[PICTURES/VIDEO] Pakistan bowling coach Waqar Younis holds two-day bowlers camp in Lahore

Very promising tweet that from Waqar. “Time to move forward.”

I hope he also take at least two of them to Australia.

These selections don't seem exciting.

Also do these camps actually prove fruitful?

To be honest I am not exactly sure what everybody was expecting. Though the news isnt confirmed but did you all really think that Pak would and should have gone with Abbas with 14 tests, Shaheen with 3 tests while Musa, Naseem and Sameen all debuting.

I dont remember last time a team touring Australia with three debutant pacers and other two with 14 and 3 matches respectively.

Not saying Imran and Rahat (If selected) will bamboozle Aus but not sure if 3 debutants along someone with test matches and just recovered from dangue would be a great decision as well (personally i wouldnt have mind as I like seeing you youngsters). People and media would have criticized either ways in my opinion because none of these situations are great to be in but then thats the only available scenarios.

We have to go with raw and talented fast bowlers, you gain experience in international cricket by playing not bench warming, pace is key, like I've stated even broad and Anderson struggled in Australia on their roads, to be successful in Australia you have to challenge them with 145+ bowling, let's face it were not winning their, but at least let's put up a fight, if we play trundlers then were in for a massacring

Well I don't remember the last time we won a series in Australia, because we haven't. The selections should be made on merit, Rahat, Imran and Musa don't merit selection. Sameen and Naseem do. Who cares what the media says. If Misbah was scared of the media, he shouldn't have taken the job.

This is a desperate time in Pakistan cricket, and this calls for an overhaul of our bowling. We need fresh faces, even if that means a pace attack with under 20 games of experience. The Aussies will literally laugh when the Rahat and Imran sr bowl. They have terrible fitness, pace, accuracy and skill.

Not an experience of just under 20 test matches but also without any considerable experience of first class cricket except Abbas and Sameen Gul. Which merit are you talking about? Are you referring to 3-4 FC matches in QAE this season? While Naseem could have been there over Musa as he performed better but a sample size of 4 matches is too small to take If thats the merit than Rahat has more than wickets than Gul and Musa and at better average, so whats the fuss about? If 4-5 matches QAE is the merit than following should be in the squad and I personally have no issues as it looks good to
me:

Ehsan Adil
Abbas
Shaheen
Naseem
Gul
Gohar
Yasir

This way we would have had two debutant pacers but an attack with decent overall FC experience.

I agree that something which was never done before should have been done risk is not of loosing series only when you take teenage bowlers with not much of first class experience, its also the mental scarring and effects that can make a youngster loose his confidence when playing against a strong opposing in tests and that too in conditions not very easy to adjust.

Next time, I would hope that PP will have a representative in press briefing before such “camp”, to ask exactly what is the objective (s) of such camp and what they are trying to achieve. I couldn’t figure out any logic for the players called for this camp considering the next tour had 2 Tests & 3 T20s.

Bilal Asif, Bilawal Bhatti, Imran Sr, Kashif, Irfan Jr., Tabish Khan ..... what these players are doing here, just before a tour of Australia!!!!!! They haven’t called Gohar, Raza Hasan or Kamran Ghulam (for T20), no Amad, Rauf, Hasnain, Adil or Yamin either after spending one WC behind Hasnain.

And, looks like PCB extracted a two days window from National T20 cup, during weekends to accommodate this camp.

Then you have shameless supporters justifying the pathetic selections.

I'd rather they picked bowlers for the future than some bowlers who are past their best.

Agreed, we are not winning this, so should go with the kids, atleast get something out of it. Sure kids dont have experience or may have some flaws, but let them play and show them and then teach them, if they are sincere and hard workers they will learn and improve, otherwise let them do hard yards at domestic. I think this will be a golden opportunity missed.

This can have 2 meanings:

1. Misbah has had some sense knocked into him and has picked young quicks for Aussie. Hopefully Naseem and Sameen.

2. Misbah has gone for the TTFs, Waqar is now mad and is tweeting this cause he is mad at Misbah.

Knowing Misbah it is probably scenario 2.

Exactly this.

It seems Waqar is showing his displeasure with Musbah’s decision to pick Rahway, Imran and maybe one other oldie....

Waqar (as a coach/manager) is the worst thing that can happen to Pak. He’s just full of himself and arrogant. Even as a bowler, i dont rate him very highly + the shoddy character (Qayum report et al).

As player he was good. His has past failures as coach where Dodgyness happened under his nose.
I think there is still something wrong in Pak Cricket for him to have returned to the team so quickly.
I was hoping Wasim Khan would clean up Pak cricket but I guess he is just clueless or powerless.
