Some fun stuff from Shehzad at the ground yesterday.

Good to see players enjoying themselves!

But good humor from him and good to see a funny side to the players

MenInG he needs to consult a Psychiatrist, he has serious decipline and behaviour problems , untill he gets his mind right he should be nowhere near the team

O come on Blue_eyes
Give it a break man . He is not a spiritual leader . He is an international cricketer . He may have minor discipline problems plus he has got attitude , thinks of himself as the best pakistan has produced and he is arrogant . But it is not as huge an issue as you are pointing out . Ahmed Shehzad is a boy who was piling up runs after runs in domestic cricket since he was aged 15 . He was never a parchee . He was highly rated since under 17 under 19 days because of his performance .
If harsh criteria u want is applied then eorld would not have seen players like Andrew symonds Andrew flintoff Shane warne shoaib akhtar shahid afridi virat kohli etc etc play int cricket . Neither our top bowlers and batsman of past and present very saints .
He is not a humble boy we all know that . He has his own personality .
We Pakistanis just want Ahmed to play like he used to play for pakistan A and Pakistan in 2010-2011 . Aggressive sensible cricket with controlled aggression and strike rotation . The biggest issues we have had with him have been his blocks and dot balls rather then getting singles on 50 to 75 % of those dot balls . That's it . He played well yesterday but we have to remember it's ZIM team , he needs to translate same skill set and performance against top 5 Teams in Odi , t20 and test cricket too .
He has got talent , ability and potential to survive in International cricket .
We have no problem with his selfies , styles , social media usage , personal life etc . We just want him to perform with good average and good strike rate . That's it .
Haath Hola rakhein baradaram :-)

The crowd would shout 'Selfie Selfie' whenever he came to the boundary and he obliged :D

Good to see him take it so well and have a great sense of humor

Have to say:

Aik dafa jab Pakistan mai match dekhnay ka maza lag jaye it will be hard to go back to watching them play in UAE. Atleast the LOI matches

Let's not been harsh on him today. He played well, had fun, enjoyed the connection with fans. Great scenes.

I was there at the Stadium when this happened. That was Great Fun.I was sitting at Ramiz Raja Enclosure & Ahmad shehzad was Standing infront. The crowd kept Chanting
"Selfie Selfie" For 3,4 Minutes & Then Ahmed Replied with that pose.
That was Good sense of humor by him.

Hahahaha...hilarious. Very cool of him to do that. Lol @ the twitter handle as well - No19 Is The Best - Ahmadbiggestfan, thank God no Ahmadkideewani.

Makes one realize how much the crowd back home would've missed their players in action all thee years.

I think there's only one person with mental problems in this thread tbh.

Lol.

Full credit to Shehzad here. Played a good non-selfish supportive innings, and had good connection with the fans.

But good humor from him and good to see a funny side to the players

:)) He did that pose after the crowd kept shouting selfie! selfie! at him I believe, such interaction between players and fans is great to see

Great of him. And now you should see his power on social media. He has got '#fansinheart trending within 10 mins!

Slowly becoming a superstarrrrrr...............................

Surprised to see u not boiling over it ::mv:sanga:rahi

He took it in good spirits instead of getting annoyed by it, which was good to see.

Taking selfies is not the problem and nor is it a big deal; its his general behaviour in Twitter where he undermined Azhar after he became captain and favorited tweets that called PCB a joke and Wasim and Rameez stupid etc., as well as those comparison tables with former great players after X number of matches.

Superstars are made on the pitch.. Not by hashtags.

Astounding levels of delusion.

I cringe at his narcissism too and truly believe that he suffers from delusional grandiosity.

However, just speaking of skills, you seriously underrate him. in fact u shrugged him off as useless right from the start.
Even when he didn't play that many matches, u called him :farhat, when clearly he is a much superior batsman to that TTF legend.

At the same time what I don't understand is your support for :shafiq and :amin, when on one hand u condemn shehzad for not being a modern LOI batsman.
Does shafiq appear to be a better stroke maker to u than :ahmed?

Shehzad is the not the worst batsman to play for Pakistan, of course he has some capabilities and you cannot play international cricket without being good, but after 2 years of having a free run in ODIs, his output was nowhere good enough especially when you consider his SR.

A SR of 73 in this era of short boundaries, flat pitches and big bats is criminal, and if you compare the major teams except West Indies who have been borderline minnows in ODIs for a while, only Cook had done worse than Shehzad and he was dropped by England as captain, but he was hailed for his performance as if he was on his way to becoming world class.

Shafiq is a good batsman and he has all the shots, but he needs to stop going into his shell all the time. Whenever he tries to play freely, he looks good. If you look at his early ODI performances in 2010-2011, he was a better ODI than he is now even though he is a much improved batsman overall now. However, after the emergence of Haris who I think is a better batsman potential wise and now with Azhar back in the ODI team as well, I don't think Shafiq deserves to play ODI cricket at the moment unless he changes his approach, because I do believe he has what it takes to succeed in this format because I consider him to be a better batsman than Shehzad.

Amin's case is a bit complicated, he is a touch player with a great gift for timing and call play shots on both sides of the wicket with a straight bat without taking the aerial route, but he is way too laid back. He seems to coast on his talent and has not shown the fire in his belly to succeed and fight for his runs. Like Asad, if he can improve his attitude he can deliver in Tests and ODIs, but neither of them should be in the T20 team because they don't have the power game.

If Shehzad can improve his attitude and acknowledge his shortcomings, he too can improve as a player but the problem is that he is a narcissist and when you think of yourself as twice the player that you are, there is not much room for growth.

On the contrary, Umar Akmal has some attitude issues as well but he does not come across as a narcissist and you can feel that he knows that he has to do better.

Good on Shehzad to stop and pose for a selfie. There were a few cricketers who didn't even bother waving to the crowd.

Not according to his latest interview with PP...

He has blamed everyone else except his own shortcomings and took digs at our own management.

I respect your opinion but you criticize Shehzad but at the same time - are willing to defend Hafeez and Malik who time and time again have failed to reproduce the form needed in LOI (more so in Malik than Hafeez but both are culprits in this regard)

I thought that too, but the recent interview by Saj bhai gives the impression that he's not too dissimilar

I'm sorry but what? Read the latest interview from him, that line has been proven totally false. And I was one of the ones who was saying Akmal is not as bad as Shehzad, but Akmal's attitude totally stinks, and the way he threw away his wicket was just absolutely inexcusable yesterday.

Like? Just curious.

One thing people kept saying was that there weren't really special cheers for Umar Akmal, even though Lahore is his home. I really think he's not as popular as people say he is.

ya you can tell he is a bit obsessed with himself.

His serious lack of charisma is the reason

^Nice to see the team happy. They are clearly enjoying this rare opportunity of playing at home. Good on them.

Good sense of humour from Selfie.

Great to see them all smiling and enjoying themselves.

i hope he matures and does some hard work on his cricket... when he came in, i thought he was one of the best openers for pak since Saeed Anwar left.. guy had courage and class and mental strength. but his ego got the better of him.... he is still young so Ahmad Shahzad v2.0 with commitment and hardwork could be interesting .... wishes wishes wishes

Really what was so special about him in 2009 when he made his debut, apart from tuk tuk at 65 SR?

its not always abt the strike rate, esp at that time when 275 was Par score....

His innings in NZ ( i think it was his debut series) and the way he handeled pace and bounce was delightful. and thts what you need in a youngster. he could have built very strongly on that ,.... just didnt have tht commitment ....

he already thought he was the best, and refused to improve or work on his batting deficiencies.

confidence is one thing. this boy was over confident from the start.
