Picture of a 12-year-old Rashid Khan

What is the PCB supposed to do when the player brings in a government "birth certificate" indicating whatever age they are? The problem is with the record keepers, especially in the less urban areas who can be paid off to change the record and provide a fudged birth certificate. Things will get better as things records become digitized.

You have bone density tests

Is this still an issue mainly in remote areas of Pakistan rather than the major cities?

Man! Look at his friends! Even if he is 12, he obviously is hanging around with 20 yr olds!

People need to get over this. Its not like his playing with kids....
Why people jelly?

It is a problem when they win certain age-related records, such as youngest to XYZ wickets etc.

It destroys the credibility of these records and grossly unfair to the actual holders of these records.

It is not about Rashid only - Naseem Shah is officially the youngest bowler to take a 5 wicket haul in Test cricket and also the youngest to take a Test hat-trick, but everyone knows that he is not the real holder of these records because he is 3-4 years older than his official age.

If ICC cannot regulate age-fudging, then at least they should do something about these age-fudgers cheating their way to records.

Just saw there is an Afghani player on BB who is supposedly 15 years with already 1-2 years of cricket.
This means he started around 14!
Let's see what he looks like when we see him.

Pakistan should also really do something about it.

15 years old.

I believe Ahmed Noor was 14 years old ,the youngest player in IPL last year.PCB should find out the secret formula for producing top class cricketers at such young age.Afghanistan cricket team is made up of cricketers below the age of 20.

Isn’t this the 25 year old who disgustingly mankaded Huraira?

Noor Ahmad 15 years old.

How do these guys pass the age criteria and get away with this.

I think we should just automatically add 5 years to the age of Afghan players to get an accurate number.

But honestly, this has to be addressed because it is a problem for U-19 cricket. Simply not fair to the teams that are actually sending U-19 players. Meanwhile Afghanistan is essentially sending their A team. The Pakistan side last year also had a number of players that looked well over 19 but no team does it as blatantly as Afghanistan.

Pakistan has throughout it's u.19 history cheated with ages. Even today national have players in national team who are clearly cheaters. Naseem Shah was 16 lol. Aamir was another cheater. Pretty much everyone cut's 2-3 years. It's the norm. Stated multiple players during urdu interviews.

Afghanistan takes it to the next stage.

ICC need to address this

Among Indian cricketers, the biggest age fudgers of recent times have been Yuvraj and Dhoni. Both understated their age by 4-5 years.

Akash Deep is also an age fudger. He's probably 2-3 years older, maybe more.

What about Shami? Hard to believe he is 34. Most likely 37-38.

Disappointing to hear that about Akashdeep. Thought he had a few years as Test bowler . Maybe not.

ICC should crack down on age fudging. It becomes a bit farcical when over 19 years old guys play in U-19 World Cups.
