[PICTURES] Unprofessional behaviour, poor diets and smoking

BCCI may or may not have a nutritionist on their payroll but I am sure every Indian player is motivated enough to consult one- everybody knows they cannot be in Kohli’s team if they don’t meet his fitness standards. However the tone from our top is different - when our captain himself is yawning sluggishly on the field, how can we expect the juniors to be fit or diet conscious?

Irrespective of what PCB can or cannot do- its on the captain & players themselves to realize their own fitness needs. After all, its their own professional reputation at stake when they are out on the field dropping catches.

Great. So let’s get the team a nutritionist and while we’re at it let’s get them a chef who will whip up healthy meals for players even when they attend dinners to the high commission. Perhaps we should also add a person who will monitor the players to ensure they’re following the right diet and slap their wrists when they have a soda.

Habits are built over time and regardless of how much Mickey tried focusing on yo yo tests and the focus on fitness you still have players smoking, eating garbage, and not keeping up with fitness during off season.

The long-term solution is to fix the system causing this and not employ a person who will hold the players hand after they’ve made it to the national team. The nutritionist idea is like putting a bandage to stop bleeding without stitching up the wound.

Why? Are they that dumb that they cannot comprehend the seriousness of fitness regime? Are they professional sportsmen or village illiterates?

And where did i say that PCB should employ a nutritionist full time - i am asking is that the players should themselves become accountable for their fitness & that should come from the captain & probably could be monitored by the PCB. The problem is that the captain is a real fitness illiterate himself, fix him & the rest of the squad will automatically get fit.

I hate to break it to you...majority of Pakistan players are villagers or from small towns that grow up with little education. You have only a handful guys in the WC squad that come from privilege and they're not even your best players. You have no school or college level sports and the kids that go to better/good schools don't toil away in the heat for hours because they know better.

Going by your logic we should make Hassan Ali captain because he's ripped. Expecting players to adapt and change after reaching the international level takes far too long and is not really a solution. Fix the path that leads them to the national level and you won't have to worry about junk rising to the top.

What a team. Enjoying burgers, fries, milk shakes and late night outings and dinners while playing one of the biggest tournament of their lifetimes. No worries. Chilling and enjoying life is the motto. After all, winning and losing is in God's hands. Who cares what people of their country feel. Lets have fun while we are at it right. What a team.

You are sounding as you only just found that this is the culture in and for Pakistan?

This is deep rooted just like corruption which could take centuries to get a hold on and resist.

Sorry sir, I thought our team was made up of professional players who get paid very well to act as professional athletes and not behave like regular people but if you think our culture makes their behavior fine than what more can I say.

Where did I imply that I am fine with it? Just that it is a norm for them not to be professionals and eat whatever they want.

It is something as I said just like corruption which is deep rooted in the society as fitness is something that does not come naturally to them especially in that part of the world.

As for professional athletes that we have not produced many in the last 70 years apart from those that played the sport back in the 60' to perhaps mid 80's.

If all this is a norm then what's all the fuss about. Why even bother playing any professional game. Lets just play kabaddi instead.

Our teams in the past were better than aussies but why did did we lose more, it was all to do with fitness.

This period of no cricket must be a great test of resolve for our cricketers!

Babar Azam’s birthday a couple of days ago, players had cake.

Hafeez’s daughters Birthday yesterday, players had cake.

Hafeez’s birthday today, players had cake.

3 cakes in one week🤤 I feel diabetic after one spoon.

Anymore players birthdays ahead of the WT20?

Fitness standards are better now compared with the 2019 WC.

However, I don't think they'd be dumb enough to chow on entire cakes by themselves.

3 slices won't do anything to anyone, but loading on unhealthy food is where the problem lies.

I assume liquid sugar is the worst. Players have professional dietitians nowadays who manage their intake and calories. These extra calories can easily be adjusted.

tbh apart from sharjeel and azam most have decent leanness, problem is realtively low muscle levels, which is ok for most disciplines, but means pak struggle with power hitting.

Worse than indulging in the wrong type of food is the lack of rest before a big game. It was cringeworthy to watch Sarfraz yawn on the field in the middle of a game. Hoping the team is well rested
