Had a chat with Clive and he picked India and England as the teams to win the World Cup.
Regarding Windies he said "they have the players, but don't have the team".

Was thinking the same.Still cuts an impressive figure at his age!

Not quite! He played for Lancashire for many years, which is the closest County of Merseyside; but never thought guy is a Toffee fanI think he was at Lancashire between early 1970s to mid 1980s and that period of 80s, Everton was definitely 2nd best team in UK..... no shame in that, because the best Merseyside team was then the best team in world.
Not quite!
Merseyside is a modern construct like “Greater Manchester”.
In fact, in cricket terms Liverpool is just as Lancashire as Manchester, and Aigburth in Liverpool is Lancashire’s second home ground.
Lloyd has lived in Cheadle Hulme in Cheshire for nearly 50 years: Cheshire is a posh residential county popular with not just cricketers but also footballers from both Manchester and Liverpool.
Cheadle Hulme is just middle-class suburban: the footballers live at Mottram St Andrew or Prestbury.
Thanks, I did know few things, but not that much. However, by closest County, I meant one of 18 (then 17) Cricket Counties, I know Lancashire does play some games at Liverpool (In fact, Old Trafford is probably now in a different County - Greater Manchester).
Still, a Toffee fan ..... for such a great winner, when he could have supported the best club in history![]()
I’m not sure whether you mean Liverpool or United!
Bear in mind that Clive Lloyd settled in Cheshire in the early seventies.
Man United were in decline and about to be relegated. And Liverpool weren’t yet the kings of England, let alone Europe.
Leeds - only an hour down the road - were the biggest team in England, and Ajax and Bayern Munich were the only teams bigger than Leeds!
United, City, Everton and Liverpool were basically equals in that period up to 1976. With Leeds ahead of all of us.
Liverpool then became dominant from 1977-1989, and between 1978 and 1981 the next most successful team was actually Nottingham Forest!
