Stunning innings to bail us out today when we were looking certain to lose.

Would be considered on of the GOAT innings given the position the team were in the the carnage at the end. Just misses out given the opposition.

Regardless 127 off 82 balls is still an insane performance and an all time level.

Also took a stunning catch which he made look easy in the first innings.

New Zealand keep producing solid international cricketers.

So many of their players look natural in international colours, largely due to a robust and competitive domestic system.

Bracewell looks another good find for NZ.

2 for 26 and 42 not out today.

Impressive again.

Continues impressing!

A hat-trick for Michael Bracewell in the 2nd T20I

Bracewell can do no wrong on this tour. The off-spinner came into the attack in the 14th over and sent back Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy and Craig Young off successive deliveries to register a hat-trick. Bracewell became the third New Zealand men's player to register a T20I hat-trick after Jacob Oram and Tim Southee. Ireland were bowled out for 91 as New Zealand completed an 88-run win.

STAT: Fastest ODI 100s for New Zealand (balls faced)

36 Corey Anderson vs WI Queenstown 2014
46 Jesse Ryder vs WI Queenstown 2014
57 Michael Bracewell vs Ind Hyderabad 2023 *
67 Craig McMillan vs Aus Hamilton 2007

Only Shahid Afridi has scored a quicker hundred against India - off 45 balls in Kanpur in 2005

If Bracewell manage to take Newzealand home today, this will be counted as one of the greatest ever knocks in ODI cricket history.
He has already played a Superb knock in 2022.

What an innings from Bracewell! One for ages!

Bowls like Muralidharan against Pakistan.
Bats like peak Chris Gayle against India.
What a player.

STAT: Highest individual score batting #7 or below in ODIs

170* Luke Ronchi vs SL Dunedin 2015
146* Marcus Stoinis vs NZ Auckland 2017
140 Thisara Perera vs NZ Mt Maunganui 2019
140 Michael Bracewell vs Ind Hyderabad 2023

Interesting. He’s done this before. I confused him with Doug Bracewell and was wondering how he’s hitting so cleanly being a bowler.

OMG simply unbelievable. Rousing counter attack by this man after what 136/6

If him and Glenn both get going together I shudder to think of bowlers' plight.

Michael Bracewell's incredible ODI batting numbers got even better after another stunning knock in Hyderabad in the first ODI between India and New Zealand.

Walking in at No.7, Bracewell faced what-seemed an impossible task before him with his team needing 240 runs to win in just over 25 overs and with only five wickets remaining. Unflustered, the Kiwi all-rounder warmed up with two boundaries in an over off Mohammad Shami and never turned back from there.

He soon lost Tom Latham at the other end, but Bracewell was content being the one-man army in this Kiwis line-up, going hammer and tongs at the Indian bowlers with some incredible shots.

He brought up his second ODI ton off just 57 balls, the third-fastest hundred by a New Zealand batter in men's ODIs. Bracewell also equalled a rare record by MS Dhoni with the ton, equalling the former Indian captain's record of being the only batter to score more than one hundred from No.7 or lower in ODIs.

Bracewell put New Zealand within touching distance of a win alongside a spirited companion in Mitchell Santner. The duo recorded the third-highest seventh-wicket stand in men's ODIs - a spectacular 162-run stand - to keep New Zealand in the hunt.

When Santner and Henry Shipley were dismissed in the 46th over, the visitors still needed 56 runs off four overs. Bracewell brought that down to 20 runs needed off one over, and started the final over with a six, but couldn't quite finish it off.

His 140 off just 78 balls is the joint-third-highest score by a batter from No.7 or lower in ODIs. Only Luke Ronchi and Marcus Stoinis have made higher scores from No.7 or lower in men's ODIs.

Played one of the greatest ODI innings I've ever seen the other night, especially when you take into account the match situation and level of pressure was probably under. The match seemed done and dusted by the 30th over but rather than giving up or taking time to get settled at the crease, he took the game by the scruff of the neck.

His clarity of thought, timing and shot selection was just incredible.

If he was able to finish the match off I think the innings would have been in the conversation for the greatest ODI innings of all-time. But it wasn't to be. Still an unreal innings tho.

Thing is if he stood his ground instead of trying to get too clever he probably could have hit that ball for 4 or 6. He was in the zone.

Yes his creativity ended up being his downfall, which is ironic considering it had brought him success all night. At any rate, New Zealand have a heck of a talent on their hands. Might not end up having a very long career, but he definitely comes off as a significantly superior cricketer than Santner and someone they can rely on in all three formats.

Looks like M Bracewell is injured during the T20 blast and out for 6-8 months.

What disaster for NZ in a WC year, having already lost Kane Williamson.

BLACKCAPS all-rounder Michael Bracewell is set to be sidelined for six to eight months after rupturing his right achilles while batting for the Worcestershire Rapids in the English T20 Blast.

The reigning ANZ Men’s ODI Player of the Year will undergo surgery in the UK this Thursday before beginning a lengthy rehabilitation which will rule him out of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India this October-November.

BLACKCAPS coach Gary Stead said it was a big blow for Bracewell and the team.

“Firstly, you always feel for the player when injury strikes and especially when it means they will have to miss a world event,” Stead said.

“Michael’s a great team man and has had a fantastic 15 months for the BLACKCAPS since his international debut.

“We’ve seen his exceptional skills in all three facets of the game and he was shaping as an important player for us at the world cup in India.

“Michael’s naturally pretty disappointed, but also pragmatic in acknowledging that injuries are a part of sport and he’s now turning his focus to his rehabilitation.”

Bracewell, who has been away from New Zealand since April after being called up to the IPL, won’t be able to fly home for a couple of weeks following surgery.

The BLACKCAPS will hold simultaneous winter training camps at Lincoln and Tauranga from July 26–28 and August 9–11.

Question: Is it easy to dismiss Babar Azam and how do you feel on dismissing him on frequent occasions?

"Still it's not easy. He is a quality player and I think sometimes you just have a little bit of luck especially in T20. I don't necessarily read too much into that (Babar's 5 dismissals at hand of Bracewell) . He (Babar) obviously tries to put pressure on me as a bowler and I always try to defend and not going for too many runs. Sometimes it happens (Babar's dismissal) and you are very happy then. He is obviously a very senior batsman in the Pakistani side so whenever I get (the wicket of) a quality player it really makes me happy but I don't think we need to read too much into that (Babar's frequent dismissals at hand of Bracewell)": Michael Bracewell, in a pre match conference before the 4th T20I.

Babar is struggling against almost every spinner and this trend has been going on for almost 2 years now IG. I think babar is simply throwing his wickets away against Bracewell.

Bracewell joins the party for NZ with the wicket of Shadab Khan. How many more can he claim today?

Michael Bracewell claims the crucial wickets of Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha, finishing with 2/38 in the final of the Tri-Nation ODI series against Pakistan.

Tight and controlled bowling from Michael Bracewell—hopefully, he maintains this rhythm in the upcoming PSL as well.

Michael Bracewell 53*(40) – a brave and invaluable knock against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final.

Great performance as he ends his spell on 2/28 against India in the final of CT 2025

Not sure if he is a captaincy material. Even Santner relied a lot on Kane williamson on the field. NZ is always known for astute leadership. Martin Crowe, Stephen Fleming, Kane williamson. They don't have replacement yet.
