Chairman PCB Shahryar Khan met with the players and team management today in Birmingham ahead of their opening match against India on June 4.

He stress the need of fighting sprit with complete unity. He emphasised on the players to play the game with composure, confidence and discipline .

He also stated that Pakistan-India match has a huge viewership and large number of people are anxious and fully involved in the game and the team has to come up to the expectations of Pakistan.

He added, we have a young and talented team under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed and if the boys play at the optimum level of their capacity and talent they would succeed in their aim in the Champions Trophy.

India Pakistan match is a great Competition and I expect from the players to demonstrate high level of sporting spirit.

Surprised Shehryar didn't trot out his daily "honour the MOU" line.

Hope this goodwill message etc is not overdone.

Extremely foolish and unnecessary from the Chairman, putting the team under more pressure than it already is. Do you see the BCCI chairman meeting the Indian team before a Pak India contest?

Do you see the ECB chairman or Cricket Australia chairman visiting the English or Australian team before the Ashes series?

Not required at all , players aren't kids this is putting more pressure on the poor boys

Same guy who said to Azhar Ali, 'you're not captaincy material'

I cannot imagine what Azhar must feel when he sees him, bhai captain kyun banaya phir?

3rd pic..last row extreme left...dunno who it is but looks to be falling asleep :)

You see this is exactly why Pakistan lose these pressure encounters , why add extra pressure . He should have just made a phone call to captain and coach , why come in person and out whole team under pressure. The aim is to keep them calm , relaxed, motivated but to enjoy the moments.

Not sure why the Chairman is needed for this... I agree with the above comments, all these rituals will just put more pressure on the team.

What is the point of a captain, coaches and manager if the chairman is required to boost the spirits of the team?

Looks like half of the guys are sleeping at the back.

Excellent move , will motivate the Pak players to win the game on 4th,if not this then what, great gesture

Wont motivate them at all, if anything this will add unnecessary pressure. You don't see the chairman of the BCCI meeting with the Indian team to remind them to play well. If everyone's talking about wanting to approach this game as if its any other game mentally, then actually do things that would make you feel that way.

Unnecessary visit - just creating extra pressure on the players.

Can you guys stop with the rude comments for once?

I dont adore Shery by any means, but if your board's chairman meets you prior to your tournament, it just shows he cares and by no means adds any pressure. If anything, ask the Windies guys what is the value of one-on-one meeting of chairman with players.

We have seen quite often that heads of state meet the team prior to important tournament, whats the big deal if your chairman got to interact one-on-one with the players. Augurs well for the relationship

Malik hafeez babar sarf imad need to step up and play accelerated innings and hopefully fahim can show us how talented he is

Does he love giving lectures to a group that doesn't want to listen to him?

yes, you are right ,we must learn respect to other and see what relation between player and big one, like chirman......

Guys: Can we talk a little respectfully about someone who is probably same age as our elders? I know its a tough ask for some but I will be deleting any silly jibes at his age etc.

Yes. Totally counter to the idea of a team being relaxed
