What are they gonna do from now until the tournament starts and where will they be living?

They have a camp till the 25th May and they are staying in Birmingham. They have a warmup match against Bangladesh on the 26th.

Are they invited to events and homes by the Pakistani community?

Its the optimist in me that's hoping Azhar manages to bat freely and with a better strike rate this time around, without having to worry about captaincy responsibilities.

Also, they should make those polos available for fans to purchase. They look dope.

Playing Azhar wouldn't be a bad thing. Either way I feel like this is the lowest expectation a Pakstani team has had going into a major tournament.

Before you'd have at least one recognised and established player (best player in current team so to speak) like Inzi, Ajmal, Afridi (popularity), Misbah. But we don't have anyone anymore. If I show the current CT squad to my brother he'd only recognise Amir, Malik, Wahab and a couple others, who aren't 'superstars'. It's because of this that I feel like many people are committed to finishing 3rd in the group but I feel we play better if there's less pressure and expectation. I'm not saying that every Pakistani fan is just a nationalist who follows blindly but I'm saying that the general consensus is that our team is relatively weaker in all aspects compared to other teams and we should support whoever plays and make the best of the occasion - especially the younger players. You have to remember that in tournaments it matters about who plays better on the day.

Wouldn't mind Azhar starting since he's been our best test bat, and he can hopefully translate that into ODIs like when he first did when he was the captain. We'll get a better indication of who'll play in the warm up matches though, so it should be interesting.

So they went straight to England?

They are coming off a long tour of Carribean so I would have preferred them to get 3-4 days in Pakistan to be fair because they've been on the road a lot recently.

Also call me old fashioned or whatever but I don't feel easy with players getting their hands on the trophy before the tournament and without winning it. Even with World Cup trophy you had Misbah posing with it as if he had won it. I think FIFA doesn't allow to touch the World Cup trophy unless you win in and I'd prefer same here.

Are they going to play some practice games against county teams for some practice and get used to the conditions. This can be a big advantage for Pak side.

Nope. Just have a camp. I think all teams get some official warm ups if I'm not wrong

does anyone know if Paksitan will be using the same kit they have been using the past year or will they change it for the champions trophy 2017

Who is the person with the big biceps standing on the left in the first picture? An official?

Are they invited to events and homes by the Pakistani community?

I hope not because that just leads to poor eating.
For example if they were invited to mine my mum would only be able to serve the classic Pakistani cuisine, and the likes of u know who would struggle with portion size and second helpings and it wouldn't just be a water weight issue!!

Good to see Umar reducing his water intake ...................

Bad spotting by Shane. Straighten that bar Babar...

He is too weak still - his cousin is lifting almost double weight & keeping it level (& keeping head at right position - other two are over stressing).

Still looks like a fatty to me.

He has reduced water intake, still hasn't stopped drinking entirely!!!!!! Do you want him to die from dehydration for the sake of Country?

PS: My post has a double meaning, which you have to read between the lines.

From the pics both Babar and Imad are slow and probably not very fit.

Hasan Ali looks very fit.

Babar is fit just not strong. Imad is slow, but the strongest guy in the team.

If they're trying to mould Imad into a power hitter in the lower order, it makes sense to work on his strength primarily. He's gotta try to keep his agility in check too though. Hasan Ali though is seriously impressive as an athlete; benching the same as Imad already.

I'm 90% sure Imad is stronger than Hasan. The latter is probably just doing 3-5 reps. While the former is doing around 10-15.

Probably true, but still Imads got 5 years on Hasan. It's just good to see players emphasizing their fitness finally, been a long time coming.

Lol that's too much weight for Babar anyway.

among all the players only 3 players---- fahim imad and shadab's are looking at ease and their face expressions as well.... look at umar akmal face :uakmal fahim looks in some good shape.

From the pics it looks rear delts workout for shoulder. It is not being weak, that is due to him being a right hander and for junaid being a left hander and inexperienced weight lifting. The way they are doing is very dangerous as they use stools to support the bench. They can use the inclined bench in 45 degree angle and dumb bells to do this.

Pak players already in Birmingham training hard and bonding well. Meanwhile our superstars are busy wasting their time in the nonsense tamasha league.

Man we are getting hammered on June 4th. This will be like CT 2009 all over again.

India is favorite to win the title.

Notes: Anti-Jinx method implemented.

:P

I was thinking the same, is IPL not excessively long?

Always a privilege to read your posts, sir!!

Imad should be concentrating on doing cardio to get rid of that Belly fat that he has gained in the last few months.

Their ODI side certainly is fit and fresh and raring to go . While our key players like Kohli have played an entire home season and then IPL without rest and now CT. As it is we are not that good an ODI team these days. PAK will kill us! :(

can this type of training facility availed by fahim ashraf and few other youngsters can improve their game????

Insha'Allah.

I think, these facilities are useful for the last mile, once you have completed 25 miles of a marathon - that's improve power, stamina, fitness, flexibility etc. But, cricket is a game of skills & mental toughness, which you can master if your fundamentals are perfect. Any game like soccer or basketball, tennis or cricket is not like sprint or swimming that you compete with distance & time - here you compete with another human who also has a mind to think.

Obviously players with similar skill but better fitness & power will out do players with less fitness, stamina or power; but before such facilities, I think more important for Fahim or Hasan or Sami or Shadab or any youngster is a proper domestic system, quality wicket (& ball) & fair judgement (umpiring, scouting, selection etc.), so that they can polish their skills against highest level of opponents, in different conditions which will make them more skilled, mentally tougher & intellectually smarter.

However, I am sure such facilities are available at NCA. PCB needs to expand that in other major centres as well, but that agin brings to the same point of a domestic system which decentralizes cricket across whole country in 6 to 10 equal opportunity segments. This hybrid model doesn't help that.

Fit and Fresh? Azhar Ali, Hafeez, Junaid Khan, Akmal and Fit/Fresh?

I'm guessing Imad is strongest guy in the team.

Wahab & Umar (& Sohail) by some margin, after them, may be Imad. Babar, MoHa & Malik are probably the weakest, which indicates, this game is not all about power.

I feel like running a lot (fast bowling) can limit the amount of muscle you gain. At least in the upper body; But I wouldn't be surprised if Wahab is strong.

That's true but Wahab's naturally built like a tank and he's got more explosive power than others, he'd eat up weights for breakfast.

Hafeez,Junaid and Akmal did not play the tests against the Windies did they? Our lot - Umesh and Kohli especially have played the entire home season and then IPL. Shami was injured, Ashwin had played the entire season and I'm not sure if he has recovered from athletic pubalgia, tailunted has been out of form and MSD and Yuvi are old and past it. Pakistan have no chance of winning the Champions Trophy but they are fitter, fresher and look good to make srmis this time.
