Lahore qalandars won't be too disappointed for getting the 2nd pick.I hope they make the right retention choices and drop yasir and hafeez from this team.

I was hoping that there would be at least one new team for this PSL. A Rawalpindi franchise seems to be the most ideal/ best city at the moment, espicially since some of the PSL matches will be in Rawalpindi. For the eighth team, either Faisalabad or Sialkot would probably be the most likely citiies.

Reigning champions Quetta Gladiators to make the first pick in HBL PSL 2020 Player Draft

• Entire 18-round pick order is attached

• Transfer and retention window for HBL PSL 2020 is now open

• HBL PSL Player Draft to have the wildcard rule for the first-time

Karachi, 4 November 2019

HBL Pakistan Super League Player Draft pick order for the 2020 season was announced today following the first-round pick order reveal on Sunday.

Chairman PCB Ehsan Mani, Chief Executive Officer Wasim Khan, owners and representatives of the HBL PSL franchises and representatives of the league partners HBL and Blitz Advertising gathered at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday to determine the pick order of the first round of the HBL PSL 2020 Player Draft.

The first round picks were revealed through the depiction of an age-old street cricket tradition involving the cricket bat.
Reigning HBL PSL champions Quetta Gladiators got the first pick, Lahore Qalandars second, Multan Sultans third, two-time former champions Islamabad United fourth, former champions Peshawar Zalmi got the fifth while Karachi Kings had to settle for the sixth and final pick in the order determined using the cricket bat method.

On Monday, a specially-designed statistical model was used to decide the pick order for the remaining 17 rounds of the Draft.
With the release of the pick order, the transfer and retention window for HBL PSL 2020 has officially opened as teams negotiate for exciting trade possibilities.

As part of this year’s Draft policy, each team can retain up to eight players from last year’s roster. The requirement for teams to pick five foreign players in a squad of 16 players remains unchanged from the previous editions of the HBL PSL.

In addition, teams will be allowed to pick two supplementary players out of which one can be a foreign player.

However teams will have a chance to field a minimum of three and a maximum of four foreign players in the XI.

HBL PSL will be introducing the wildcard pick rule for the 2020 season. A wildcard pick enables teams to pick players from Silver or Gold in the Diamond category round or, alternatively, a player from Silver in the Gold category round at the Draft. Each team will be allowed to exercise one wildcard pick at the Draft and bump-up a player accordingly.

Chief Executive Officer PCB Wasim Khan said: “We are constantly trying to improve and explore new and exciting possibilities in the HBL Pakistan Super League. The wildcard pick rule is one such addition and we feel that it will make the HBL PSL Player Draft even more exciting for our fans and teams.

“The selection strategies will need to adapt to the constantly changing scenarios which will make the teams come up with some out of the box plans as they will have to pre-empt other teams’ wildcard picks. We look forward to a very interesting phase in the lead-up to the Player Draft as teams review their retention possibilities and negotiate potential deals with other teams in the transfer window.”
The HBL PSL 2020 will be staged in Pakistan with action set to start in February 2020.

I think its best to hold off for a few seasons on the next team. Let the PSL come full fledged to Pakistan for atleast 2 seasons with jampacked crowds, hotels and with more stadiums. I can guarantee the PCB can get an excellent price for the 7th team as a result. Maybe the PCB should also wait for an improve title sponsorship and broadcast deal

LAHORE: More than hundred foreign cricketers are interested in participating in the fifth edition of the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) next year.

According to details, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started the registration process of overseas players who are interested in playing the next season of the league. Despite the international fixtures clashing with the expected league schedule, February and March 2019, the PCB is hopeful that top international stars will confirm their availability for HBL PSL5.

It must be noted that entire season five of HBL PSL will take place in Pakistan next year, with Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Multan hosting the matches. Ahead of the draft on December 6 and 7, the first round picks were revealed through the depiction of an age-old street cricket tradition involving the cricket bat.

The trade and retention window will stay open till December 1, after which the final draft list will be prepared.

Where is sandeep?

Do we already have the list of all available players for the draft.
It will be interesting to see how many "big names" will put their hand up knowing it's entirely in Pakistan.

I have my doubts but Inshallah I will be proven to be incorrect.

I hope we get a new coach and captain this year. Enough of Akram and Sammy. We also need power hitters in our squad. Need to pick more all rounders rather than specialists. Rizwan should be picked, should play as a batsman.

Salman Iqbal says that Imad Wasim will be Karachi Kings' captain, Babar Azam will be vice-captain.

YouTube live stream is up. Doesn't seem to be geo-restricted.

No links here please - you can check the PSL YouTube channel.

how does that make sense?
if Pcb can interfere & sack deano for what they called as gaining experience for The great misbah .
then why not let babar Azam captain ? he is your t20i captain .. & there's wc within a year.

T20I captain plays under Imad Wasim in PSL

Worst player in last 2 years in tests, becomes the Test captain

Test captain plays under the T20I captain in FC

Head Coach learns coaching after becoming a coach by coaching a T20I franchise

Lol, Pakistan cricket is a mess

This is franchise cricket. How's it related to the PCB?
You shouldn't take this seriously

Ehsan Mani is a dinosaur. I don't know how he is any better than other oldies in PCB who were before him?

Would have liked Babar to captain in a high profile tournament so he could have been better prepared for T20 WC. However as expected Imad will be the captain and that is why I wanted Babar to be part of some other franchise and it was on the cards until Imad demoted himself to the diamond category so KK can keep the trio of Babar, Amir and Imad.:leo

Still I can hope Babar can learn and Imad allows him to have bit of a say.

What is this?

People don't have the time to listen to this crap. Just get on with the draft

Ramiz and this guy are just having a conversation on what each team needs. They don't even need anyone else there.

What is this?

So the pre-show was a waste of time if they need another one of it also right in front of the owners

This Ramiz segment is so stupid. The guy's lack of knowledge about players is embarrassing

It's not about lack of knowledge. Shouldn't it be done after the draft once the squads are complete? He is literally telling them which players to pick.

Yeah it definitely should be. But if they really wanted to do it before then someone with a brain would've been nice

Moeen Ali to Multan Sultans is not very much expected. But I guess its a solid pick.

Roy as well as Lynn can be dangerous on Pak pitches as they are as good as it gets for stroke play.

Waiting for Sharjeel as well, someone who can be dangerous on the pitches matches will be played on.

Musa Khan bowling with Dale Steyn is what Pakistan fan want to see?????

WHAT!!!

Dale steyn-Islamabad

The host is hilarious -Musa and Steyn is a sight to watch :))

LQ have once again picked a player on reputation. Lynn has been underperforming for atleast couple of seasons now. My bet is that LQ are once again going to finsih at bottom.

Couldnt have asked for better names in Platinum category playing in Pakistan. Prospect of Steyn, Roy, Hales, Lynn, Mo Ali playing in Pakistan is mouth watering.
