If Pakistani fans thinking losing two finals, losing a home Test and ODI series makes this a successful year then it sums up the low expectations of the fans. It reinforces the belief that Pakistan is now a small team and therefore, with small expectations.
Imagine BCCI organising this after India lost against Nz in WTC final.
A tournament in which you can't actually go to the finals with flukes.
The fans are the ultimate consumers of the game. It is evident that the team was able to satisfy and make a good number of their fans happy. So, they have succeeded and these celebrations have some merit.
On a serious note, the PCB could have found other ways to encourage them rather than these celebrations. I remember, after returning from the WC 2003 in South Africa, the Indian team celebrated - they met some Government officials at lunch or dinner. There were rumors that they refused to sit with journalists. In a way, some of the youngsters have started behaving like superstars. And we know what happened in the 2007 ODI WC. Let us hope Pakistan doesn't become a victim of unnecessary hype and hope they play well in the coming years.
You're reading too much into it.
I think Ramiz organised this event just to brush aside the negativity created by some unwarranted over-the-top criticism by a few toxic ex-players and their cheerleaders.
Just an attempt to lift the spirit of the boys ahead of the upcoming home season.
Our players already lack of liability and mostly play for personal stats rather than win. This grand dinner will create more negative impact on our players. They will be more relax and will not give their best effort in future knowing that they have already done their job. Pathetic crawling attitude by Ramiz.

What accountability? The team reached the finals. England lost to ireland and still won and celebrated, was there accountability there?
There were no loopholes. We were the second best and lost in the finals.
Oh boy you really are a minnow
We fans have high expectations of this team. It is you actually who expects crap and boy every time they prove you wrong.
If you feel Pak team has no loopholes to fix and everything is picture perfect then good luck to you. As far as I recall ENG had their destiny in their hands and didn't depend on other results to go their way. Secondly, ENg lost on D/L method with 2 set batsmen playing and others like woakes and curran yet to come who are no mugs with the bat. Unlike paksitan who lost chains 130. Thirdly, then I guess you woud still be happy to carry Haider, Asif and Kushdil in the team as no accountability about their skills to play international level. Fourthly, out of 18 members 3 of them were either unfit or not match fit. Yet their were made to play fullt realizing it could be detrimental for their career. Lastly how did Haris play ahead of Kushdil who was with teh team all year long. This meant they knew Kushdil was not good enough yet defended his selection arrogantly at every press meet.
I rest my case, nothing else to say.
Agree with your post, but a poor Indian team is not a barometer for the performance of our team. We should focus on our performance only and compare them to successful teams across both World Cups, and unfortunately we came up short twice when we had an excellent chance to go all the way.England lost to Ireland, there is no ifs and buts. Ireland had bowledd well and England had lost crucial wickets. ..
its not Pakistans fault if SA was not good enough that they lost to Netherlands.
Pakistan had things in their own hands. They had to win the last three games. ANd they did that.
Pakistan came runner up. India has only defeated 1 top team from the combine world t20 2021 and 2022 torunament. So I would be more concerned about that if I were you.

Just wondering if other Boards organise such events when their team has won no major title.
Please allow me to list Pakistan’s achievements in 2022:
- lost a home Test series to Australia
- drew a Test series in Sri Lanka
- bottled the Asia Cup Final.
- lost a home T20I series to a severely depleted England team
- won the tri-series in New Zealand
- lost the T20 WC final
There is one word that describes Pakistani cricketers this year: losers.
Mediocre team, mediocre board, mediocre expectations, mediocre mindset.
Just wondering if other Boards organise such events when their team has won no major title.
Agreed.
But in which other country do the ex-cricketers make personal attacks against their own players, in the middle of a WC.
It goes both ways.

Think JUST a dinner would have been fine.
They didn't need to do it as a victory parade type thing.
Why though? What rule book are you looking at?
An employer wants to praise it’s employees. Why are we in pain?
For the first time after a long, we are seeing pakistan cricket board is building a team for future. We need to give confidence to babar and co. and let them showcase their skills. Offcourse with the restarting of home international cricket, we will improve only and we are already on a right track

Will PCB host a reception to celebrate Pakistan getting rinsed by England?![]()
