Not sure that's the reason. This all concurring ENG team couldn't clear a single short ball at Old Trafford, when surprisingly they extended the line beyong 65 metres.
I can tell you exactly why - power hitting doesn't come from muscle. It comes from back-lift, bat swing, foot work & balance when shifting body weight. MODERN players are groomed on 60 metre grounds with mallets at hand and absolute dead tracks, which doesn't need foot work; also heavy bats have taken out the high back-lift from the game.
Tamim is one of very few current batsman with a high back-lift & full swing of the bat - he looks like club cricketer if I compare the same with Sobers, Lara, Anwar or Greeme Pollock (Just comparing the lefties here) in that regard. Make the ground standard size where Viv Richards used to clear 100 metres with 2lb 13oz bat - most MODERN great won't hit equal number of SIX in a year that they hit now in a match with 4 lb mallets in 60 metre grounds.
