Adil Amin, would like to see his century. Looks like a great knock, would like to see if he can keep it up during the season.

The best part of the 1st vs 2nd XI regional system is the inventive to work hard to achieve your place in the first tier. We have now begun seeing youngsters making their way through, also in due credit to good selection by some of the coaches. It’s great to see.

On Sunday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will play Sindh in the first match, while Central Punjab will take on Southern Punjab in the second match of the day.

Some teams in the second eleven are more interesting to watch because of the potential youngsters they have.

The advantage of the Faysal Bank format was that you used to get to see these players as well.

Can you name a few to keep an eye on

@Titan24 any background on him ?

Was a regular member of Pak U19 till the end of 2019 but got injured before the world cup. He would have been a natural selection if he was fit. Was part of the U19 squad which won 0-7 vs SA in SA and he bowled pretty well alongside Naseem. Decent action (Finish can be improved further) and gets natural inswing going. Pace wasnt as much as Naseem but was in 130s kph (When he was 17 odd) as per my estimation when I saw him ball a year and few months ago. Got selected for the Baluchistan domestic squad.

Below is the video from June 2019 when he played vs Srl U19 and got 4/19. Got good accuracy and movement back then and I am pretty sure by now he would have increased his speed more as well.

Salman Ali has good stats, anyone know anything

Agha Salman Ali is an all rounder from Lahore who played for Lahore Qalandars as well and played an impressive knock of 50 to come in limelight. Right handed batsman and off spinner. He wasnt retained by LQ though for 2020 season. He also got selected in Global T20 league inaugural edition for Edmonton Royals and scored 218 runs for them in 6 matches.

A decent player who could have been useful for SP main squad considering their struggles as of now.

Any good?

Any good?

A good utility cricketer. A talented player but, was nothing extraordinary in either batting or bowling based upon what I saw couple of years ago. Has good temperament and technically decent and can be decent 5-6th bowling option for his team.

To make it big in LOIs he will have to take his power game to the next level as Pakistan at the moment has much better options for top 4-5 positions or so in LOIs and even some upcoming batsmen are technically and stroke play wise better suited to those numbers I think. So unless he takes his overall game to the next level the best chance he has to make it big it has to be for that no 6-7 batting position in my opinion and for that he needs to show some really good power game or good enough bowling to be a reliable 5th option.

Hopefully he has worked on those things by now.

.Southern Punjab outplayed Sindh by eight wickets to keep their Second XI National T20 Cup title hopes alive on the sixth day of the single-league competition at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.

In the afternoon match, Southern Punjab dismissed Sindh for 109 in 19.5 overs and then raced to victory for the loss of two wickets in 16.1 overs to record their third win in four matches. The comprehensive victory also helped Southern Punjab to improve their net run-rate (0.416), which can potentially decide the title-winner on the final day of the tournament on Thursday.

For Sindh, it was all but over as they have ended with three wins in five matches with a poor net run-rate of -0.140.

Central Punjab is the other side, which remains in the hunt for the title. Like Southern Punjab, Central Punjab has three wins in four matches with a net run-rate of 0.849. On Wednesday, Southern Punjab will play Balochistan, while in the only match on Thursday, Central Punjab will take on Northern.

If both the Punjab sides win their final league matches, they will end up with four wins in five matches with the net run-rate to decide the champion. Defending champions Northern are winless after three matches.

Sindh needed to, at least, win their final league match to remain in contention for the title but they faltered badly to be bowled out for 109 in 19.5 overs. Southern Punjab’s Zia-ul-Haq turned the tables on Sindh when he returned figures of 3.5-0-18-4, and received good support from Mohammad Irfan (two for 19) and Dilbar Hussain (two for 24).

For Sindh, Jahid Ali was the top scorer with 30, while captain Fawad Alam contributed 21.

In turn, Southern Punjab reached 110 for the loss of two wickets with Zain Abbas (55 not out, 47 balls, one six, eight fours) and Mukhtar Ahmed (44, 41 balls, one six, six fours) leading the way with a 99-run second wicket partnership.

Earlier in the morning fixture, Balochistan, put into bat, collected 152 for five in their allocated 20 overs. Opener Abdul Wahid Bangalzai carried the innings, scoring 90 off 55 balls with four sixes and 11 fours. Together with Ayaz Tasawar (27), Abdul Wahid added 68 runs for the fourth wicket after Balochistan had slipped to 23 for three.

In their target chase, Northern lost their way from 87 for two to finish at 133 for six in 20 overs despite a half-century by Nihal Mansoor (51, 48 balls, two sixes, four fours) and Shoaib Ahmed (25).

Scores in brief:

Balochistan beat Northern by 19 runs

Balochistan 152-5, 20 overs (Abdul Wahid Bangalzai 90, Ayaz Tasawar 27; Aamer Jamal 2-17, Salman Irshad 2-27)

Northern 133-6, 20 overs (Nihal Mansoor 51, Shoaib Ahmed 25; Jalat Khan 2-17, Taj Wali 2-21)

Southern Punjab beat Sindh by eight wickets

Sindh 109 all out, 19.5 overs (Jahid Ali 30, Fawad Ali 21; Zia-ul-Haq 4-18, Mohammad Irfan 2-19, Dilbar Hussain 2-24)

Southern Punjab 110-2, 16.1 overs (Zain Abbas 55 not out, Mukhtar Ahmed 44)

Lahore, 7 October 2020: A win over Northern, the defending champions, will secure Central Punjab the title of the Second XI National T20 Cup when the two teams meet on Thursday morning at the Gaddafi Stadium.

In case, Nauman Anwar-led Central Punjab, face a defeat by Northern, who are yet to open their account, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will win the title on the basis of net run-rate as the two sides are locked on six points each.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa find themselves in the title run following a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Northern, who succumbed to their fourth defeat in a row on Wednesday.

Northern’s Taimoor Sultan’s 46-ball 72 went in vain after Rehan Afridi, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captain, decided to field first. The opener smashed six fours and five sixes and struck a 60-run partnership for the second wicket with Naved Malik, who made 29 off 21.

Sameen Gul and Mohammad Imran, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bowlers, returned three for 15 and two for 28, before an undefeated 117-run partnership between Mohammad Mohsin Khan and Mohammad Arif overhauled a 150-run target in 17.2 overs with eight wickets spare. Mohsin made 63 not out off 51 (nine fours and a six) and Arif was undefeated on 65 from 39 balls, which included six sixes and three fours.

Southern Punjab, who also have six points, squandered their position of advantage when they failed to surmount a 125-run target in the second match of the day and lost to Balochistan by six runs. A disciplined bowling display brought Balochistan’s bowlers Gohar Faiz and Akhtar Shah two wickets each for 32 and 24 runs, respectively, while Jalat Khan bowled exceptionally well to record 4-0-12-1.

Their teammate Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, the 17-year-old batsman who has been called-up in the First XI team for the second round of the National T20 Cup in Rawalpindi, registered the highest score of the match with a run-a-ball 35. Ayaz Tasawar (21 off 17), Azeem Ghumman (20 off 15), the Balochistan captain, and Najeebullah Achakzai (20 not out of 19) were the other batsmen to make notable contributions.

Southern Punjab’s Mohammad Imran, who was also called up for his Cricket Association’s First XI team, took three wickets for 26 runs. Salman Ali Agha returned two for 20.

Scores in brief:

Batting standards were dire in this tournament. I don't know if they were playing on reused pitches but a score of 170+ was posted only twice.

I don't think there's an argument for more than six FC teams.

Abdul Wahid Bangalzai and Zain Abbas look to have impressed on the batting front, while Kamran Afzal, Sameen Gul, Akhtar Shah and Mohammed Irfan jailer all had good tournaments.

Lahore, 8 October 2020:

Central Punjab bagged the Second XI National T20 Cup title with a seven-wicket win over Northern in the last match of the single-league event at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday. The Nauman Anwar-led side topped the six-team points table with four wins from their five matches, while win-less Northern finished on the last spot.

An unbeaten 57-ball 66 by Junaid Ali set the comfortable victory as Central Punjab overhauled the 134-run target with 11 balls to spare. The wicketkeeper-batsman took the lead role in the innings after Nauman, who made a quickfire 26 from 13 balls hitting four fours and a six, was dismissed by Athar Mehmood, who took two wickets for 36 runs.

Northern, who failed to win a single match, managed a meagre 133 for eight after their captain Nauman Ali elected to bat. Aamer Jamal’s 24-ball 38 not out, which included four sixes, provided some respite to the defending champions, who had half of their batting line-up back in the pavilion for just 37 runs. Sarmad Bhatti was the other notable run-getter in the innings as he hit a six and two fours for his 33 off 28 balls.

Reflecting on Central Punjab’s run in the event, Nauman Anwar said: “It has been an exciting journey and we got to play some quality cricket despite the Covid-19 protocols in place. We have really enjoyed our time over the last two, three weeks. That each and every player of our team raised his hand when the situation demanded and delivered is the reason behind our success in this event.

“The most memorable match for us was our opening match, which was against Sindh [which Central Punjab won by four wickets]. The Central Punjab-Sindh rivalry always brings out the best amongst from all the players involved in such contests and what made it further exciting was the fact that it went deep into the last over.”

During the tournament, as many as four bowlers picked up eight wickets each – the most in the event – and the two bowlers with the best average amongst them belong to Central Punjab. Kamran did it for 13.25 runs a wicket, while Waqas’ wickets were earned at 15.75.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Sameen Gul took eight wickets for 18.50. Northern’s Athar, the 21-year-old right-arm pacer, gave away 19.63 runs for his eight wickets.

Balochistan’s Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, Southern Punjab’s Zain Abbas and Central Punjab’s Mohammad Akhlaq finished as the top three run-getters with 235 at 47, 193 at 96.50 and 185 at 61.67 respectively. Based on their brilliant runs, all three earned call-ups for the second-leg of the First XI National T20 Cup which starts in Rawalpindi on Friday.

Twenty-year-old Akhlaq – who scored three half-centuries, the most in the competition – will travel to Rawalpindi to integrate with the First XI squad.

About his consistent run, Akram Raza, the head coach of Central Punjab Second XI team, said: “Akhlaq possess all the desired skills to thrive at the top level and he has been impressive throughout this competition. I have high hopes from him

“It is great to see players graduate from the Second XI teams to top. Akhlaq will be our second player to reach the First XI team after Abdullah Shafiq, who has earned admirers all over. I have been working extensively with most of these players since the last year and I can comfortably say that these players have a great potential and a lot of hunger to progress.”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Southern Punjab, locked at six points each, finish at number two and three positions. Sindh and Balochistan end their Second XI National T20 Cup on fourth and fifth position.

Scores in brief:

Northern 133-8, 20 overs (Aamer Jamal 38 not out, Sarmad Bhatti 33; Waqas Maqsood 3-23, Kamran Afzal 2-14, Mohammad Ali 2-30)

Central Punjab 134-3, 18.1 overs (Junaid Ali 66 not out, Nauman Anwar 26; Athar Mehmood 2-36)

Good stuff from CP's 2nd xi. Main team needs to get some inspiration from this performance.

Good to see a 18 year old top the batting charts in the tournament top 10 only 2 are under 25 which is worrying.whilst in the bowling 6 out of 10 are under 25 which is good to see.

Six teams are sufficient for now.May be another two teams could be added in future. However number of teams should not exceed eight. In the past there were too many teams which made it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.

6 teams are good enough most of the top performers in the second xI in the batting department are over 25 but the bowling is under 25

Athar Mahmood, playing for Northern with some very good performances (tied for most wickets in the tournament), was mentioned by Muhammad Zahid as “short but quick” and the fastest from the second XI teams. This was in response to a question about whether he has seen a potentially express bowler during his short stint so far.

He also said there are 2 U19 kids he has his eye on. One of their names is Ahsanullah, the other one he did not mention.

ahsanullah is not in any domestic u19 squad .Is he above 19?

Good to see Musadiq and Abdul Bangalzai promoted to the 1st xi. Just like Zeeshan Ashraf last year, the best need to be promoted.

Any vidoes of the above you mentioned ?

Markhor as per some sources Balochistan is getting him in the main squad as the replacement for the remaining National T20 Cup.
