So good practice games for both sides and some morale boosting outcomes would be good for both.

Are we expecting both sides to play their second string teams and rest their key players? I am expecting BA to rest given he had fever etc

Update from PZ:

Babar Azam is not feeling well, so Tom Kohler Cadmore will captain Peshawar Zalmi today vs Islamabad United

Islamabad United have won the toss and have opted to bowl first

Ugly head up in the air slog from Saim.

I was looking forward to watch him bat today - oh well.

Wow, Mr Sammy has rung the changes. Failed to defend 240 twice so they replace the entire attack :))

Today’s match shows Babar doesn’t do much in T20s teams can play well without him.

Peshawar will need a big score weak bowling plus some power hitters in Islamabad’s line up.

Wickets starting to tumble, Zalmi need some rearguard action to reach that 220+

What is wrong with Sana? Why does she keep taking digs at players?

“Hassan was bashed at dropping a catch in the World Cup so he is really happy that he caught one”

Wonder if an anchor was needed to carry the innings momentum through to the end. Could be a bad collapse here

Zalmi lucky Quetta conceded 260 yesterday and lost it would have got tight for qualification.

This Haseebullah drama will end in tears

He can only play the fuller deliveries

What a mess PZ have made.

200 plus was on.

Some wild shots.

You mean the team that put up 240+ twice in a row is now struggling to get to 180? That same team or are you referring to another like KK?

Finish on 179/8.

Disappointing after they were 132/2 after 11.1 overs

PZ were on course to get 240 again without Babar

It was Cadmore and Neesham who messed this up for them

The middle order messed up a good platform not sure what your referring too the top 3 batsmen did fine for the first 10 overs.

There's a 60 run difference between 180 and 240 on the same pitch

Again wait until both teams bat different days conditions less favourable they still lost both matches scoring 240 everyone just needs to be fair on analysis of players and not have ways of trying to make certain players look good whilst trolling and ridiculing others because of likes and dislikes.

Can't believe this is the same Pindi pitch!

Babar taking rest now so that he's not dropped for Afghanistan series haha

Nothing wrong what she said about choker Hasan Ali also cost us a test series against West Indies by dropping a sitter.

Shadab needs to be removed from captaincy if he fails to get to the final once again.

Still not playing. As long as the fever isn't too serious, it's not a problem.

You r saying he should play in fever. What has this match to do with babar playing or not playing afghanistan series.

I'm not comparing the 2 different teams playing today, im just laying out only Peshawer's batting performance for you, since you were the one keen to bring up Babar. You're the one trying to ridicule him. It's all good as long as you stick to what you're preaching

I hope Shadab's team doesn't take him seriously when he says "humare liye results matter nahi karte"

5 dot balls by Shadab when nrr is 12. Some just defended back to bowler. What is he thinking?

Shabab is what you call a wanabee.. ran away from tests. Guy wouldn’t have had a career of more than 3 months if he’d been at a decent cricket playing nation !!

What I said was normal and not an issue with any player other than Babar because he can play slower than players who aren’t even picked by their international teams and we should accept Babar as some kind of great T20 batsman occupying an important position for Pakistan.

Not here as results are what matters and the players who can play best in different positions should be picked.

Rana are you supporting PZ now that KK are out?

Asif Ali had a very poor PSL. I guess his days of being in Pakistani team are over with emergence of Azam Khan.

And is it just me or did I just see Babar and Simon have a chat off the pitch from the corner of my eye, a clip may have been shown during this PZ/IU game

Well, this is not surprising, given that the team doesn't care about results.

Peshawar winning like I said wait until both teams bat as the pitch is different today and not as flat.

Top 3 of Saim, Haris, and Abdullah would be nice against Afghanistan.

Has TKC captained at any level before, how come he is captaining ahead of some more senior players at PZ.

Faheem Ashraf seems to have found his batting again. In international games, he usually bats like a proper tailender.

Ah thanks, my mind wasn’t playing tricks while I was multi tasking :yk3

All bias folk have aside, Babar is an elite player and it’s good to get a kick up the behind every now and then, Simon seems to genuinely care about Babar’s progress and hence, has lit a fire, hopefully.

What a game, best league in the world, excellent bowling and batting. Really enjoyed this!

Asif Ali never has been able to score his entire career just a fluke game or two each season.

Wonder who is worse? Asif or HappyHeart?? Can't believe someone wanted the former to Kuptaan Pakistan.

Faheem has certainly improved and no longer belongs in the same category as the two clowns above.

Bar in the tests where he has scored some very useful innings in some very trying conditions like England and New Zealand....

Shadab saying that he wanted some players to get in form thats why some experimentation in batting order, strange as the win would have sealed second position for sure and one more chance in play offs.

Yeah, i was just going to say, is this guy in his senses??

Not the first time I have seen Islamabad United looking like a gun side in the group matches only for them to badly bottle it in the playoffs when it really matters.

My God Asif Ali is such a waste of a spot. You are literally an extra wicket down before the match even starts with this guy in the side.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore | Peshawar Zalmi captain: From the last two games, I thought we were 60 short. But it got tougher and our bowlers learned from the first innings and bowled well. The bowlers adapted to conditions, it was holding a little bit and we were able to build pressure. I thought Mujeeb was outstanding, everyone else chipped in with wickets. It'll be a different day, we'll have to turn up in Lahore. That's the good thing about knockout cricket, we're just three wins away from lifting the trophy.

Mohammad Haris | Player of the Match: We were initially thinking of getting 220. But i realised it wasn't that sort of pitch. The ball was gripping a touch. I'm flexible about my batting position, be it one down or opening.

Shadab Khan | Islamabad United captain: We experimented in this game, we wanted to give everyone an opportunity and give players a chance who were not in form to get back into form. We wanted to win the game but it didn't happen. We thought it was definitely chaseable but we didn't play well.

The 15 March Qualifier will be a repeat of the HBL PSL 7 final between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans after Peshawar Zalmi overcame Islamabad United by 13 runs in a thrilling 29th match of the HBL PSL 8 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Peshawar Zalmi suffered a middle-order collapse to stutter to 179 for eight and then overcame Faheem Ashraf’s late charge to dismiss Islamabad for 166 in 19.4 overs.

The result meant Islamabad United and Multan Sultans finished their league matches on 12 points each. However, Multan Sultans were placed second and Islamabad United third on net run-rate, meaning Multan Sultans will meet table-toppers and defending champions Lahore Qalandars on 15 March in the Qualifier and Islamabad United will again take on fourth-placed Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator 1 on 16 March.

The winner of the 15 March Qualifier will progress to the 19 March final, while the losing side will have another opportunity to earn a place in the final when they will take on the winner of the 16 March Eliminator 1 in Eliminator 2 on 17 March.

After Islamabad United’s top and middle-order made a mess of a straightforward run-chase by slipping from 65 for three to 111 for eight, No.8 batter Faheem Ashraf came to the party and slapped four sixes and two fours in a 13-ball 38 to give his side some hope. In association with Mohammad Wasim (14 not out), the left-hander added 55 runs from 24 balls for the ninth wicket.

With 21 runs required in the final over, Faheem struck a six off the second ball to bring the target down to 14 from four balls. However, Khurram Shahzad castled Faheem and Fazalhaq Farooqi off successive deliveries to seal a memorable win for Peshawar Zalmi, who in the previous two matches had failed to defend totals of 240 and 242.

While Khurram finished with figures of three for 13 in 10 balls, spinner Sufiyan Muqeem caused the middle-order collapse by accounting for Shadab Khan (25), Asif Ali (5) and Hasan Ali (0) to finish with figures of three for 37.

Jimmy Neesham picked up the prized scalps of middle-order batters Rahmanullah Gurbaz (33) and Colin Munro (15) to end with two for 23, while Aamer Jamal scooped the wickets of top-order batters Alex Hales and Sohaib Maqsood (15 each) to finish with two for 28.

Earlier, Mohammad Haris and Bhanuka Rajapaksa put on 115 runs in 58 balls for the second wicket to put Peshawar Zalmi on course for another colossal total when they took their side to 116 for the loss of Saim Ayub (0) at the halfway stage.

But the Strategic Timeout turned things on its head as Islamabad United roared back to capture seven wickets for 63 runs to restrict Peshawar Zalmi to 179 for eight. This included an unfinished 18-run ninth wicket stand from 21 balls between Khurram Shahzad (11 not out) and Sufiyan Muqeem (6 not out).

Haris top-scored with an attractive 79 off 39 balls with seven fours and five sixes, while Rajapaksa slapped four fours and two sixes in a 25-ball 41. Haris’ maiden half-century of this tournament came from 26 balls with five fours and three sixes. He was later adjudged player of the match.

Hasan Ali was the pick of Islamabad United bowlers with three for 39, while Shadab Khan took two for 42.

Zalmi look such a powerful top order without Babar.

Saim, Haris, Rajapaksa and TKC - amazing!

They could probably do with TKC leading the side in the playoffs
