We have been trashed comprehensively by England in England, Australia in Australia and now NZ in NZ. I am pretty sure if we were to play against India we would meet the same fate.

There is just a shocking lack of quality in all departments of the game. The batting order, strategy and thought process is still in the 90's where having hitters is gunnah in the team.

Not a single eye catching pacer, still relying on the fraudulent Amir who has pulled a huge con over the nation.

CT win has masked huge gaps in the field. Mickey Arthur and Steve Rixon have been around for a year and a half now. Coaching staff needs to answer questions as to why the team selection has been so poor and out dated.

Victories over the West Indies in West Indies and Sri Lanka unfortunately have served to mask over the team's problems. The team is still far behind England, Australia, NZ, South Africa, India e.t.c

Almost all asian teams have suffered in these countries.

Same goes for non asian teams in asia

Cannot remember when I last saw India or Sri Lanka win against England,Australia or NZ in their own home den

India defeated England in England in their last Odi series there.

Biggest reason for our batting failing so miserably is a lack of runs from Babar. He's contributed virtually nothing in the whole series.

Fakhar has been a revelation. He's shown that he can play very well in foreign conditions. Just need another aggressive opener with him and Babar to click.

Haris needs to remain at 4/5. Haris is the anchor if we collapse and he can be the accelerator as well if top order does well.

Bowling is doing perfectly fine. Junaid and Imad have surely been missed.

Our batting needs a few tweaks, we have the top 4 almost sorted now with Fakhar, Babar and Haris ... need 1 more explosive opener to partner with Fakhar ... need to find power hitters for 7 & 8 ... Faheem & Yamin are there but need to continue to look for more options in case these two don't produce after being given good amount of chances ... Sarfaraz should bat at 5.

We are not that far off to compete in overseas conditions. Sensible selection for batting will do wonders for us. And also, playing more in these conditions will allow us to familiarize better. That's a huge issue for us. We don't play these teams in their backyards enough.

Time is right to drop Azhar, Hafeez and Malik for good.

Just having power hitters at 7 and 8 alone is not enough, we need power hitters opening and power hitters in the middle. At best you can now have one or a max of 2 accumulators with the guaranteed ability to go bezerk at the death.

Unfortunately too many accumulators in the middle i.e. Babar Azam, Hafeez, Malik, Sarfaraz, the line up and approach needs to change

Good post. Its not like we are too far from cracking the code of a good limited overs side but Arthur, Sarfaraz and Inzimam need to understand that. Side is not as bad as the results in NZ show, many teams have been beaten here by #-0 in the last few years.

To be honest not sure about what we should do with Hafeez (Performed in two matches) and Malik (Giant in UAE) but I guess its time to move on and Azhar needs to be dropped because he is not a modern day opener I guess.

Not only because of the series loss Hafeez is 37 and Malik is 35 and they are also not the most accomplished players against pace bowling yes really good against spin but one has to move on and all good things come to an end.

You deserve an occasion to celebrate after the CT

There is nothing to celebrate here, I feel sorry for the people who got a reality check. I told you two months ago that a reality check is round the corner - could be the NZ series, could be the one after, but it is coming, and it is here now.

Fakhar
Explosive Opener
Babar
Haris
Sarfaraz
Shadab
Faheem
Power Hitting all-rounder
Hasan

That's a pretty good top 9 right there.

Our problem is Hafeez & Malik have never been big time scorers as their averages suggest. You need 40+ avg. batsmen in the middle to ensure you always have a chance to put up big totals.

I firmly believe we are only a few tweaks in the batting line up away from moving in the right direction.

This logic of all Asian countries have suffered, so its ok for us to suffer as well is what allows mediocrity to be accepted.

No its not ok for us to be hammered in England/Australia/NZ/SA.

We've been mediocre for years, nothing's changed

In my opinion we aren’t far off from becoming competitive.

lol we have been losing even our home against England, NZ and Australia and SA. India don't play us. So these excuses don't apply to us.

recent results? what gave it away...?

CT aside, the LOI team has stayed in the 90's, there is nothing 'recent' about this

Did you forget Misbah's team, Azhar's team, Afridi's team... Pakistan haven't looked like a competent ODI unit since the 99 WC
