PCB official denies reports of a one-off Boxing Day Test in SA 2017 [Post #73]

Not here and there dude,it is happening quiet often now.Look at the series deciding test against West Indies which Pakistan won in the last ball.2nd test against England vs Bangladesh in which England was 100/0 chasing 271 and got all out for 165.first test in UAE West Indies vs Pakistan when West Indies fought back hard and almost won. These are recent matches.Just like this many matched gone to the wire which i just can't remember now.
India, England, Australia are still playing 4 or test match series. They usually don't play 2 off tests.it is Pakistan and Bangladesh particularly these 2 countries play too less number of test matches. Test cricket can't be seen in a way of tuk tuk,4s and 6 s.Less scoring matches are more attractive.many many ODIs and T20S are one sided ,but people are watching because they hope for thrilling finishes.

Test matches have really gotten interesting but you can't expect the Indian fans to like them too much...for them it will always be boring. I mean, almost all of tests played in India have one side batting for 2+ days and then their spinners bowling nonstop until a draw or until the pitch starts turning it square.

South Africa "advises" its top players to participate in the World XI games in Pakistan, and Pakistan returns the favor by showing up for a one-off test. That's all folks. Nothing else to see here. Can't play a full series because the money-making tour starts right after. PCB probably negotiating to play at least 2 tests instead of 1. 1 just looks bad for them. As if they are being given leavings.

Please dont post rubbish

don't get so offended..I didn't mean Indian spinners only...that was a typo. What I described has been the theme for most tests in played in India...

All the recent test series in India produced result.England,South Africa, Australia all these team played on spinning track there in India on their recent tour.Bit yes, there was not much crowd in the stadium in those matches but not such empty as well

Result or not. Test matches will always be least followed by Indian fans. Now record breaking IPL deal proves my point where does Indian fans interest lies.

Watch how it plays out. Pakistan will play that boxing test. Its only about what they can get back from the SA board. Maybe if the World XI games go well, you might even get SA to agree to a short tour of Pakistan...

Never knew Indians were this much better at funky conspiracy theories. Please tell us more of what's coming next.

Read the title of this thread. These reports were fake and there was little substance in them and hence a PCB official has denied these rumours

Bro, he is not representing us "Indians". Most of us(Indians) dont even care if Pakistan plays boxing day test or not. He is just trolling with his baseless theories.

How about a friendly little wager? If Pakistan doesn't play Boxing day test in SA, I will add a signature to my posts that Pakistan is a better ODI team than India. If they do, you can add a signature that reflects India-Pakistan ODI World Cup record.

It's confirmed that they won't play a boxing day test in SA. So you have to add the signature mate, look at post #73

Wouldn't be surprised if we agreed upon a deal where we play [a] match v SA, if they gave the green light for some of their players to be included in the World XI.

South Africa fixture crisis over India's preparation window

CHENNAI: India's fixture for the South Africa series hasn't been released yet and it has a lot to do with Virat Kohli's side's preparation for the Tests.

Kohli & Co have made it clear to Cricket South Africa (CSA) that they want a 12-day window for preparation after they reach South Africa. But CSA, pressed for time to squeeze in the entire four-Test, three ODIs, three T20s series in a 50-day window, is not keen to give India that much time for preparatory games.

South Africa will start their series against Australia on March 1 and they are not in a position to give the entire January-February window -as demanded by BCCI -to India. "India finish their series with Sri Lanka on December 24 and can reach SA only by December 27. They are not ready to play the first Test before Jan 10," a source close to the developments said.

South Africa, on the other hand, already are losing out on the Boxing Day Test. But they are not ready to forego the New Year Test, another prime attraction in their calendar. "But the Indian team has also made it clear that they are not going to start a Test match within five days of their arrival. They are going to SA to be competitive," the source added.

The Board has informed CSA about their decision and the South African board has to revert on the issue. "It is upto them to come up with the probable permutations and combinations and let us know how they are going to deal with the situation," the source added.

If in the process CSA schedules the ODIs and T20s before the Test series, they will end up giving India too much scope to acclimatize for the five-day version. "We would be surprised if they do that, we are waiting to hear from them before the announcement of fixtures," the source added.

In India's absence, CSA is looking at options to stage a one-off Test for the Boxing Day against Pakistan or Afghanistan.

A single test is useless. PCB should have pushed for a 3 game ODI series.

Yup, this is the solution.

SA should call PAK for 3 ODIs.

This helps PAK prepare for their NZ tour and SA has someone to play on Boxing Day. I don't think the fans will mind watching an ODI.

If necessary, they can turn it into 3 T20Is.

Pakistan could play both a Boxing Day and New Year Test and use a development / veteran team for the start of the ODI series in NZ.

NZ team for first ODI
Shehzad
Hafeez
Fakhar
Rizwan
Malik
Faheem
Yamin
Hammad
Shadab
Junaid
Wahab

Test team in SA
Azhar
Sami
Babar
Shafiq
Haris
Salahuddin
Sarfraz
Amir
Yasir
Hasan
Abbas

You can go ahead and do that now. :afridi1

CSA also announced plans to host the first ever 4-day Day/Night Test match to be played at St. George’s Park against Zimbabwe starting on Boxing Day.

“To ensure we do not disappoint our loyal fans over the traditional Boxing Day period and to take advantage of our brand-new lights at St George’s Park, we will host Zimbabwe in the first ever 4-day D/N Test match to be played. The Test status of the match is subject to ICC approval.
