If my memory serves me well:
2009
Lost to Australia, 3-2
Lost to New Zealand, 2-1
2010
Lost to South Africa, 3-2
2011
Beat Sri Lanka, 4-1
2012
Lost to England, 4-0
Lost to Australia, 2-1
2013
Lost to South Africa, 4-1
Beat Sri Lanka, 3-2
2014
1-0 down to Australia in a 3 match series.
In case I haven't missed any;
We have played 36 ODIs, Won 14 and Lost 22
That's utterly disgraceful and shambolic for our so called home record and yet we continue to blow the trumpet of our so called best bowling attack especially spinners, but what is the point when you can't even beat teams like Australia (soon to be thrice), South Africa (twice) and England/NZ (once) who are supposed to be relatively incompetent against spin?
For some reason, funnily enough, we have the wood over SL.
A common excuse used is that we don't play at home and if we play in Pakistan, we would do a great job but again, if my memory serves me correctly, we have lost our last 3 series in Pakistan against decent teams in embarrassing fashion.
2007 India, 4-1; South Africa 3-2
2009 Sri Lanka, 2-1
So this excuse belongs has been thrown out of the window as well and teams like Australia, South Africa, England and NZ have a a severe disadvantage against us even if they face us in India, SL or Bangladesh too because pitches in all these places are closer to Pakistan than Australia, England and NZ respectively. Thus the excuse of not playing in Pakistan is illogical because we'd be producing the same rubbish in Lahore, Karachi and Multan instead of Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
The foundation of a great team is built upon its home record. unless teams fear coming to your den and you don't feel invincible and have a certain aura about you, teams will not respect you. Fluking wins away from home here and there is minnowish behavior. All great teams of the past used their strong home record as building blocks for further success.
What's the point of gloating over a 3 match series win in SA and India when your home record is so terrible? In my opinion, we need to go back to the drawing board and construct a team that can score wins over these teams in the UAE/Pakistan even if it comes at a cost of getting drubbed overseas.
If we score a few wins over them at Home, we will start to regain some credibility and get some shape and confidence going into the team. Losing at home in such fashion is deplorable.
Yes we laugh at them, but a few HTBs and FTBs are in serious order.
