ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said that the leader who cannot take apt U-turn is foolishest.

While talking to media in Islamabad, PM said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not apt U-turn and lied in the court.

PM Khan said that Shehbaz Sharif does not qualify for the post of chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) because a person who is facing corruption charges cannot be appointed as chief of any team.

Shehbaz Sharif s appointment as PAC chairman would portray a negative image of Pakistan at international level.

PM Khan also advised the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to lay hand on big fish involved in corruption.

He asserted that amendments in NAB Ordinance are necessary for smooth working of NAB.

“Who does not take U-Turn according to situation is not a real politician. Only fools take rigid stance and stick on it. Every wise person review his decision. U-Turn is always taken for good purpose. Napoleon and Hitler did not succeed due to the reason that they did not take U-Turn. But U-Turn is not for telling a lie like Nawaz Sharif”, the PM added.

He said that the process is going on for the return of plundered money. Some 15 billion dollars that are in procession of Pakistani citizens abroad have been detected. In this connection the agreements are signed with UAS, England and Switzerland.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the real democracy in the country was never established in Pakistan. As a matter of fact the opposition call plundering and looting as a democracy. Now the entire parliament is tangled in the chairmanship of Public Accounts Committee. How it is possible that a person who is involved in large scale corruption, money laundering and looting spree should be made PSC’s head, he asked.

He said that though the country had taken hefty foreign debts and heavy amount of aid but the people of the country are still poor. The only factor behind this poverty is corruption. A large amount of 1000 billion dollars are being transferred to rich states from poor countries annually.

While responding to different queries, Khan said that Pakistan is very rich in the natural resources .Now the country has reserves of 500 billion dollars of these resources. But our corrupt rulers only discovered five percent of it.

He said that PTI’s government will present a comprehensive report to the nation showing its performance during first 100 days of its tenure in various sectors including, health, education, poverty alleviation and steps taken for the curbing the corruption.

He claimed “though many primers in the past had visited China but my tour was most successful one. We got a lot of big deal there but Chinese leadership forbade us to disclose its detail.”

The PM confessed that there are many faults in the investigation process of FIA and NAB but his government has given a clear message to both the functionaries to move in right direction. If only 30 big cases would be focused then they can take the looted money back to national exchequer.

The prime minister said his government inherited a huge deficit of current and fiscal account and is endeavoring to overcome the financial crisis.

He said that the government decided to approach the friendly countries to deal with this situation and by the grace of Almighty Allah, it overcame this financial crunch and balance of payments issue.

Poor choice of words. He should have said, rigidness can lead to disaster. You have to be pragmatic for the greater good of the people or something along the same lines.

Perhaps thats right. But tbh people who support him got his message and understood what he was trying to say. The problem is when there is state of chaos and there are problems to deal with left right and centre there is always a chance of mistakes whether it is wrong choice words or actions. The key is to correct them.

He's right, you have to maneuver carefully as a leader and if need be, you should reverse your decisions.

Exactly. It takes a big man to lower his ego and pride and make oneself humble for his people.

Seems like an insult to great people, for example Edhi Sahab ,he stuck to his decisions could had gone abroad for treatment.
But of course Imran is a politician, so how can one trust a Politician's word?

I've heard this argument not just from IK but other foreign leaders, and indeed PCB Chairmen.

Yeah as long as you don't do it all the time. Better to make the right decision in the first place.

Uturns should only be done when there is no alternative. Govts should not Uturn on areas of principle for example if tge Q league decided to pull out of a coalition and IK then goes into coalition in return for supporting AZ to be let off then that is criminal and i would call IK to resign.

You don't win a war on the battlefield if you remain stubborn, stuck up and narrow minded in your thinking and strategy, the one who is flexible given the situation on the ground and circumstances at hand at the time will prevail 9 times out of ten

Good to see our savior is taking inspiration from Hitler. Also, much like Hitler, he too has a Minister of Propaganda whom he calls the Minister of Information.

Are you seriously comparing arguably the greatest Pakistani of all time with Hitler? :inti

I think there is a difference between a change of policy and a u-turn. E.g Obama was for gay marriage but changed his mind later. This is a U-turn. If someone changes their policy based on new data/information this is fine.

Well, he was the one to use Hitler’s example to justify his inability to stick to his decisions.

Maybe your English is poor but he didn't compare himself with Hitler, on the contrary he implied they were stubborn fools who let their people die instead of making a change.

I know your are not the brightest soul- remember when IK gave the example of our beloved Prophet and you accused him of blasphemy. Hitler was a leader, like Napoleon, Churchill, QA etc. Uturns are not great but are part and parcel of politics because sometimes its better to lose a battle to win the war. I think you are better off sticking to your crooks.

His English is fine- its his morals of delibrately misrepresenting that need improvement.

Just to add that Hitler is not someone that i admire in any way or form.

Yeah because you're so smart you've probably read books by/about Hitler to know his ideas, ordeals and ideals.

U turns is the hallmark of great leaders.

Your reading skills need improvement. It seems like the person is asking for permission to withdraw his petition from the election commission and instead wants permission to file it in Supreme Court as this is a matter of public importance.

Whether he gets the permission or not is irrelevant. What is actually relevant is your and the medias pathetic attempt to present this news as some kind of a U-turn.

Good interview of IK, tbh even Modi gave great interviews first 2 years in power..ideal scenario would be to judge after 2-3 years.

I just hope there are less u turns going forward. They need to make their decisions wisely rather than going through this process of trial and error.

IK often seems obsessed with leadership than improving the country. Comes across as being very self centred at times. Call it whatever you want but he does often change his original stance.

Its very common for any leader to change his or her stance according to the situation, call it a U-Turn or what but this is how the world of politics works. The Pakistani opportunist media as usual making a mountain of a small mole.

Why PTI fans are not taking Imran Khan to task for his uturns?

So Imran Khan took another uturn, this time on dictator Pervaiz Musharaff. Before he used to call for death penalty to dictator Pervaiz Musharaff for breaking the constitution. Now that a court has actually awarded death penalty to dictator Pervaiz Musharaff, Imran Khan is fighting against this decision

Most PTI fans are also now supporting dictator Pervaiz Musharaff and actually trying to justify his rule instead of them asking Imran Khan to be firm with his earlier stand  Why PTI fans are not taking Imran Khan to task for his uturns?

Get this: As per his current mindset, Imran Khan would have supported dictator Ayub Khan over real leader Fatimah Jinnah. And PTI fans would be justifying it too. Sad state of affairs.

I fully support the verdict against Musharraf even though the judges were clearly biased. There are some ”u-turns” of Imran Khan that I don’t agree with, however I don’t understand why people think ”u-turns” are bad. Being a flexible and a pragmatic leader is actually ideal. Most great leaders were.

Deng Xiaoping opened China’s economy once he got into power despite being a communist and a follower of Mao Zedong.
Otto Von Bismarck was a conservative statesman from Prussia who often sided with liberals and anti-war politicians even though he spent most of his political career criticizing them. He’s mostly known for uniting all of the German states into a unified Germany.

Of course one can criticize Imran’s policies and stances on different issues, but
u-turns in itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing if it works in Pakistan’s favour.

Also if I’m not wrong, Imran did support Musharraf’s coup in 1999, so this isn’t the first ”u-turn” on Musharraf.

I agree that Khan has his shortcomings but he is doing the best he can. slowly but surely the country is headed in the right direction. Its not like we have any alternative leader who genuinely cares about the well being of the nation.

Benazir and Imran both supported Musharraf take over in 1999 there is actually 2 videos of bibi available where she is openly supporting Musharraf over Nawaz.

Which of Imran Khan's U-turns are the most astonishing?

So Imran Khan took another u-turn, this time on NAB by severely restricting its power against corrupt bureaucrats and businessmen. Lot of corrupt bureaucrats and businessmen will get relief with this u-turn.

So which Imran Khan's u-turn is most astonishing? Some of them I remember are:

• Him against mass transit systems and then starting one himself

• Him saying not going to IMF and then going to them

• Him repeatedly saying to take all looted money from Nawaz Sharif and then letting him leave the country without getting the looted money back

• Him against Musharaff's breaking of constitution and asking for death penalty and now when court give Musharaff death penalty then not supporting court

• Him saying make NAB strong and support it and now severely undermine it

Please feel free to add other Imran Khan's u-turns which I have missed

Can you enlighten as to even one achievement of NAB?

For me its the Army Chief's extension . I mean its blatant af when it comes to the hypocrisy of it all. Then again , who else do we got besides him ?

All are astonishing to me. Even if some of the U turns made sense politically, I always thought of him as someone who will stick with whatever he has originally said or planned. Even if at first those decisions may not be fruitful or politically correct. The leadership he displayed as captain is a testament to that determination and poise. But his complete and shameless capitulation and going against all his previous promises is truly a tragedy. His supporters will obviously go blue in the face explaining the merits of each and every one of his U turns but the facts speak for themselves. Actually, the U turns started a few years before the last elections with his open arms policy to every political lota in the country, e.g. Amir Liaquat. The strategy was obvious, winning at all costs. The supporters argued that all will be well once he is in power. We all know the rest.

If you are a critic for the sake of criticism and you looked at IK as a messiah then every u-turn should be astonishing to you. lol

The first one is political talk.
the second one i know he did not want to go to IMF, that's was the reason Asad Omar resigned. Its a third party who forced IK to go to IMF and bring money for them.
rest three and worse and i think that destroyed his reputation.

As long as he keeps the Sharifs and Bhuttos (Zardaris) away from ruling and bankrupting Pakistan he will have my support.

That’s all needed to be done and things will start to get better, it’ll take time unless you believe he is a messiah as many of his critics believed ;)

if that's the case then why does he not realize the blunder he has made with the Usman Buzdar?

NAB hasn't achieved anything significant because Politicians have used NAB to settle vendetta's this is exactly why NAB should be given more independence and power so they can actually do something without being influenced by politicians. The fact that IK did the exact opposite means NAB will continue to be a useless institution.

Poor choice of words. Understood what he meant to say probably.

NAB is a protector of the corrupt. It has in theory all the independence it needs but its Chairman was appointed by NS, AZ and MR. Its sole aim is to pretend to do something, whilst all the time doing everything to protect the crooks. Let's see if the FIA under Wajid Zia can do any better.

In politics, every one takes a u turn in every corner of the world.

People only mention IK when it comes to U turn, but i challenge them to search about U turns made by their beloved parties and i can assure you, results will be shocking to them.

If a U turn is good for the country, i won't mind if any political leader takes the U turn step. So i dont know what it is being made such a huge issue.

It is about credibility. U-turn is not good trait and hence lack of confidence from the investors who cannot trust u-turn leader.

If there is deadline, you don’t want to be on the receiving end of u-turn leader.

Going u-turn on Musharraf’s case and becoming the complete puppet of main establishment with the timing of selective accountability and controlled elections, it is becoming clearly obvious now.

we all know everyone take a u turn. IK promised so many things, He gave us hope and now he is taking U turn, then what is the difference between him and previous mafia?
He should have made NAB stronger not restricted. Nab can not go after the business men because those business men met with Army Chief few months ago.

What he promised, he is doing it so. He promised jobs, he is giving. He promised better economoy, he is doing. He promised houses, he is doing. He promised to make NAB e.t.c interdependent, FIA e.t.c and we have witnessed for the first time that huge names got caught.

Its not IK fault if they are getting free passes from Courts. How is it IK fault? Still he havent attacked courts or judges like previous government used to do so. This isnt independence of these departments, then what else is?

For the first time Malik Riaz answered to the questions and he had to submit money to Pakistan. How come?

Same NAB who got PTI leaders as well. This is restrictions?

So if try to dig a bit deeper then you will know that there is day light difference between current govt and previous one.

I am yet to see that. However, i am in favor of it. I would love to see that day light for the sake of my country, to me it does not matter who brings that day light. As long there is a day light i will take it happily.

but the same courts send them to jail? How it is a free passes then?

For example take a case of Shehbaz, Nawaz e.t.c

Court is begging Shehbaz to show up otherwise court will do this and that.. but the result?

Court ordered Nawaz to submit his medical reports weekly, but.. ??

And there are other numerous example as well. So tell me how it is IK fault?

But the question is why did court let them go in first place.
Second no one said it is Ik fault when it comes to court.
The only question i raised is instead giving freedom to NAB and making them powerful so they can do accountability of anyone. Nab is not going after the business men. Why business mafia is getting free hand.
Ik can make NAB powerful because he is in power. if he can not do it then who is gonna do it?

He can't, needs a 2/3 majority to do that. The chairman is a crook, he was caught red handed sexually abusing women in his office and the Nooras and the PPP starred rona dona to save him. This loser is their man. NAB is just a corrupt organisation to protect these crooks.

Thanks for clearing. I was the under the impression that he can change the chairman like other departments. I think he should bring a bill then to remove chairman.

lol....i will try if i can find something different..

Both NS and AZ were prosecuted because of the SC, and in the case of AZ its still not come to court, Why? The whole drama of arresting people and not prosecuting is done to protect the crooks. The modus operandi of NAB is to arrest, do nothing and then let some crooked judge let go, using the time bar laws.

It needs a constitutional amendment to reform NAB. Just read up on the sexual abuse by this crook and how the Nooras and PPP saved him.

The cases are real and are prosecutable but NAB is there for the protection of the crooks. It knows the evidence exists, it starts an investigation and then arrests these crooks and then does nothing . If NAB was for real, the Nooras and the PPP would have got rid of it when they were in alliance over the last 10 years.

since NAB is protecting all the mafia then i think PTI should create/organize a new department similar to NAB who can catch all the crooks and work independently.

The cold War stopped, the Balakot attack changed things to the real thing.

okay.....Not a reason to defy merit . If our army as an institution can not find a capable replacement of the last guy there we have bigger issues than a war with india. Either its a professional instutition that runs that runs like a well oiled machine or its just a power grab . IMO extension is nothing but a greedy power hungry move by our current chef. I am sure there are plenty of well qualified and smart guys waiting in the wings to take over.

You know how important he is when you see the reaction from the Hindutuva and their allies at home. If you enemies are celebrating then you know he is doing a good job.
