The talent hunt program aims to engage around 10,000 young boys and girls to promote grassroots cricket and provide equal opportunities. A portal for registrations will open from April 10 to May 10, 2025, followed by a tournament between September and November, with semi-finals and finals broadcast live.

Talented players will be considered for U15 and U17 teams, with the program addressing the decline in school and college cricket and aiming to replace the existing age-group trial system with a structured and transparent process.

Just a curious thought, where do the coaches get their coaching from?

the issue in Pakistan isnt talent hunting; its talent nurtering.
PCB just doing cheap PR stunts
Yes, this is the biggest problem

Talent is there, but improving them and guiding them to help improve is the biggest issue

They need proper coaching

Another marketing gimmick.
We all know only those kids who have some connections will be selected.

My PTSD gets triggered when I hear "talent hunt program" as it reminds me of all the hours standing in an endless queue to wait for your turn in the midst of over age boys & nepotism induced (plus parchi) selection process.

A personal anecdote, over age boys are asked to have "cheesa shave" which means razor shave by local barbers so not even a shred of stubble is visible before the trial. To get all those 20 plus boys look like barely 16 or lower really is a an art which is bestowed to an elite few that have penchant of acquiring skills that mere mortals run away from.

Will anyone explain what is the outcome of Pcb task force detailed for power hitting , another gimmicky to Starr now

It's such a bespoke initiative- anything related to talent hunts. That's how we got Haris Rauf fast tracked into the national team.

The problem is that only a few schools have their cricket teams so this opportunity isn't for all the students.

PCB Future Stars Talent Hunt Programme to begin from 11 February

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced a series of open trials in 15 cities across the country to shortlist around 350 players for 16 regional academies in a bid to expand the country-wide talent pool of professional cricketers, it was confirmed on Friday.

A panel of former Test cricketers comprising PCB Director High Performance Aqib Javed, National Cricket Academy coaches Misbah-ul-Haq and Abdul Razzaq will travel to the venues to conduct the trials from 11 February. The trials in will begin from PCB Ground in Sukkur, where players from Larkana Region can take part.

The 15 cities where the first of its kind open trials will be held are Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Hub District, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, and Sukkur.

The selection panel will shortlist up to 24 players for each of the 16 regions across Pakistan, who will then undergo a four-week specialised training programme in their respective regional headquarter.

The best of the best players in those camps will also be called to National Cricket Academy camps and will also be fast-tracked via a year-long skills development programme in their respective regions.

Apart from the shortlisting of players for the regional academies, the selection panel will also award cash prizes on the spot to the best pacer, spinner and batter at each of the 16 trial venues.

With this exercise, the PCB will assist the 16 regions in expansion of their talent pools for intra and inter-district, regional and other domestic tournaments.

Following the rigorous regional and NCA skill development camps for the shortlisted players from open trials, they will be recommended not just to the various domestic teams in departmental and regional tournaments but also for HBL PSL selection in the seasons beyond 2026.
