I guess they got some picks at the end to make up for it but I was extremely unimpressed with the draft. Not enough bowlers as usual and you have two U-19 bowlers, Jamal leaks tons of runs. Khurram is OK but T20 isn't his bread & butter.

I also couldn't believe they were sitting with a huge purse and simply didn't even bother bidding on Sameer Minhas. What in the world are you doing. How is that not a player you bid on? At least it would have added some excitement to this team but it's not really much different than Peshawar teams of the past minus Saim.

Am shocked Haris is still there in Peshawar Zalmi after those public comments against Babar. Not just that but Peshawar dropped moved him down the order repeatedly last season. And they have picked kusal mendis so he might even find himself on the bench.

I guess Saim has left so Haris could open. But just weird. And I would have thought quite a lot of teams would have taken Haris gladly. There aren’t many young Pakistani batsmen with international experience who hit big. And a wicketkeeper on top.

Batting looks horrible... They ignored many good batters in auction..

Why have they picked two under 19s players in the squad.Thier bowling line up will go for 170+ on a regular basis.

I was wondering what would happen to him. He’s had a few decent season in domestic cricket in the last couple of years.

He’s a good bowler on his day, just needs to fix his attitude & work on his abilities.

Peshawar need all the fast bowling they can get. Still, decent numbers in his PSL career so seems like a good add.

He has modified his bowling action from what I saw in his domestic matches this season so it will be fascinating to see if he can level up in T20's.

Peshawar Zalmi Secures the Return of English Pace Sensation Tymal Mills.

Peshawar Zalmi is thrilled to announce the direct signing of English left-arm fast bowler Tymal Mills for HBL PSL 11, marking the return of one of the most lethal T20 bowlers in the world to the Yellow Storm.

Mills, who previously represented Zalmi in HBL PSL 3, brings a wealth of experience and unmatched pace to the squad. In his T20 career, he has played 264 matches, claimed 325 wickets and maintained an exceptional economy of 8.36, showcasing his ability to consistently deliver under pressure. His deadly left-arm pace and variations make him a game-changer in the shortest format of the game.

Javed Afridi, Owner of Peshawar Zalmi, shared his excitement on the signing:

"We are delighted to welcome Tymal Mills back to the Zalmi family. His pace, precision and experience make him a perfect fit for our squad. He is not only a proven match-winner but also a player who can inspire our team and fans alike. The Yellow Storm is ready to roar even louder with his return."

With Mills on board, Peshawar Zalmi aims to bolster its bowling attack and make a strong statement in HBL PSL 11, bringing fans more thrilling performances and memorable moments on the field.

Genuinely one of the worst teams on Paper. Will be heavily dependant on Vince to give them quick starts considering Haris is utter garbage

1. James Vince
2. Kusal Mendis
3. Babar Azam (c)
4. Mohammad Haris (wk)
5. Aaron Hardie
6. Iftikhar Ahmed
7. Michael Bracewell
8. Aamer Jamal
9. Khurram Shahzad
10. Ali Raza
11. Sufiyan Muqeem

Imran Khan Stadium will finally host a game in PSL , only 1 it is but nevertheless a beginning, if only there was a Tifo culture in cricket , the scenes will be iconic

Imagine an Imran Khan Tifo in Peshawar

Somehow all good batting talent ends up in PZ under Bobzy. But the King doesn't know how to use them
So much hate for zalmi but they are the team giving chance to all young talent.
Saim
Maaz
Haris
Ali raza
Abdul samad
Farhan

All have been with zalmi. Even if farhan doesn't play(but i think he should play) it ll be great for him to atleast be picked and ahare dressing room with intl players

To the people saying they retained babar and didnt retain maaz. I am sure franchises know that ultimate goal is to earn money and babar does that for them even now more than anyone.

That's the problem. They are good at finding and signing young talent. Whoever in the coaching staff is doing that is doing a good job. But they don't know how to develop them.

There's a reason why Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat left PZ.

I'm sorry but Babar shouldn't play or in the best XI.

1. Mirza Tahir Baig
2. James Vince (O)
3. Mohammad Haris (WK)(C)
4. Kusal Mendis (O)
5. Farhan Yousuf
6. Aaron Hardie (O)
7. Michael Bracewell (O)
8. Aamer Jamal
9. Khurram Shahzad
10. Sufiyaan Muqeem
11. Ali Raza

Decent balance of players. Time to give M.Haris responsibility not just as a captain but also top of the order. I would rotate Hardie with Nahid Rana.

I'm not Samad's biggest fan, but rotating him with Baig with Kusal moving to open could work.

The reason is that they couldnt retain saim and babar both

Tbh saim at 12 cr is overpriced.

Haris and Fakhar came back to Lahore. If Zalmi wanted. They could've convinced them to go to Auction and they would buy him.

Truth is there were rumors last year as well that Saim wanted out.

No one was paying 12 cr to saim.
If saim thinks peshawar was the problem then their is smth wrong with his head too because he hasnt set t20 world on fire given the chances. He has played hundred plus t20s and still isnt a household name in t20s and is more of a utility player like hafeez at thim moment instead of batting prodigy.

*Peshawar Zalmi Signs Left-Arm Paceman Muhammad Basit for HBLPSL 11.*

Peshawar Zalmi is delighted to announce the signing of promising left-arm pacer Muhammad Basit for the upcoming HBLPSL 11 season. Known for his pace, control, and knack for picking crucial wickets, Basit is set to add depth and variety to Zalmi’s bowling attack.
Having made a mark in domestic cricket, Muhammad Basit has consistently impressed with his ability to bowl under pressure and deliver breakthroughs when it matters the most. His left-arm pace brings a new dimension to the Yellow Storm squad, complementing the existing bowling lineup.

Commenting on the signing, Mr. Javed Afridi, Chairman of Peshawar Zalmi, said:

"Muhammad Basit is an exciting talent with immense potential. His left-arm pace will give our bowling attack a new edge in HBLPSL 11. We are confident he will rise to the occasion and play a key role in our quest for the trophy."

Muhammad Basit joins a talented squad ready to take the field with energy and aggression. His signing reflects Peshawar Zalmi’s continued commitment to nurturing domestic talent and building a competitive team for the #NewEra of PSL.

They picked Tanzid Hassan and now Bennet

So who’s going to open for them? Both Hassan and Bennet are better T20 openers than Babar

Looks like they will struggle to qualify for play offs.... In recent times they have regressed in quality would be a suprise if they got close to winning this year only Babar fans retain the faith.

Iftikhar Ahmed shared following thoughts in a presser today:

On PSL Preparations and Playing Without a Crowd
* "The preparations for PSL are going very well; all the players are our local players."
* "As a player, I cannot enjoy the game without the crowd, but we have to adapt and enjoy it regardless."

On Personal Performance and National Team Comeback
* "When you play as a professional, your thoughts are always about Pakistan; I always aim to perform everywhere."
* "I want to replicate my domestic performance for my franchise. My goal is to be the best batsman or all-rounder so that I can make a comeback for the Pakistan team."
* "I believe that performance does not hide; it shows the world that I am worthy of being on the team. My focus is to perform, come into the limelight, and win the World Cup for Pakistan."

On Peshawar Zalmi and Franchise Mindsets
* "I have played for about five teams in the PSL. Every team has its own specialty and every franchise is professional, with its own specific mindset."
* "I have always been with the Peshawar Zalmi team and their management. I enjoy playing under the guidance of Misbah-ul-Haq and Akram Raza; I hope for a good performance."

On Peshawar Fans and Government Policy
* "Peshawar residents are huge cricket lovers. Our national T20I matches there were a huge success with a packed stadium. Regarding the venue changes, it is the government's policy and I believe their decision is a good one."

On Modern T20 Batting Strategy

* "In T20, your role is to read the situation and play accordingly. Most teams are successful when they play with a clear mindset rather than just attempting to hit every ball."
* "In 120 balls, if you hit 10 to 12 boundaries and supplement them with singles and doubles, the total reaches 200. This is 'branded' cricket, played the way the rest of the world plays it."

On Improving Technique and Fitness

* "While out of the team, I have worked on my technique. I hired a coach, Zeb Khan, and a trainer in Peshawar to work on my fitness. I am hopeful for a comeback after performing in the PSL."
Would you like me to use these quotes to draft a news report or a script for a sports bulletin?

Didn’t know PZ picked Tanzid Hasan. Tanzid is actually good pick. He has more than eleven t20i 50s, three hundreds in BPL and twenty half centuries. Surprised how other leagues like cpl, lankan league havent taken him. Am sure he will show his worth in psl.

100%

Tanzid Hassan is currently a better T20 opener than Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat. Babar is not even in question.

They better have a plan because it will be b.s if one has to sit on the bench or the other bats at 3 or 4 so Babar can open

They might not even play him LOL....

Looking at it Iftikhar would have been a better option for Pakistan than Babar at number 4 as he's capable of hitting sixes against the spinners.

Should be opening but then Babar and Bennett?
Bennett is capable of batting at a high strike-rate unlike Babar and he can play the role of the anchor more effectively than Babar too.

I think they should move Babar to 3 and open with Haris and Bennett.

IMO

Babar shouldn’t be captain..PZ should open with Bennet and Tanzid

Harris at 3

Hardie at 4

Even if Babar gets 10 ducks in a row he will still be their captain. We have to accept it. So if you're going to play him, might as well have him at 3 so Haris can atleast maximize the powerplay. I'm not really convinced about Tanzid - he has about the same T20I career strike-rate as Babar and seems to struggle with familiar issues of strike-rotation. He can produce high strike-rate knocks but he is not a reliable option at the top. Hardie at 4 is a good option. He is familiar with that role because he bats at 4 for Perth Scorchers too. Hardie is a good player to have in the line-up because he is a flexible player you can move around depending on the situation, and who can tonk the ball at the end of the innings too.
