[PICTURES] Joe Root: ‘Winning the Ashes in Australia would mean more than anything’

You'd be better off advising those insecure Pakistani trolls.
This is for All including indian who cannot get out of the obsession with Sachin and Pakistan and bring them in every thread.

now talk about jow root and ashes... it will be better for all/

Very excited for this series.

To all indian posters especially those that despise me and want to ride my corpse down Mount Everest, hopefully you leave out any root, Smith or player hate and avoid mentioning india or anything to do with India.
Will be a great series. Will be closely contested I feel this time. Aus to win 3-1

Aah the Ashes! Can’t wait. I really want Mark Wood to be fit.

As much as I admire Woakes’ guts and ambition for trying to add to his case by batting with a dislocated shoulder, we can’t base selection on emotions

💯

Though I just can't see Woods playing more than 2 tests.

Root is enjoying Bazball.

Ave & SR before Baz: 51.29 | 57.49
Ave & SR after Baz: 58.00 | 66.89

He looks well prepared

Zero test wins in Aus and Zero test centuries in Aus. This is his last chance to address these major misses on his CV.

Zero Test wins in Australia is not his fault. Zero Test centuries in Australia however does look bad after playing 14 Test matches there.

He was captain for 10-11 of those matches so additional responsibility would lie on him. His on-field decisions must have contributed to the lack of wins.

Now though on his last tour he has to get at least one ton. Even most runs scored in tests record will not make up for lack of test tons in Aus. His legacy will be incomplete without that.

A gentle reminder:
Joe Root all set to lose his 15th test match in Australia without winning any.
Ben Stokes all set to lose his 11th test match in Australia without winning any.
Root set to lose his 4th consecutive series on Aussie shores.
Stokes set to lose his 3rd series on Aussie shores
😂😂

One question from English fan in a podcast.

"Root had one good innings in the entire series which was not played by Cummins? Why is he escaping from criticism"

Legitimate question. Conditions were relatively batting friendly.

That's a valid point/question. Both Cummins and Hazlewood have a strangle hold of Root when it comes to dismissals.

I don't think that Root has done well in this series. He should be surely criticised.

Last 2 points are not that huge because it has happened to many other teams in different periods.

But losing 15 tests wihtout winning any is not good for any team. It's not Root or Stokes issue, it's Eng issue. Batting needs to last 110-120 overs otherwise bowlers get no rest and gets carted all around.

I was quite surprised by Root's performance so far considering Oz bowling line-up either had injuries, key bowler missing etc.

There are 2 more meaningless test matches left after this one so he should be able to stat pad a bit I feel.

So many analysis is being done. General consensus is his favorite shot of tapping the ball to thirdman in England is a high risk shot in Australia due to extra bounce. That is his staple shot. When your staple shot becomes a risky shot you are going to be in trouble. Langer is comparing it with how they trapped Kohli last series. Kohli atleast when he had his reflexes intact managed to play those balls with control. But last 3 years in every condition he gets out like that. Nothign to do with Aussie conditions. So that is different. This is one of the safest high percentage shot for Root in England.
