It appears that once again the English elite players who are contracted by the ECB i.e. Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Harry Brooks and others like Johnny Bairstow have not been allowed to play in the PSL. This is inspite of the fact that the PCB and the Pakistani government has excellent relationships with the ECB and the British Government. The Sharif Brothers are close to the British Establishment. Could these stakeholders have not done something to convince the ECB to allow these main english players to play in the PSL.

Why does the PCB allow Pakistani players to play easily in county cricket, Vitality Blast and the Hundred? PCB should respond *** for tat and refuse NOC's for Pakistani players to play in county cricket, Vitality Blast and the Hundred.

Honestly I’m starting to think you live under a rock

Which Pakistani players were given NOC’s last year for the Hundred?

45 players had registered, its another thing no one got picked but historically the PCB has allowed its players to play in the Hundred. PCB gives NOC's for county cricket and Vitality Blast. They should demand in return that the ECB allows its centrally contracted elite players to be available for the PSL.

No player was picked last year and the year before too if I’m correct. Imad and Amir usually get picked as replacements.

The PCB pulled the plug on Shaheen and Naseem after 2024 World Cup when they had £125k deals with two franchises. That has miffed the owners. From next year, it is totally Indian business owned. So the door is firmly closed now.

These are the things that the PCB has to put forward before ICC and have them resolved before any boycott is lifted!

The main issue is that he keeps coming out with completely useless bakwas, mostly aimed at belittling Pakistan, the PCB, or the PSL. All it does is hand Indians an opportunity to mock us. Honestly, it feels like he’s and underground indian
and he comes in with no source.

Warner was indicating while commentating in the BBL that Bairstow was unhappy with ECB's policy of allowing English players to play the IPL, but not the PSL. Considering the fact that he was also playing the SA20 recently and guys like Root, Jacks, Bethell, Crawley have in the past too, it's fairly obvious that the policy includes the SA20 aswell.

Maybe this is something the PCB should take up with the ECB, and if this really is the policy then it seems unfair to players who may go unpicked in the IPL, and won't be playing any international cricket during that time period because of the window.

Bairstow for instance hasn't played an international for England in two years and went unpicked in the IPL. It would be quite strange if we don't see him in the PSL.

I think it's a good point that we haven't been able to get some more well known English players but this part made me laugh

"The Sharif Brothers are close to the British Establishment. Could these stakeholders have not done something to convince the ECB to allow these main english players to play in the PSL."

Come on brother this is a bit ridiculous.

The SA20 doesn't clash with the English summer like the PSL has been moved to do. That's the key difference.

Is Warner not coming in PSL?

All other franchise leagues have Indian owners, so I am sure scheduling will never conflict with IPL apart from their cricketing seasons of course.

PSL being at the same time as IPl is probably because it’s the similar season/weather in Pak so less washouts etc.

Otherwise no reason for them to be in the same slot as IPL. PSL is run by businessmen, so don’t think they will be that delusional or petty to think it will hurt the IPL.

Yeah, but if centrally-contracted English players are being allowed to play in the IPL, then it's not fair to bar them from playing in the PSL. It's clearly not an issue of county commitments because we do see plenty of English players like James Vince, Sam Billings, Tom Curran etc. turn up in the PSL

These players have all avoided signing full county contracts allowing them to play other tournaments during the English summer.

@Savak bhai as always hitting the nail on the head but watch this space

He’s asked a genuine question for which there is no possible justification and I fully stand by his side.

Exactly, look before you leap , so much of bravado might leave PCB in dire straits , these frequent visits of SENA to Pakistan may be curtailed due to BCCI influence. I hope Naqvi has some plan in aftermath of this boycott

Rob Key is not a fan of county cricket. He takes quite a sneering tone towards it, I've read his book and he's often under the spell of more maverick cricketers like Flintoff, KP, Warne, and completely turned off by usual English county pros.

He believes IPL is a higher standard than county so let's players skip county season for IPL, but he can't make an exception for multiple leagues as then he will burn his bridges with the counties completely.

I can see where he is coming from too. Players playing in both the IPl and PSL will decimate county cricket.
