Musharraf ruled from 1999 to 2008, the PPP ruled from 2008 to 2013 and PML-N have ruled from 2013 to now.

Musharraf was definately unpopular towards the end of his reign. Personally for me i believe his biggest mistake was the NRO and a few decisions at the end of his reign.

But seriously speaking, if you compare his reign to the reign's of the 2 next govt's that followed after him, people are missing his reign right now.

What's the consensus on him now and would you mind him playing a very active role in Pakistani politics?

I love the way he defends Pakistan on International media, Indian media and shuts up students, reporters asking tough questions

Mush started great but ultimately failed because he got greedy. He had the evidence to destroy the crooked family businesses but instead chose to blackmail to stay in power. History will never forgive Mush.

Mush was a typical army general, both ends of his reign bookended by failed experiments. He threw thousands of troops under the bus in Kargil, then joined the War on Terror for some quick money but that is a move that is haunting Pakistan to this day.

Then typically burned out after 5-6 years in typical military fashion. The democratic government that followed were left to pick up the pieces.

From an economic point of view, two of the biggest economic blunders in our economic history were committed under Mush and then later under the latest iteration of N-League so those two can't be compared to PPP who were generally incompetent and corrupt but did not do the kind of lasting economic damage that the China FTA (Musharraf) or CPEC (N League) did so they don't compare to Mush/NS in terms of long term economic damage. Mush and NS' blunders will define our economic future for the next 100 years and those 100 years are going to be rough to put it mildly. Apart from that, there's little to pick between the three.

Errr, NO. He actully put them on Indias head.

So Einstein what would you have done, declared war on US?

Mush did the sane thing and directed the war away from Pakistan, when India offered US bases to station there army and violate Paks sovereignity

I dont know what you mean by he joined the WOT because the whole world did, Taliban were isolated. Instead of going full throttle at US he directed the war away from us. But your obviously still angry at Kargil.

:)))

Even a donkey's rule would be better than jamhooriat of PPP and PML-N.

Mush did only two blunders , one, forgivng NS , instead hanging him. second , NRO.
he regrets about NRO.

His explanation about the NRO was that the corruption cases against the 2 leaders were going nowhere. Prosecutors were unable to find prosecutable evidence. The accussed are masterminds in covering their tracks

he was right. but one thing for sure. you cant call him dictator. a dictator wont let pvt channels/media flourish.
in my opinion. pakistan havent seen a real dictator. once they did. they will know whats the real meaning of Martial law .

I think his explanation on NRO was different.

He needed a deal with BB and she gave options like NRO, PM being 3rd time etc. Mush went with the 3rd time PM choice but Choudarys of Gujrat didnt allow it and the party elected to use NRO in his deal.

I think in the case of the Sharifs- he was told to lay off by the Saudis hence the London flats his brother king of Saudia Arabia brought him. An unforgivable betrayal by Mush.

He didnt need to anything, he should have been a dictator and then gone on his own terms. His greed led to the NRO, which in turn led to his humiliation.
