LAHORE: Pakistani cricket squad will begin its training camp from Thursday (today) for the upcoming three Twenty20 matches series with World XI at Gaddafi Stadium here.

Players from the national squad have reported at the camp to participate in the training session.

Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir is likely to miss early days of training camp as he is in England along with his wife; the couple is expecting their first child.

Meanwhile, spinner Shadab Khan is to miss the first day of the training session for his commitment in the Caribbean Premier League.

Earlier today, head coach Mickey Arthur visited Gaddafi Stadium to oversee the arrangements.

It merits to mention here that Pakistani cricket team will play three T20 matches against World XI, scheduled to begin on September 12.

The other two matches will be played on September 13 and 15 respectively.

South Africa’s Faf du Plessis will lead the World XI squad, which will arrive in Pakistan on September 11.

Last month, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi addressed a presser and said: “15 players from England, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe have agreed to play the World XI series in Pakistan, [however] India has declined to send its players to Pakistan.”

Who else was filled with a sudden surge of hatred seeing Shehzad there? How this gully level player keeps getting selected despite what he did in WI and CT is beyond me..

Lol I guess all the boys have been hitting the gym real hard during the off season !!

Imad of all people looks so fit man !! :O :O :O

Can't wait to see Usman bowling.I h0pe that he performs well and is selected for Test series in England.

Is he that good?

Genuine question, since I have not seen him bowl.
is he good enough to play at the top level?

He was decent in the last PSL.He impressed Mickey and has been subsequently selected for the T20.I expect that he has improved under Mickey's guidance.
Recently,Waqar tweeted that Babar and Usman are future stars 0f Pakistan.

Looks more of an LOI bowler to me.

Mickey clearly rates him, so looks like he will be given a good run in the squad.

Hassan looks strong(er).

Imad also seems to have worked on his fitness which is good to see as he was starting to look out of shape.

Hasan Ali has the perfect approach to the game. He can't add to his height, but he is crying to build what is in his scope - Marshall like shoulders & Waquar like fore arm. Really impressive guy - had he been just a bit better with bat, probably would have suggested to be Sarfraz's deputy for all 3 format.

Yeah, this guy keeps surprising me with his commitment. Usman also looks buff.

Absolutely.

Has the mindset of a champion.

He is maximizing his talent . Very hard worker , and is hungry to make a name for himself. He has determination to work hard and get to next level.

I think, the key reason that Hasan is covering so much ground in such short time is because he was drafted at the right age - around 23 (officially 21, which in Imran's time would have been 18/19). I am sure there are many players/fast bowlers in PAK who had the right attitude & commitment, but PAK players doesn't develop much from domestics - bringing a guy at biological 29 to bowl fast, develop stamina, endurance & build body doesn't happen. I am sure had Sohail been drafted in 2007, that guy would have been a world class bowling all-rounder now.

Imran's scouting is the only way to find fast bowlers in PAK - bring them before genuine 23; give couple of years under pro set up; the'll serve for best part of a decade.

No scorecard can give justice to this epic match :afridi

Those lucky enough to have witnessed it all agree it was the greatest match they have seen. The twists, the skills, the wickets, oof. Reverse swinging doosras, switch hit scoops, Babar pulling off a switch hit helicopter to a Hassan Ali inswing googly :yk

Fear of it over-shadowing the World XI matches. PCB have decided not to release any details of this epic clash of titans :najam

switch hit helicopter shot. how dare babar play ahmed shahzad's trademark shot

Aesthetically, none can match Amin in PAK, but somehow he couldn't raise the bar. May be, isn't hungry enough & he has alternatives.

Mian looks to have lost quite few years of age!!!!

Imad still looking as unfit as he was before. Seems like he always manages to do just enough to pass the fitness test.

He still can be Sarfraz deputy. He will play all 3 formats.

He should be in the test squad vs Sri Lanka, let's see how he performs.

He has an elder brother who coached him to become a top level bowler. i was listening to his i terview the other day it was really good and how he spoke about for Hassan to meep his head down focuss on job and how much still he has to achieve. His brother wasnt even worried about giving Hassan a phainty if he doesnt work hard enough.
And on the other hand we have elder brothers like Kamran Akmal who instead of scolding Chota akmal keeps supporting his no sense.

Chota himself is a spoiled brat - Hasan's brother could have given him phainty, because the kid respected his brother, wanted to be someone & believed that what his brother is telling can take him there. May be Kamran isn't saint, but if you start thinking that you are born like Viv Richards .... you know.

Now, it has become a business for Akmals actually - they (including a famous father in law) are backing each others, just to create some space - the more, the better.

The combined excitement of (i) Pakistan finally playing a series after the CT win and (ii) cricket returning to Pakistan, is too much!

Outfield looks beautiful! And seeing famous international faces standing inside Gaddafi stadium is awesome!

Usman Khan looks well built. Do you rate him Abdullah719?

He doesn't appear to be as skilled as the likes of Hasan and Amir but looks to be a good death bowler. Mickey seems to rate him, so interested in seeing what he can do. Might be a good prospect for the shorter formats.

Some of his bowling action is definitely reminiscent of Umar Gul.

It's good to see that he's fit and well-built, Mickey will be very happy about that. :irfan

How so?

He scored a half century in the WI ODI series and scored a half century in his last T20 match lol

Not too sure you want to be mentioning those series:

ODIs:

Ahmed Shehzad (PAK) 3 3 0 75 67 25.00 112 66.96

IT20s:

Ahmed Shehzad (PAK) 4 4 0 84 53 21.00 75 112.00

Absolutely pathetic stuff.

Yes, I think you are right. I rate Mickey's eye for talent so let's see how Shinwari does. I agree re the shorter format- at the very least it will mean bench strength is developed. That said his FC figures are also pretty respectable.

His action actually reminds me of Junaid Khan a little bit.
