Kohli without doubt is a big star and probably the second best batsman after Steve Smith but what ICC did was stupid and cringey. If UEFA or Fifa have ever shared such a picture for Messi or Ronaldo, i will take it back. And i know you wont because no other organization does cringey and backward bending for a single team like that. Also, if you didnt know cricket is a team game, and they have mentioned WC wins in the picture which Kohli had no significant hand in.
Theres nothing wrong in admitting ICC's clear bias for BCCI. Its simply a fact, acknowledgement is basically us doing the max that we can in terms of raising our voice against this **.
Firstly, Kohli is the best batsman in the world not Smith. One can argue that he is better in Tests, but across all formats, Kohli has no match and his stock is higher than Smith even in Australia.
20-30 years down the line, this era will be remembered as the Kohli era and not the Smith era. Kohli is not just a big star, he is the biggest star in the game today by miles, and the quicker we make peace with it the better.
You are fixated with the ICC making him look like a king, but they have not crowned him as world champion; they have him made him look like a king because he is known as King Kohli. That is all there is to it. If his nickname wasn’t King Kohli, they wouldn’t make him look like a king.
UEFA and FIFA are too big, but ICC is more like La Liga and India is like Madrid and Barcelona. They have too much power and influence, and rightly so.
La Liga gives its two main teams excessive coverage and players like Messi and Ronaldo (in the past) always used to be in the spotlight. It is perfectly normal and understandable. The big superstars always get more coverage.
In golf, Tiger Woods always gets live coverage even when he is not among the leaders, and that is because he is the biggest superstar in golf and people always turn up to watch him. Is it wrong? Clearly not.
You and others can raise your voice on PP and social media as much as you want, but it won’t change a thing. BCCI is and all remain the most powerful board in the country thanks to the incompetence of other boards. BCCI deserves to be in this position because it has worked hard for it.
For example, Pakistan flirted with the idea of T20 cricket, then England put it into practice, but India saw the future of the game and took it to the next level with the IPL.
Other cricket boards started crapping their pants and decided to copy the model because they were too slow off their feet unlike BCCI.
And you mentioned that only Pakistani fans are complaining wrt to India's favorite kid treatment, you are wrong. Your view is myopic. If you consider things beyond this forum, there are many other fans from different nations voicing their opinion against this.
Pakistani fans usually complain more. We cannot digest the fact that Indian cricket is much bigger than Pakistan cricket. As I said, no matter what ICC or BCCI does, we find reasons to whine. It is pathetic really.
And your argument wrt to Pakistan playing Enlgand is totally irrelevant. ICC didnt gave special treatment to Pakistan and allowed only them to play against England. It was an understanding between the two boards during the time Indian board was busy in their IPL. However, in this case ICC made fully sure to give India preferential treatment by alloting them extra time to chill.
How is it irrelevant? Explain to me how a 5 match series against England in England is not a bigger advantage than merely starting the tournament a week later? Also, explain to me how playing 9 matches in 7 less days than every other team is an advantage?
What stopped BCCI from bullying ICC into ensuring that are the last team to finish their group games?
Chalo, im glad that you admit that ACC is nothing in front of BCCI and basically bended their back for BCCI. Good of you to admit that.
I hope you have the courage to admit that ICC has unfairly favored BCCI as well and the bias is now fully out in the open.
There is no bias at all. BCCI generates more revenue for ICC than all other boards put together. It is only normal that they have more influence and power than other boards. Besides, this is just a post by their social media team that has trolled India in the past as well.
No where in the history of sports an international body gotten so badly bullied by a single country. Cricket is nothing in front of football but you would never see such fraudlent favoritism innit. It is an abject failure of ICC, nothing else and their current state of sucking up to BCCI is supremely embarrassing.
FIFA is more powerful than ICC. Just compare the number of teams that play international football to the number of teams that play international cricket. ICC is a small organization and one particular members generates more money than all others combined. It is only normal for BCCI to have more power than other boards.
The problem with you and a few others that you are selectively highlighting examples that makes BCCI look like a bully, but you are also conveniently ignoring examples that show that BCCI is not nearly abusing its power as much as it can and it is also not alienating Pakistan cricket to its full potential.
