Pet Hates thread

It is subjective. But here's my criteria for burger kids:

- do not care/know about Pakistan.
- believe Pakistanis are "low-culture" and tacky.
- filthy rich, extreme upper class who have no idea about the problems the masses face.
- try to apply Western Ideals onto everything (and then crying about how such ideals don't complement our society, and hence we are "backward.").
- completely removed from our society values.
- Idolise/follow Western TV shows, artists, issues, etc.
- Can speak barely passable Urdu (prefer English - tinted with fake accents).


There are probably more, but thats what comes to mind.

Favourite chips, pakoras, chocolates etc threads.

There is a world out there and this is what people want to discuss?

Watching Spondgebob. That show has ran its course. Its about time they end it now along with Fairly Odd Parents.
 
Beating your wife up and breaking things. Even using abusive language. If you have differences, settle them like cultured humans, not animals. Its too prevalent in our society.

Always enjoyable when the wife strikes back, but it has much more disastrous long term results.

SpongeBob is timeless for me, along with Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dexter's Laboratory and Ed, Edd n Eddy. :arafat
 
Cartoon Network is really mediocre now. Not a fan of the new age cartoons.
 
Funny because Scooby-Doo is my least favorite of the lot and you are probably the first person who doesn't like Tom and Jerry.
 
Seriously. Someone set up a "Chat Thread". I love idle talk but we cant just let it spread everywhere otherwise the forum becomes one giant thread of random stuff
 
When my little brother tries telling me the new cartoons they make nowadays are better than the old ones :facepalm:
 
People who always attempt to finish your sentences and get it wrong most of the time.

Especially when you're telling a story and they try to pre-empt the punchline.
 
People who visibly tune out when you're talking to them and pretend they're still listening through empty nods and responses.

So your pet hate is when people are still talking to you when you're not interested?

Or when people just abruptly stop talking?

This particular pet hate of mine is reserved for work. I can't stand it when I'm taking time out to explain and teach concepts to juniors and all I get from some of the interns and analysts is hair twirling (girls), blank looks and chewing gum.

I find it incredibly rude not to pay attention if someone is addressing me, even if they are talking about watching paint dry. However, there are some people you simply don't want to listen to, or when you do you can't help but slack off. If they notice they should respect your lack of interest and stop. Also, many people don't like to listen to me, or they don't want after a period of time which is when I learned not to address them or not to any further.

A Maulvi who minds his own business would be a breath of fresh air for sure.
 
Hate TV adds that are so painfully fake and yet they want you to believe that if you buy the product your life will suddenly be brilliant...

Ones that include picturesque families that are perfect in every way annoy me the most...

I understand you want me to associate the product with happiness but for christs sake be honest please

I don't know of him or what he is accused to have done but I know he has a face I would like to punch and a beard I would like to pull.
 
When someone says hi to you then says bye to you. I mean whats the point of saying hi, if your gonna say bye to me?

I would set the beard on fire. Then, when that punchable face is nicely toasted and burnt, I would work on it with a knife. Then, let it fester for a few days and then douse it in acid. Then leave him in agony for a few days, and then rinse repeat. It will make me feel so, so good.

Its a vicious cycle. Feel active at night, stay up late, wake up late, stay up late the next night, and so on. I had success with forcing myself not to go to sleep for a night. Next night I'm too tired to feel active or to stay up late.

2 AM. Which means you're in the Eastern Time Zone. I wish I were too. As it is I'm behind the times, so to speak, in the Godforsaken Midwest. The Midwest is a pet hate. Flyoverland. Flat corn-infested flyoverland.

You are absolutely right! And as of now, I'm very hungry. Probably because I missed dinner and had popcorn, green tea, yogurt and a banana instead.

Another pet hate: Late lunches. I have them, I get too full for dinner, and then I live through the night like a hungry owl :L

Late night eating, the bane of the dieter. Work hard to track the calories throughout the day, and then at night, all that effort down the drain. I just polished off some ice cream :(

The Midwest is pretty bad. I miss the Appalachians, hillbillies, moonshine and all.

Wow.. I'm on a diet (not those crazy fad diets, but a healthy one). I've basically cut out all added sugars/processed foods. But your post made me crave ice cream, all of a sudden.

There's a pack of Chips Ahoy at my place. Ice-cream cookie sandwich. Aw man....

I hate it when I can't have sugar :(

Yup, sugar and salt. Sugar is evil incarnate. And salt causes water retention.

I actually lost 80 lb a couple of years ago. I've gained ten back since. I'm happy enough with where I am, but I've gotten into this weird pattern where I maintain or lose for most of the month and towards the end of the month give myself a few cheat days in succession. That's a pet hate.

At least there's only two days left in May, which is the good news. The bad news is in those two days I know I will indulge myself quite a bit.

I haven't had Chips Ahoy in a while. These days it's Anna's Thins and Chocolate Digestives. There's a store nearby that sells British bisskuts. Anna's thins are Swedish, and actually not too bad calorie-wise.

That's great actually - I happen to have a high bone-density. I'm told I look 10lb lighter than I actually am, though my weight falls in the healthy BMI range, I'd still like to lose a good 10-15 lbs in a few months - to rid myself of the weight and hopefully, never gain those pounds back.

Had 2 glasses of water, so now I'm full though :)

A pet hate of mine is that sometimes (actually often), I get these phases where I'm not sure at all what I'm going to do with my life. The uncertainty is awful. I want to be the very best at something, and I am willing to pour all my energy and soul into something. I just don't know what.

Considering the fact I'm so far from home, in pursuit of a good education - this feeling comes as a knife straight to my heart.

I hate it when I see someone riding a two wheeler without wearing a helmet. Most people wear an excuse of a plastic helmet here in India which only covers their hair partially and is not strapped up against the bottom of their chin. Their excuse? Well we know how to deal with the cops if they challan us. It's meant to protect your head during an accident moron!

On similar lines, I hate it when people in a car look at me as if I am an alien when I sit on the front passenger seat next to the driver and buckle myself up. "Hey you don't need to do that here, Police don't bother in this city"... really tests my patience.

And some people drive/ride with their kids behind the wheel (sitting on the driver's lap or on the petrol tank of a bike). How can you be okay with putting your own kid's life in danger? Beats me really.

I hate it when someone puts on a rap song while I am in a car or anywhere. It then feels like jail since I am forced to listen to it, when I don't understand it.

Ive seen 8 year olds with them too :facepalm:

If you go down to the library at 3 pm you'll see a few 6 and 7 year olds on facebook. Couldnt believe it when i first saw it..

One more thing similar, the attitude of kids these days towards their seniors.
I mean the primary children in my school disrespect us with such ease we ourselves are left dumbfounded. If we did that when we were children we would have got a good spanking

I know i sound like an old man but yeah kids these days have no respect. If you misbehave as a kid the wooden spoon should be used but oh no the PC brigade arent happy :facepalm:

I also hate when people who are obese blame others or fast food companies for their issue. You're fat because you eat a lot and are lazy. And no Diet Coke wont help!!

I hate playing the sidekick in a job. I like it more when I know what I am doing, then standing around and giving the tools to the hero.
