It's all happening out in the middle! Salt now, like Malan in the previous over, could possibly have fallen on a couple of occasions here... firstly he is given out caught behind when looking to pull a Shaheen short ball - he reviews is and survives with no nick shown on UltraEdge. Salt then definitely gets bat on the final ball of the over though, flashing one to the left of Imam at backward point, who puts down a sharp chance. The would have been a worldy of a catch, but it doesn't stick.

If you are dropping catches that an average fan in the crowd can take, you are not playing international cricket.

A note for fans: we did not get disqualified from the 2019 WC because of NRR, we got disqualified due to poor fielding. Had our fielding standards been higher, we probably would have won against AUS and maybe India if Rohit had been run out.

Always remember that Pakistan can be a team that challenges the best if they hold onto catches. Just recently, we perhaps lost a test in NZ due to horrific fielding.

I am really sorry to burst your bubble but this team is not good enough to beat quality teams despite their A effort with the fielding. There are few good individuals like Baber and Rizwan but most of others are quite ordinary and impactless players.

I was a bit vague with my reference. I should have mentioned that the key to toppling bigger teams is controlled bowling and pressurized fielding. If you keep the pressure on the opponents and avoid giving away cheap singles and doubles, you increase run-rate pressure.

Just my personal observations. Of course, you also need quality players, which we lack. But if there's good fielding, you will at least challenge other teams, you may not win, but you will at least challenge them.

I know we criticise our bowlers and rightly so, but today Shadab has had to in effect get Ben Stokes out 3 times due to Pakistan's poor fielding.

They field the ball like its a grenade. Appalling throughout and has been for decades. You can't teach people how to field at this level, it's done at the junior levels and making fielding part of the selection criteria

Misbah-ul-Haq:

The fielding coach can only try and work with the players. The last few series the fielding was ok, but now suddenly these last few matches have been bad. We need to find the reasons as it’s the same players, same team, but now suddenly we’ve had problems. The boys were in quarantine for 10 days but I don’t want to make excuses. Something has gone wrong and our momentum has broken and we are finding it difficult to regain that momentum and our standards have slipped. We are looking at what has caused this and what are the reasons for this and it’s important we sort these issues out before the T20I series and then the series in the Caribbean.

The fielding coach on the current tour is Abdul Majeed. He has previously coached junior, domestic and women’s teams.

His role can't be the easiest in the world of cricket at the moment.

Haris Rauf has taken an absolute screamer. Running backwards and jumping to catch it, then colliding mid-air with Maqsood and still held onto it. Amazing.

Hasnain wasn't right on the boundary for that drop, even though he had been told to stay right back.

He had taken a few steps in - if he had stayed right back he may have caught it.
