Most of it is in Urdu/Hindi, (roman and traditional), and desi-English...and seems to go unpunished by the social media companies.

Is it because of the languages used?

Social media has been a toxic platform for people with different agendas. It isn't restricted to India vs Pakistan only.

Just goto reddit and you'll see many different subs with even higher level of toxicity. Just visit TwoXChromosomes in reddit and you'll see same level but with different demography.

There's equal if not more vile abuse of Indians by Pakistanis going around. The ones who post in Hindi/Urdu/bad English are the worst.

But there are sensible voices on both sides as well

I know, that's why I said "and vice versa" it's completely toxic...

But as you say, thankfully there are sensible voices but sadly they are in the minority.

Of course you will get abuse on social media, thats what social media is and has been. Social media is a place where people can say nasty things. Dont go on social media and you wont have that problem.

Well this is a complete lie.

I am on so many non-desi portals, from Football to General life and on almost all of them they will have majority of their posters from UK/US/Canada (i.e white posters) and all the ethnic minority posters will be vastly Indian and almost all of them will make snide posts dishing out abuse and your average BJP propaganda about Pakistan wherever they can, I know it as I attempted to counter it more than once but its simply impossible due to the sheer numbers of Indian posters. Amount of message boards where I have seen this happen have been utterly countless. You will usually have a couple of Pakistani posters who are always vastly outnumbered by Indians.

India has 1.5 billion people. If even 15% of them abuse Pakistan online, which is not much at all, that's more than the entire Pakistani population put together.
