Its a hard pill to swallow but most knew Pakistan will never win the series with Malik, Hafeez and Azhar Ali. Unfortunate part is 2 more [Babar Azam and Amir] joined this failure group.
The consistent batting collapses really destroyed all chances for Pakistan to win anything. Shamefully for the above-mentioned seniors, the youngsters on their first tour stepped up and took more responsiblity. Pakistan's batting started from no.5 - no. 11 who made 60-70% of the team totals.
There is a lesson in this stat and some respite as the 1988 team under Imran Khan is also in the list. That team is light years ahead of this present team and they lost to the most strongest team on earth at that time the unbreakable West Indies. After that tour Imran Khan assessed and took some decisions that helped Pakistan long after he retired in 1992. He discarded the bowling dept. and decided to inject fress blood and youngsters into the team. Result was Saleem Jaffar, Naved Anjums,Mudassar Nazar were discarded, Abdul Qadir, Shoaib [opener] were phased out and Waqar Younis, Aaqib Javed, Mushtaq Ahmed, Aamir Sohail, Saeed Anwar, Inzamam, plus many others were injected into the team.
This team dominated most other teams thruout the 90s and popularized cricket in other countries like SouthEast Asia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
Mickey Arthur knows Pakistan is not West Indies and have huge talent pool who suffer from corrupt system and thus limited opportunities.
IT is tough but Malik, Hafeez, Akmals, Shehzad, Butts, Amir are only going to give more losses and chew up half of PAkistan's chances in the World Cup. Time to make some timely decisions of giving youngsters more chances immediately. They need to be groomed so that team could benefit long-term.
