The governance, corruption and rotten core was there in the past as well- but Pakistan ended up with generational talents. The weakest links i.e. the Afridi, Malik, Kamran were still able to put in hard-hitting performances.

What has changed? It's cricket itself: from a semi-pro sport with exploited grey areas to now professional, transparent, organised rules, regs etc. That's too much for the dehati's to keep up with unfortunately. In this day and age, if you're ending up with players who cannot speak English, then that truly means they've not seen or learnt much under basic schooling and all they've done is played lots of cricket on the streets. No matter how good you may be at the bat swing, there's hardly any juice in the brain to process rational thinking when you move away from the streets.

This is a downward trend, which is exemplified by Pakistan consistently playing B, C, and associate teams on a regular basis since last 7-8 years. Rather than improvement, these type of series has always been a source of criticism even if you end up putting a good performance. Therefore, there's nothing to learn and develop and with time you become dheet even losing to them.

This upcoming UAE-Afg-Pak tri series is a classic case of how Pakistan, and the mighty PCB can be bullied by a few dollars into playing a nothing series that only benefits the associate nations. Even if Pakistan ends up winning that, there's nothing major in the achievement. If you lose, then you're down another ladder of dhittai.

Just pointing out, ik most posters will jump on the bandwagon to make fun of Pakistan but this thread seems petty.

Australia has smiled a dime a dozen times while shaking hands with players lol. Even Ponting who was extremely aggressive on the field would normally do so.

On serious note, T20 loss may not impact players that much and also a picture can be taken just when players were smiling. But if team is not feeling the pain after each loss of different series then it's a problem.

When majority of the players are failing, its not the failure of players its the failure of whole system. No good level of competitive cricket is being played in pakistan domestic cricket. There is no value of winning. The same culture is in the team now, no passion in their eyes, no real effort to excel.

When players know they will keep getting selected because of the pressure they and their fans will impose on the board, they will not be under pressure to retain their spots in the team. Ruthless decision making and fresh players are necessary to help the team move forward. Every team and its players to through cycles where they were performing, doing well and eventually the players lose form, fitness or get worked out and are unable to replicate their past performances anymore and good cricket systems flush these players out immediately and have them replaced immediately with the next batch of players. It is very clear the Pakistani Cricket System at present is giving an unnecessary long rope to the vast majority of the players in the team in comparison to what the players deserve.
