HBL Pakistan Super League 6

The BoG received a presentation and an update on the report of the two-person fact-finding panel that was set-up by the PCB Chairman to review the bio-security protocols, bylaws and arrangements for the HBL Pakistan Super League 6 and make recommendations on how to better ensure implementation of a bio-secure environment for future events.

The BoG discussed and debated the panel’s findings in detail. They expressed their disappointment at the failures that were highlighted in the report and advised remedial actions needed to be taken.

The BoG endorsed all recommendations of the fact-finding panel, including robust and stringent implementation of the protocols, as well as maintaining a zero-tolerance approach towards all those who breach the Covid-19 SOPs, which are put in place for safeguarding the health and safety of all participants.

The BoG was informed that as part of the strategy to ensure the HBL PSL 6 resumed and completed in a safe and secure environment, the PCB was in final stages of appointing a globally-recognised safety management company that specialises in providing Covid-safe technology solutions, bio-secure monitoring & management, as well as response and reaction to positive tests.

The members were informed that a mandatory seven-day quarantine period for all participants will commence from 22 May in one hotel and following three days of training sessions, HBL PSL 6 matches will resume on 1 June with the final scheduled for 20 June.

The following is the schedule of the 20 remaining matches, finalised in consultation with the franchises (all matches at National Stadium, Karachi; evening matches will start at 8pm; in case of double-headers, first match will begin at 5pm while the second match will start at 10pm):

Great news. The stance towards COVID breaches sounds promising. I hope they can safeguard the tournament, the bigger picture is important here I.e cricket in Pakistan.

Let's just hope everything goes off without a hitch this time. Hopefully, some lessons have been learned.

I really hope we learn this time otherwise withdraw the PSL if this happens again.

I wish it was planned to resume in month of May at same time with IPL.
Timepass posters from both countries would have plenty of opportunities to argue this league is better than that league.

Yes, count your blessings. Just look around on cricket forum, your that specific wish is granted everyday.

btw, Timepass is forum for all things not cricket.

Should've used some better word than Timepass.
What I meant was some people from both sides are obsessed to prove that their league is better than others. If it ever happens when IPL and PSL have matches on same day, people will try to prove their point just by looking at both scorecards on that particular day.

They aren't ready to accept the fact that all these leagues have one common goal, making money.
Boards organize leagues with available resources and all people need to do is sit and enjoy the matches of whichever league they like.

But yeah, it's a forum and everyone is entitled to share his thought.

On a different note, I hope all key players participate and PSL goes well this time.

Any new info on that report on PSL covid breach by experts? MenInG

What a failure this PSL has become.

PCB should be critisized for this.
THe whole marketing budget blew up in their faces. The songs and everything else goes into waste due to the earlier delay.

Now what matters is the marketing, how they will recreate the hype and create that same atmosphere?

Second thing is, will HBL and other sponsors continue with as after such delays?

By having all matches in Karachi, it shows that PCB just wants to complete the tournament, and won't be able to have proper matches.

PCB could had taken advantage of this situation. We are not gonna have crowds i guess, so why not get some mattches in 2-3 different grounds of karachi. How far is that Gawader ground from Karachi? If its near might aswell get some matches there aswell

Pakistan is cricket hungry and obsessed, like India. Just make sure that the league is held without issues this time.
It will be followed wildly by Pakistanis.

A lot of overseas players might not show up. June is really really hot and Pakistan being red listed by UK is also going to have a major impact. PCB shouldn't rush this, if it can't happen smoothly then let it go this year, don't ruin the reputation of the League, whatever little it has got left.

I'm sure PCB being "Professional" have consulted all the foreign players before deciding the fixtures.

The financial loss would be massive, last year it was reported that PCB could lose 5 million USD in case PCB fails to hold the playoffs & final.

This cuts the schedule a bit tight for the tour of England at the start of July if Pakistan is still on the UKs red list and the players have to do 10 days quarantine without practicing.

The best "Professionally managed" league on the planet that barely managed to complete its season last year with it's professional competency on full display again this year.

From next year, PCB is better off outsourcing the entire league to an external entity to stop embarrassing itself and its fans or better, schedule it for an extended period where 1 or 2 matches/week are played so the entire season can be completed in one shot.
What a joke
