I guess they got some picks at the end to make up for it but I was extremely unimpressed with the draft. Not enough bowlers as usual and you have two U-19 bowlers, Jamal leaks tons of runs. Khurram is OK but T20 isn't his bread & butter.

I also couldn't believe they were sitting with a huge purse and simply didn't even bother bidding on Sameer Minhas. What in the world are you doing. How is that not a player you bid on? At least it would have added some excitement to this team but it's not really much different than Peshawar teams of the past minus Saim.
 
Am shocked Haris is still there in Peshawar Zalmi after those public comments against Babar. Not just that but Peshawar dropped moved him down the order repeatedly last season. And they have picked kusal mendis so he might even find himself on the bench.

I guess Saim has left so Haris could open. But just weird. And I would have thought quite a lot of teams would have taken Haris gladly. There aren’t many young Pakistani batsmen with international experience who hit big. And a wicketkeeper on top.
 
Batting looks horrible... They ignored many good batters in auction..
 
Why have they picked two under 19s players in the squad.Thier bowling line up will go for 170+ on a regular basis.
 
I was wondering what would happen to him. He’s had a few decent season in domestic cricket in the last couple of years.

He’s a good bowler on his day, just needs to fix his attitude & work on his abilities.
 
Peshawar need all the fast bowling they can get. Still, decent numbers in his PSL career so seems like a good add.

He has modified his bowling action from what I saw in his domestic matches this season so it will be fascinating to see if he can level up in T20's.

Genuinely one of the worst teams on Paper. Will be heavily dependant on Vince to give them quick starts considering Haris is utter garbage

So much hate for zalmi but they are the team giving chance to all young talent.

All have been with zalmi. Even if farhan doesn't play(but i think he should play) it ll be great for him to atleast be picked and ahare dressing room with intl players

To the people saying they retained babar and didnt retain maaz. I am sure franchises know that ultimate goal is to earn money and babar does that for them even now more than anyone.

That's the problem. They are good at finding and signing young talent. Whoever in the coaching staff is doing that is doing a good job. But they don't know how to develop them.

There's a reason why Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat left PZ.

The reason is that they couldnt retain saim and babar both

Tbh saim at 12 cr is overpriced.

Haris and Fakhar came back to Lahore. If Zalmi wanted. They could've convinced them to go to Auction and they would buy him.

Truth is there were rumors last year as well that Saim wanted out.

No one was paying 12 cr to saim.
If saim thinks peshawar was the problem then their is smth wrong with his head too because he hasnt set t20 world on fire given the chances. He has played hundred plus t20s and still isnt a household name in t20s and is more of a utility player like hafeez at thim moment instead of batting prodigy.

They picked Tanzid Hassan and now Bennet

So who’s going to open for them? Both Hassan and Bennet are better T20 openers than Babar
 
Looks like they will struggle to qualify for play offs.... In recent times they have regressed in quality would be a suprise if they got close to winning this year only Babar fans retain the faith.

Didn’t know PZ picked Tanzid Hasan. Tanzid is actually good pick. He has more than eleven t20i 50s, three hundreds in BPL and twenty half centuries. Surprised how other leagues like cpl, lankan league havent taken him. Am sure he will show his worth in psl.

Tanzid Hassan is currently a better T20 opener than Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat. Babar is not even in question.

They better have a plan because it will be b.s if one has to sit on the bench or the other bats at 3 or 4 so Babar can open

Looking at it Iftikhar would have been a better option for Pakistan than Babar at number 4 as he's capable of hitting sixes against the spinners.
 
Brian Bennett is a good signing. Should open the batting for Zalmi, no question.

Bennett is capable of batting at a high strike-rate unlike Babar and he can play the role of the anchor more effectively than Babar too.

I think they should move Babar to 3 and open with Haris and Bennett.

Babar shouldn’t be captain..PZ should open with Bennet and Tanzid

Harris at 3

Hardie at 4

Even if Babar gets 10 ducks in a row he will still be their captain. We have to accept it. So if you're going to play him, might as well have him at 3 so Haris can atleast maximize the powerplay. I'm not really convinced about Tanzid - he has about the same T20I career strike-rate as Babar and seems to struggle with familiar issues of strike-rotation. He can produce high strike-rate knocks but he is not a reliable option at the top. Hardie at 4 is a good option. He is familiar with that role because he bats at 4 for Perth Scorchers too. Hardie is a good player to have in the line-up because he is a flexible player you can move around depending on the situation, and who can tonk the ball at the end of the innings too.
 
Babar needs to get his act together , he needs to perform and pick the right playing 11.

Tanzid and mo haris should open..... kusal at 3, hardie at 4, ifti at 5, samad at 6, bracewell at 7, jamal at 8, khuraam at 9, dahani at 10, ali raza at 11...... babar should warm bench

Misbah getting one of his loyalists in, shock horror. Babar was mentored by Misbah, who ingrained the dosti yaari mindset in him.

Misbah should look to bring daytrader next. That Canadian has done nothing but been an exceptional cheerleader.

Only logical case could be to bring in vince in place of babar or haris.
Even though haris is giving them 20 runs in powerplay and is due one big inning.

Vince can also bowl a few overs with iftikhar though so all in all much higher return than haris
 
Logically for once peshawar has looked like a team good enough in recent years and i wouldnt touch it for next 2 matches atleast

Babar has performed well for Babar standards striking at 135 and averagng 70 this season. Besides the fact that he is captain, they can't drop him and they shouldn't drop him either. Haris has averaged 19 with the bat with only one knock of substance.

What do you mean Aaron Hardie is not there? He has played one game for them. He has experience batting at 4 for Perth Scorchers which is where you can slot him, and he can provide a few overs with the ball too because he's an all-rounder.

My bad i thought he left for ipl. But just checked he is listed in squad. Well if he is fit and available that solves alot of problems.

No need for amir jamal if you have bravewell, hardie and iftikhar. Or they can drop farhan if they dont trust him enough(he aint gonna get much oppurtunity to bat in this lineup atm too) and bring in abdul subhan or ali raza(though they dont really need another bowler)
Or if nahid also leaves then they can bring ali or abdul subhan and bring in bennet or tanzid.
PZ have picked many top order batsman though not many options except ifti and Abdul Samad down the order.

Irl they shouldnt be needing batting beyond 5/6 because babar should practically hold one end together and we ll see Abdul Samad sent up the order whenever wicket falls after 15th over

No need for aamer jamal.

Good knock but he's a very volatile player. I think they might like Vince's high reliability and good strike-rate combo more but let's see how they accommodate him.

I think they're just not playing him. He had a poor outing in the first game and Bracewell and the Bangla boys have done well. Probably will be playing going forward.

Zalmi has too many 130 sr batsman
Vince bennet babar all are same type of batsman with Vince and bennet having ability to accelerate a bit

Aaron fits in the team well if the drop jamal and play pak pacer instead of shoriful

Yeah true. Although I would put Vince and Bennett in a slightly higher SR category. They are essentially better versions of Babar as they can accelerate like you said. Vince had a pretty good strike-rate last season - don't remember what it was,

Yeah he can bat in the middle-order or down the order. Jamal has been poor all season. And you have Khurram Shahzad on the bench who should be a first choice pick.
