Some poor picks today. Sameen is a good pick- he should learn a lot from Hasan.

Hammad is a decent t20 batsman.

They're lucky their retained players are good, because their picks today were atrocious.

Not the best squad on paper. Don't think we will be able to retain the trophy unless Hasan continues his golden form.

The MVP for me is Shakib. Will he be available for the whole tournament or are Bangladesh scheduled to play in February?

Lewis is obviously the best supplementary player out of all the supplementary players that have been picked.

Thankfully we got rid of the rubbish Junaid, but Hammad and Nasim are pointless selections. However, Bravo is a good replacement for Afridi.

Bangladesh have a tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe according to the FTP next February at home. They then tour the Caribbean in March.

A very top-heavy squad. We should make the play-offs, but I think we will fall short this time.

think the team is as balanced as any in the comp

the only issue that sticks out to me is lack of quality pacers, lot of pressure is on Hasan

playing 11 should be :

Evin lewis (f)
Kamran Akmal (wk)
Mohd Hafeez
Darenn Bravo(f)
Shakib al Hasan(f)
Hammad Azam
Darren Sammy (f)
Hassan ali
Wahab Riaz
Mohd Asghar
Sameen Gul (E)

Doubt that Hammad will play a lot of matches. They got a lot of allrounders this time. With Afridi out they could use someone like Hammad at 6 though.

If the right batsman gets a hold of Hammad, he could go for 36. Such a juicy bowler.

Unlikely we see him in the next PSL.

The definition of a trundler.

He needs to forget his bowling and play as a batsman. Otherwise he has no chance.

2nd or 3 worst team in the tournament. Matchwinners Kami and Hasan will need to carry the team once again. Not sure if they can keep repeating their heroics.

A bit has been squad and many of the players actually are not T20 players. If Lewis is available, Tamim shouldn't play, but their possible starting XI should have Tamim, Sameen and Haris, who are not T20 players. Also, MoHa, Kamran, Sammy, Wahab, Bravo are more in the veteran category - each a year closer towards wrong direction. They might struggle this year unless Shakib, Hasan & few others has an exceptional tournament.

Kami
Tahim
Harris
Hafeez
Shakib
Hammad
Sammy
Bravo
Asghar
Wahab
Hasan

Bowling attack isn't bad. But other than Hasan not many wicket takers. Batting line up is hit or missed, any team that is dependent on Kami and Hafeez is in trouble. Furthmore as MMHS mentioned some key players are another year older.

Will reach the play offs but think LQ and Islamabad are stronger .

Hopefully Mohammad Arif gets a chance.
SarfiBabarHaris is Ibtisam Sheikh related to Shakeel by any chance?

This squad is so bipolar. At one hand you have the likes of Wahab Riaz, Kamran Akmal and Hafeez while on the other hand you have Hasan Ali, Asghar and a new kid named Sameen Gul. Could be interesting.

The former 3 have performed in the PSL consistently barring Hafeez IIRC

You are correct and I think last time after 6 consecutive failures Hafeez too managed to play a meaningful innings. Still this is one year later and the three mentioned don't really excite me much. Perhaps Wahab can be potentially exciting if he is throwing some thunderbolts and using his mind.

Peshawar Zalmi has a balanced squad if all foreign players are available by the time PSL starts.

Tamim and Shakib are going to make a big difference if they play compared to other foreign players as PSL is in sub continental conditions and they are good players.

Most of the big names in the other squads will not be available by the time PSL is at its business end so any team with better local players will perform better.

1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Evin Lewis
3. Kamran Akmal
4. Professor
5. Haris
6. Shakib
7. Bravo
8. Sammy
9. Hasan Ali

on paper looks a stronger team than Multan for sure, which should be expected as they are new.

I guess you could take a risk with Wahab as well, if it feels light on pace, but the team already has 6 front-line bowling options, without counting Sammy.

I think, Lewis won't be available for most part, may be 1/2 games at most, otherwise he would have been among 1st 1/2 picks. There is only one confusion between Hammad or Wahab, otherwise the squad is quite settled. Ideally, Hammad should play, but Wahab is Platinum pick :(, which means they rate him highest and didn't risk losing him, so they'll play him (otherwise won't have retained him, rather tried to bring back as Gold from open draft). PZ's starting line up should be like -

1. ^Tamim
2. Kamran+
3. ^Shakib
4. Haris
5. MoHa
6. ^Dwayne Bravo
7. ^Darren Sammy*
8. Hasan
9. Wahab
10. Asghar
11. e~Sameen

I am almost certain that MoHa will take the No. 4, if not 3 spot and push Hari (and Shakib), one slot lower.

This is on papers, one of the best XI - some of the best T20 players on reputation are there. But, 5/6 key players in that line-up are in decline due to age - Sammy, Wahab, MoHa, Kamran, Bravo are no where the players they were at their peak (basically, they are surviving for their reputation), while Tamim & Hari are not great T20 players. I guess, it'll take outstanding PSL from Shakib, Hasan & Asghar (& the new kid Sameen) to take PZ in Finals - they are more likely to miss out the first cut to Multan or IU.

I agree with everything here, except for the emphasis of the last paragraph. A bit harsh, yes, they are declining players, but some of them can still be quite effective, especially in the UAE/Pak. MoHa can contribute with the ball as well and chip in with the bat.

Wahab is Platinum pick , which means they rate him highest Agree with this completely. Hadn't considered his platinum status in my side. Shouldn't really be in the first XI on merit.

Yes, unfortunately I agree with you here as well. Wish he had batted lower down for most of his career.

Correction: I agree with everything here, except for the emphasis of the last paragraph. A bit harsh, yes, they are declining players, but some of them can still be quite effective, especially in the UAE/Pak. MoHa can contribute with the ball as well and chip in with the bat. Their declining potential is a worry and a risk, I agree. But I think in their own conditions, this squad have an odds on chance to beat Multan for sure, although anything can happen in T20's.

Peshawar Zalmi has some good retentions, otherwise this squad would look very poor. They’ve gone for too many allrounders and I doubt the likes of Hammad Azam or Saad Nasim would get much opportunities.
Only good buys were Dwayne Bravo and Evin Lewis, as well as retaining Tamim Iqbal. The team won’t win this time around, but may get into the last 4 as it’s bowling attack is quite strong and some solid batsmen

I didn't insult them - rather read it this way - PZ has MoHa, Wahab & Bravo as Platinum; at their prime indeed they could have justified that, but now they are occupying 3 top slots - may be they have gained on Shakib (was deserving Plat, instead of Bravo), but still 2 spots to cover 2 players, who probably would struggle to justify even gold now. Then, Tamim & Kamran are also higher in Diamond, may be Sammy as well in gold, because he is struggling big time these days. That makes that about half of their team is slotted in higher category (means, other teams may be have better value for money), which should affect them in a tournament of 10 matches.

Thankfully some bureaucrat didn't put Hasan Ali in emerging player category. You can never be too sure in Pakistan cricket.

It is an attempt to create a good brand image
Unfortunately they have not always lived up to their promises
Javed Afridi has a good vision, but it hasn’t been followed through by his staff (as far as I’ve seen)

Think PZ trying to establish their brand as people who are doing lots for cricket in Pakistan?

That much I understand.

But the details seem sketchy and quite frankly I don't see what practical purpose it serves.

Aga Salman should try to get in this team - they have too many SLAO spinner (with MoHa blocked from bowling). Aga can replace Haris or Asghar

Global Zalmi League owned by Peshawar Zalmi will be starting tomorrow (Sunday, 11th Feb) in Ajman. 16 foreign teams will be taking part in Global Zalmi League. Pakistan and Indian overseas cricketers will be playing together in Global Zalmi League and cricket will unite the two nations.

First match of the Global Zalmi League will be played between Dubai and Victoria Zalmi at Eden Gardens, Ajman. Chairman stated that this league will ignite hunger of cricket fans before start of the Pakistan Super League.

It's worth mentioning that Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy and other superstars of Peshawar Zalmi will attend the Semi final and Final of Global Zalmi League on 20th Feb.

That Zalmi jacket won't go on any bigger players than that.

:salute
