don’t know why wahab has a B contract. Especially with rumours of him retiring from Tests. Weird handouts from Wasim Khan.

Wasim Khan looks like has been influenced by bad eggs in PCB. Poor selection all round.

Wasim doesn't look like a strong leader. Haroon Rashid was able to extend his contract by a year through Mudasar. Wasim Bari is still the head of Karachi high performance center, these leeches are not going to leave PCB. Only removal was Shafiq papa, and PCB is stuck with these old hags and Wasim Khan can't do anything about it.

I'm not really optimistic about the NAYA PCB

Yes, may be Sarfraz will remain t20 captain,
Wahab may play tests,
And yasir, what he has done

Yasir is handy on spinning tracks.

Sarfraz won’t get dropped from the Test side.

Whilst Wahab will play instead of Amir.

Yasir does not deserve to be in category A. He is only useful in Asia and liability everywhere else. In limited overs, he may be the worst bowler for Pakistan in the last 20 years. If test cricket was to be promoted, Abbass deserved it more than Yasir.

I dont think categories are decided based upon usefulness in home and away conditions. While Yasir Shah is a terrible limited overs bowler and not of much use in overseas tests, he clearly is head and shoulders above anyone else in performances in UAE. Series vs Srl, Aus and NZ proved that as more often than not he was the main weapon for Pak in bowling.

I wouldnt have mind if only Babar would have been in category A but not sure having just 1 player in A category would have fared with all players.

Very worrisome situation, Sarfraz is not being kicked out as he should have been.

Should Mohammad Hasnain also have a contract? Surely he was marked as future prospect?

I think Sarfraz and Yasir awarded A category on qouta basis,
Otherwise only deserved selection is Babar

Very good sign going forward that Hafeez and Malik not offered central contracts, looks like PCB may finally be moving on from these two.

Should Mohammad Hasnain also have a contract? Surely he was marked as future prospect?

Every prospect should need to earn it, not have it be handed to him on a silver platter.

And so far, he hasn't done anything to really deserve it.

Now Hafeez and Malik not in probables for SL series... Reason given is 'CPL commitments' but hopefully means they are out of consideration.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel is planning to make blood and eye tests mandatory for players four times a year, once cricket activities resume post the COVID-19 pandemic.

A senior official of PCB’s medical panel said that presently the contracted players had to undergo blood tests and eye scans every six months.

“But due to the changing situation because of the coronavirus pandemic we are planning to introduce tests at least four times in 12 months,” he said.

Misbah wants national camp to begin soon but PCB worried about logistical aspect

He said blood tests and eye scans were mandatory for players and this practice has to be increased once cricket activities resume because the situation in the world has changed due to the pandemic.

He explained while blood tests were for health reasons, eye scans were done as vision plays a big part in a cricketer’s reflex and timing.

The PCB is set to announce a pool of around 30 players on Wednesday, who will be called for a quarantined training camp in Lahore at the national high performance centre to prepare for the tour of England.

Pakistan’s head coach and chief selector, Misbah-ul-Haq is planning to take some 25 players to England for three Tests and as many T20 matches.

Inzamam has expressed reservations on PCB’s decision of not including senior players – Muhammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz and Muhmmad Amir in the list of centrally contracted players. “When the central contracts were announced (last month) I couldn’t comment on that as it is after quite some time that I’m posting this video to express my views. But I think by not awarding central contracts to these four players, you’ve given them the message that you’ll not be with us for a long period. But if they are part of your T20 squad during the England tour, how can you give them the message that you are not part of our future planning?” he asked.

“I don’t think this a good approach as it will compel the players to focus on individual efforts and consequently team’s unity will be at stake.”

According to Inzamam there would have been nothing wrong if these players were also given a one year contract. “They’ve served Pakistan cricket for several years. I’ve also not seen any statement coming from them that they’ll quitting after the world cup,” added Inzamam, who scored 8,830 runs in 120 Tests and 11739 runs in 378 ODIs.

Not given central contracts and now they are on the tour to play England.

Pathetic planning from Misbah and the PCB.

Update on domestic players and coaches contracts

The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced it will extend the contracts of all domestic players and coaches, expiring on 30 June, till 31 July before the new 12-month contracts will come into effect from 1 August.

The decision has been made by the High Performance Department, which is presently busy carrying out a 360 degree appraisal of all its coaches. The process is expected to conclude early next month with the six Cricket Association sides to be confirmed by the end of July.

In the 2019-20 season, the PCB had offered 192 contracts to the domestic cricketers of which 186 cricketers had accepted the contracts.

Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan: “As part of a comprehensive and extensive review process, we are conducting appraisals of all coaches, which is a three-phase process including self-assessment, interviews and feedback from players and fellow coaches.

“This is the modern 360 degree way of appraising professionals as we remain committed to put in place the best available coaches who can provide best coaching and training to the players, which, in turn, will contribute to further enhance the quality of our domestic cricket.

“Once the appraisal of the coaches is concluded, the six Cricket Association coaches will be involved in the team selection process. We hope to conclude the entire exercise by end July with 12-month contracts coming into effect from 1 August 2020.

“It is premature to predict when we will be able to start our 2020-21 domestic cricket season due to the evolving Covid-19 situation. But, internally, we need to be ready to start the season at a short notice.”
