[PICTURES] Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The youngest cricketer ever to be chosen to play in the IPL

Looks 16-17. Not as big a fudger as Ali Raza so there's that too.

I don’t see any facial hair yet on his face, more likely 15-16.

You wouldn’t believe how big some of the kids are these days. Some middle schoolers in my neighborhood look to be in their late teens!

Yea he relies on bat speed. Not actually power.

Lol making mockery of cricket. Some serious hitting without any fear whatsoever.

Pakistani batsmen should learn from these young Indian batsmen.

14-YEAR-OLD VAIBHAV SURYAVANSHI HAS SMASHED HUNDRED FROM JUST 35 BALLS WITH 11 SIX AND 7 FOUR

:kp

Imagine going to school and telling your friends about how you scored the fastest 100 in The IPL history against one of the previous champions. :kp

People should stop hating him for the age issue. This is a great achievement and the lead only continues to impress.

History has been made in the IPL today.

Take a bow Young Vaibhav!!

Quite unbelievable for a 14 year old to be dominating a match where Shubhman Gill, Jaiswal who are considered youngsters still are playing.

We all cricket fans in childhood used to create fake scenarios where we would make our teams win from difficult situation but doubt anyone ever imagined a 35 ball century, because we were too young to hit that hard. Sports is magic, isn't it?! What a game and what a talent this lad

Perhaps you Indians were unable to imagine it, but we grew up with youngsters hitting sub 40 ball centuries :afridi

This teenager is worth more than the entire Bangladesh lineup that got bowled out for 190 recently.

In fact greater than all BD batters put together.

What a talent :inti

Lol , congratulations to the guy irrespective of anything that’s a good achievement hopefully doesnt lose focus

Lala was a younsta beauty 😍 but he must have been 18 when he hit that 37 ball century.
Some folks transcend the measure of time... Lala can't be captured in the confines of age. 16 or 46 or 56 Lala continues to act the same :afridi

I have been watching cricket through decades. I have not seen anything like what i have been seeing in the last 2 years. Indian team is putting up scores like 240, 250. Game has evolved significantly. He is not the first youngster who is doing this kind of hitting. Already seen a few this season. Quiet a few are sitting on the bench. This is advanced level of six hitting from these youngsters. High time these oldies should step aside. Glad Kohli, Rohit have packed their bags although Rohit can still produce such innings. KL Rahul is another guy who plays this "cautious" cricket saying the pitch is "tricky". You need to construct a team which has depth and some class players who can adapt if needed.

Guys stick to the topic, this thread is not about KPK players or Rizwan so better bump the relevant thread.

What's this Afghanistan-level malarkey going on in the state of Bihar?

A 12 year old Vaibhav has made his FC debut vs Mumbai playing for Bihar. As I type, he's currently holding one end for his team as Bihar predictably capitulate against the domestic giant Mumbai.

I checked his profile and it says he played a few games for India U19. This means he was subjected to all the procedural checks at NCA and got a green flag.

Or did he just prove that the NCA age-checking process is far from foolproof? I know for certain age fudging is rampant in that part of the country because coveted government jobs, Sarkari naukari, etc come with an age limit.

I saw his photo and he looks much like what Prithvi Shaw looked like in 2012-13.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 12-year-old Bihar cricketer, makes his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy

Friday was the start of the most recent season of the Ranji Trophy, India's premier red-ball domestic competition, at a number of different locations. There are up to 19 games going on, with 38 teams participating.

The Ranji Trophy is currently underway, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a great young player from Bihar, has made waves in the cricket world by making his first-class debut.

At the juvenile age of twelve, Vaibhav has already surpassed the early records set by cricket greats Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar to become one of the youngest debutants in Indian first-class cricket history.

If Vaibhav's age of 12 is accurate, he will be among the youngest debutants in the history of the Indian first class, younger than Yuvraj Singh and the illustrious Sachin Tendulkar.

Vaibhav proved his ability as a cricketer last year by playing for the India B U19 side in a Quadrangular Under-19 series, which preceded his debut into the Ranji Trophy. He made a lasting impression throughout this series with a remarkable effort, scoring 177 runs in six innings, including two tremendous half -centuries.

With 393 runs from five matches and an average of 78.60, he ended as the eighth-best run scorer at the Vinoo Mankad Trophy the previous year. He made one hundred and thirty-three half-centuries.

Vaibhav revealed in an interview that he began playing cricket at the age of nine, receiving early coaching from his father. This young cricketer, who is well-known for his love of the pull shot, is currently making big progress on the local circuit.

I just watched the highlights of his 100 in IPL today before commenting on it. Power to the kid but kudos to the staff and everybody who gave him the confidence to go out there and bat like that with no worries in the world.

Awesome to watch and congrats India for continuing to not only unearth but also nurture Talent.

He may or may not have a great future but so far so good.

Wonderful to watch a 14 year old go out and play with not a care in the world and this isn't a fluke in Indian system, there are other youngsters who are playing this brand of Cricket and belting the ball.

This is what good scouting does, he must have been spotted when he was 12/13.

Good on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Not 14. Coming straight from the horses mouth. 2 years ago was 14.

All this spotlight at this age is only going to end in disaster for him. This innings may well turn out to be bad for him in the long run if the sponsors swoop in and make a hero out of him. Too much success at too young of an age does not end up well. History suggests that. Across sports.

He certainly is not 14. He doesn't look 14 at all. He is atleast 16 maybe even 17 but has got abundant talent scoring a 35 ball hundred is no small feat.
Simply amazing.

Nope, does not look 17- doesn’t have any facial hair yet. Might be max 15. Also I have seen larger 13 year olds in my neighborhood, so don’t go by his size.

Lol he was 14, 2 years ago and he is still 14 lol. How could he be still 14 after 2 years.

He has facial hair he shaves his facial hair you can tell by looking at his face.

Even by that confession, he will be 16 in September, still 15 currently. Sounds about right.

There's a big issue either with your understanding of Hindi or basic maths. Watch that again and tell me what you find.

I said it many times,
This is the rise of Sanatan.

Found this picture in my Facebook feed. Picture is from 2022 and he looks like he is 12. This means he is 15 now 🤔

No doubts. His inning was fantastic. Even if he is 16, that inning was something very special... I like his first impressions.

All these kids emerging today, their fathers take the biggest credit for that. All a bunch of proud dads who dedicated their life to make their kids an international cricketer.

Fatherhood is underrated.
Behind every great man is a father who passed on the right teachings

hope he doesnt follow Prithvi Shaw’s path
He is under Rahul Dravid. He will guide him. RR management will also take care of him. THen there are other youngsters who will guide him. Jaiswal, Jurel, Paragh, Samson. In this day and age not working hard enough has no excuse.

Not looking like a 14 to me... in an interview from 2 years ago, he said that he is gonna turn 14 this year,,, how can he be 14 after 2 years still???

Jaiswal is looking younger here...LOL

His father has refused the allegations and claims he went through BCCI bone testing at the age of 8. It is actually a very accurate process. Jaiswal has baby face and not younger as Vaibhav has baby fat. My guess he is no more than 16 at worst.

Most of our cricketers in Pakistan pursued cricket against the wishes of their family. I still think it's the case. There isn't a culture of fathers taking their kids for training and sports as their is in western countries. Kids play in the streets. You see lots of interviews of cricketers that i used to sneak out to play, or my parents didn't approve. It appears in India this culture of sports being acceptable has developed too, probably due to IPL.
