I think much is dependant on the upcoming PSL and who performs but who would you like to see in the next t20 squad for our next international assignment?
To be brutally honest I am sick to the sight of constant failures by our inept and ridiculously weak middle order batsmen. Ifthikar, Khushdil, Asif, talat consistently fail and even haider needs to go back to domestic or have a seriously good PSL tournament before he should be considered again for the national side. At this point he is reminding me of a young umar akmal. All the talent in the world but minimal application or ability to use his brain. Haris Rauf also is absolute trash imo. Zero intelligence, an ugly action, jaahil celebration and personality and nothing more then a tape bowler who's struck lucky getting a call up to the national side at a time when our pace bowling stocks are at an all time low.
This would be my starting XI and squad for our next series.
Sharjeel
Rizwan
Babar
Hafeez
Shadab
Danish
Nawaz
Yamin
Hassan
Qadir
Shaheen
Azam Khan, zahid, faheem, imad, amad butt all in the squad and whoever else performs in the PSL worthy of a call up.
Now shadab and imad Imo shouldn't walk straight back into side and should have to earn their place. Starting with shadab, I firmly believe qadir and zahid are Far superior leggies then him but I don't see him not being included as VC. Imad, as time goes by is losing bowling effectiveness, was poor in the BBL generally and nawaz deserves to keep his place. Not the best bowler is nawaz but keeps it tight & I think his batting is extremely underrated. Aamir Yamin I rate very highly especially with the new ball as he swings it both ways and takes wickets. Not only that but he's very competent with the bat and I think it's a travesty faheem, an average t20 bowler has been selected over him off the back of good performances in test matches. Opening up with Yamin allows us to hold back Shaheen and hassan too and provides a quality batting option.
Azam Khan needs to something about his fitness big time but should be in the squad as a genuine power hitter and backup WK. If it was upto me he would be in for hafeez who's now 40 if I'm not mistaken? We need to move on and future plan. Hafeez isnt the future, we should thank him and move on but I highly doubt we will.
I genuinely think with this starting XI and squad we can go far in the upcoming t20 world Cup. All basis are covered, 3 seamers, 1 quality spinner, 2 good backup spinners, long tail, a finisher in Danish and powerful opener in sharjeel.
Enough of repeat failures like Ifthikar, Khushdil, talat and haider. They've been given plenty of opportunities to shine. Even oldies like wahab, malik and hafeez, let's move on from them once and for all and go with a bright, young side.
Thoughts?
