Smiling through the shame? After getting absolutely demolished in the 3rd ODI decider at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba—bowled out for a pathetic 92 in 29.2 overs while chasing West Indies' 294/6.

Pakistan loses the series 2-1, marking West Indies' first ODI series win over them in 34 years since 1991. Shai Hope's unbeaten 120 off 94 balls and Jayden Seales' fiery 6/18 spelled doom for Mohammad Rizwan and co., who collapsed like a house of cards.

Yet here they are—Shaheen Afridi, Babar, Rizwan, and the squad—all grins and laughs post-match. Is this resilience or just shameless denial? Fans deserve better!

Pakistan’s cricket is mediocre — and it will remain that way until the country addresses its deeper, systemic issues.

Fans often demand better, but the reality is that the cricketers are a reflection of the society they come from. Why expect excellence on the field when the foundational problems of governance, infrastructure, and national development remain unaddressed? Improvement in cricket cannot happen in isolation. Only when the country fixes its institutions and governance can cricket begin to improve. Until then, mediocrity is the ceiling — and fans should come to terms with it.

The governance, corruption and rotten core was there in the past as well- but Pakistan ended up with generational talents. The weakest links i.e. the Afridi, Malik, Kamran were still able to put in hard-hitting performances.

What has changed? It's cricket itself: from a semi-pro sport with exploited grey areas to now professional, transparent, organised rules, regs etc. That's too much for the dehati's to keep up with unfortunately. In this day and age, if you're ending up with players who cannot speak English, then that truly means they've not seen or learnt much under basic schooling and all they've done is played lots of cricket on the streets. No matter how good you may be at the bat swing, there's hardly any juice in the brain to process rational thinking when you move away from the streets.

This is a downward trend, which is exemplified by Pakistan consistently playing B, C, and associate teams on a regular basis since last 7-8 years. Rather than improvement, these type of series has always been a source of criticism even if you end up putting a good performance. Therefore, there's nothing to learn and develop and with time you become dheet even losing to them.

This upcoming UAE-Afg-Pak tri series is a classic case of how Pakistan, and the mighty PCB can be bullied by a few dollars into playing a nothing series that only benefits the associate nations. Even if Pakistan ends up winning that, there's nothing major in the achievement. If you lose, then you're down another ladder of dhittai.

This is the effect of Rizwan being inserted into the team in 2019.

The guy would just jump around and smile and joke for no reason. It’s rubbed off and it’s made all of these players into eunuchs with the passage of time.

They are aware of how bad they are, so getting beaten like this repeatedly will have no effect whatsoever
They are in their bubble, and deliberately not listening to noise as a way of keeping the squad united. Obviously they're too thick to realise how stupid it is actually coming across.

Jayden Seales was giving Mohammad Nawaz verbal abusives after he drove him for a 4

He hit Hassan in the head and didn’t even check up on him.

These Besharams can’t wait to congratulate the Windies for humiliating them!

we had one clown now we have more clowns better off opening a circus than playing cricket

The paid media is also busy only making money off Youtube videos, while not grilling the players or the management with tough questions in press conferences/press appearances.

This team has lost to everyone they have played, this is the lowest our cricket has gone in our history and these players look to have no shame and are probably used to it by now.

I don't think it's that serious. They're just giving the other team props and giving a polite smile, no need to read into it lol

Just pointing out, ik most posters will jump on the bandwagon to make fun of Pakistan but this thread seems petty.

Australia has smiled a dime a dozen times while shaking hands with players lol. Even Ponting who was extremely aggressive on the field would normally do so.

This feels like thread bait.

Criticise Pakistan all you wish and I agree they are 100% celebrating failure but it is not due to this picture as the OP implies lol. 🤣🤣.

Smiling when shaking hands is normal.

I was expecting a picture of players cutting a cake.

On serious note, T20 loss may not impact players that much and also a picture can be taken just when players were smiling. But if team is not feeling the pain after each loss of different series then it's a problem.

I meant limited overs loss in bilaterals.

In tournaments, it may mean a lot more to these same players.

It’s good for them to be happy so they can focus on the next game and also because stress is bad for health. Would suggest going to a nice buffet with oxtail, jerk chicken, plantain and steamed rice with some mocktails and enjoy the ocean breeze as well.

May as well live it up, the loss is already done, time to enjoy life. 👍

When majority of the players are failing, its not the failure of players its the failure of whole system. No good level of competitive cricket is being played in pakistan domestic cricket. There is no value of winning. The same culture is in the team now, no passion in their eyes, no real effort to excel.

A lot of the players in the team are way past their best, are out of form, do not deserve to be selected based on form, performances, have not been made to earn their places but they keep getting selected based on past performances, based on talent, potential and reputation. When players know they will keep getting selected because of the pressure they and their fans will impose on the board, they will not be under pressure to retain their spots in the team. Ruthless decision making and fresh players are necessary to help the team move forward. Every team and its players to through cycles where they were performing, doing well and eventually the players lose form, fitness or get worked out and are unable to replicate their past performances anymore and good cricket systems flush these players out immediately and have them replaced immediately with the next batch of players. It is very clear the Pakistani Cricket System at present is giving an unnecessary long rope to the vast majority of the players in the team in comparison to what the players deserve.

Blasphemy.

Babar hasn't reached his peak yet.
