Grandmother) was Behala in Kolkata city.

Although she wasn't from there herself, she was from a village in 24 provinces; my grandfather (both mom and dad side) were from Kolkata city. Would love to visit this place some day!

Both of my grandfathers worked for British Raj and both of them were transferred to Karachi before 1947, I think it was 1944 and 1945 respectively so hence my family roots was technically there before partition.

My Grandmother (my Dad's mom) came in 1947, not entirely sure why her family choose Karachi but they kinda did while my Grandmother (from my mom's side) came from Dehli, due to her father opting Karachi as a base to start a new life - funnily enough ethnicity wise she also belonged to Kolkata City but because her Dad was a civil servent before partition he was I believe tranfered to Dehli

Did anyone speak bengali?

Dude everyone understands Bengali in our household completely, and the women normally speak it very fluently even up till today, heck when my mom wants to give me or my brother an earful she normally starts scolding us in Bengali

But what I find it incredibly surprising is that whenever I meet any Bangladeshi (Mainly overseas such as Malaysia, Singapore, Middle East), their Bengali dialect is very different to ours! There's a lot of 'Z' involved in their language for e.g. They kinda say 'Apni Zabi/Zabo Na??' which I grew up listening to Jabo/Jabi - I always found this incredibly interesting tbh.

Thats because your dialect is west bengali like mine. As you see you can totally differentiate between the two dialects. You will hear your dialect when speaking to someone from west bengal

Its pretty clear your family roots are from 24 Paraganas south.

Btw Behala is the place where Saurav Ganguly lives.
