ISLAMABAD UNITED INTRODUCES THE HOME-AWAY KITS CONCEPT TO PAKISTAN

Islamabad, 22 January 2020 – Islamabad United, the most successful team of the HBL PSL with two championship wins, are pleased to the announce the launch of its official home and away kits for PSLV. The kit was released on Islamabad United’s digital platforms today.

With this launch, Islamabad United has introduced the concept of Home-Away kits to the PSL as well as Pakistan sports in general. The team which prides itself in pioneering new and innovative concepts to PSL, also becomes the first team in PSL history to have both a home and away kits. With the Pindi Cricket Stadium designated as Islamabad United’s permanent home, the matches there will be played in the team’s home kit. For matches outside of Rawalpindi/Islamabad the Away Kit will be employed.

Regarding the new concept, Ali Naqvi, the owner of the franchise said, “We have always prioritized quality over appearance, and the changes we have made for our kits over the past years have been reflective of that. While the concept of home and away kit is becoming more of a norm in cricket, we are proud to be the first to introduce that concept in Pakistan. Islamabad United has always taken pride in being innovative in everything on and off the field, and this is just a continuation of that. Our fans in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will see us in our familiar red. The Pindi Cricket Stadium is our home ground, where we have waited for five years to play, and we want to truly make it our home.”

One of the priorities that Islamabad United has defined for itself is the introduction of international standards and practices to Pakistan cricket – not only with what happens on the field, but everything that happens around it too. Introduction of this kits concept is another action to further cement that proud tradition.

The details for the new kit are:

Flame Red – Represents Power and Intellect. Islamabad United is the #DimaghSe Team. We believe in equipping ourselves with the modern tools of sporting success. Our dominant use of this color in our ‘home kit’ indicates our strategy of not only benefitting from the passion and love we get from our home fans and but to continue using our #DimaghSe strategy.

Fire Red – Represents Passion and Skill. Traits that form a core part of ISLU and Pakistan’s firebrand sporting identity.

Flame Yellow – Represents Unity and Fair Play. We play as one in the ISLU Family and are proud to represent the entire federation in our own league. We strongly believe that #UnitedWeWin as a team and as a nation. Our dominant use of this color in our ‘Away kit’ indicates our strong desire for unity as a team and a nation in ‘away’ stadia.

The Two Star Sheru Logo – Represents Pride, Honour and Regalia. ISLU takes immense pride in being the only two-time champions of the PSL.

ISLU kits look great. Zalmi one not so much. But that's because of the awful color combination of Yellow and Black, rather than the design.

Aesthetically, only ISLU and QG have good-looking kits in the PSL.

Loved Peshawars last year kit. THis year kit just sucks bad.

However this gold kit is great one

Islamabad Unites color combination is not that good.

They should had opted for goold not yellow.
They have a red kit, and you an make the best design out of red. SOmething like Team Canada Crickets jersey

The yellow Zalmi kit would look a lot better with black pants. The black and gold jersey is fantastic though.

I like both home and away jersey for untied and Zalmi

I just wish Lahore qalandars can go back to the first jersey they had like that color scheme red and black I don't know why they go for that lime green look makes no sense

Karachi Kings will not be formally launching their kit before start of PSL; The kit is not likely to be very different from the last edition of the PSL and it will be visible for all to see when PSL begins:)

Lahore Qalanders kit for PSL season 2020 (confirmed):)

The kit unveiling - Lahori Style!

LQ kit from the first season was the best. They should have kept the same color

Worst kit, worst team worst performance, we North Punjabis and Faisalabadians deserve better. Here hoping for two new teams Faisalabad and Sialkot in next season and both playing in their home city. Then we won't care for Lahore and their worst everything.

Exactly exactly exactly . Red and black logo with red black jersey is the way to go it's not rocket science, it never made sense to me why they went with lime green horrible. I hope if they have an away jersey atleast that one they try to make decent

Dang all of these jerseys are disappointing. I've seen college sports teams in America with much better jerseys. I feel like these franchises should hire a better design team and work with big companies like Nike and Adidas, these Pakistani sportswear brands are pretty disappointing and don't have good aesthetic taste.

I understand the PCB and the franchise wants to help and support Pakistani sportswear brands however they should not compromise quality and aesthetic, they've been giving multiple opportunities to these companies for decades. I think they got comfortable and don't think they need to improve and get to the level of Nike and Adidas. Even a protectionist country like India makes their jerseys from Nike.

The NT can't get Nike or Adidas so what makes you believe these franchises could do that?

They can get it, any team can. They just want to support local businesses, Pakistan takes a lot of pride in their sports brands based in Sialkot however I think they should prioritize aesthetic and forget about the nationalist "support your own" thing.

Pakistan is a small market for Nike and Adidas, a shrinking middle class and Pakistan's economic situation is to be blamed.

It has nothing to do with market size, the PCB can easily order jerseys from them even it cost a lot more than local companiess, local high schools do this all the time here they pay tens of thousands of dollars to get their uniforms made by Nike. They may not get a contract or sponsorship although I think Pakistan home 200 million people and the cricket team having a huge fanbase could get them a deal with either of the big global sport brands but like I said any team/franchise/country can place an order with Nike, Adidas or any sportswear brand. We've even done that for the little intramural events we have on campus, the PCB can certainly afford it and so can these multimillionaire franchise owners.

Seems to be their training kit for this year - no confirmation though

Lahore's kit is plain ugly and dull.

Is there anything they can possibly do right?

No professional team will pay brands to make their jerseys, its the other way around. Nike and Adidas don't have operations in Pakistan therefore only local brands

PIA ke paas paisay hain nahi and here they are sponsoring a PSL team

We have the worst kit out there and to make matters worse neither here nor there Imad Wasim is our captain. If it wasn't for LQ we would come last every year. Thank you LQ for being utterly pathetic.

i think KK will be 5th and LQ will be 6th again this time ... MS going to get 4th.

Qalandars can't even make a decent kit

We deserve so much better than this joke of a franchise. Rana brothers need to be removed asap.

Apart from the Zalmi kit, the rest look pretty poorly designed.

ISLU kit is still the best. QG didnt bother to change theirs and the Lahore one just looks atrocious.

What terrible kits. Well done Karachi and Lahore for reaching new lows in every department. Even Islamabad's looks ugly.
I can design better versions, seriously.

What an ugly looking kit for both LQ and KK.

Is it really that hard to design a decent kit?

LQ needs to bring back that black and red kit they had.

ISLU kit is still the best. QG didnt bother to change theirs and the Lahore one just looks atrocious.

The problem is, the likes of Adidas, Reebok, Puma etc are nowhere to be seen regarding these kits.

Lahore and Karachi kits are vomit inducing.

Islamabad is just plain lazy. No effort put in the designing whatsoever.

Quetta and Zalmi are quite good. Personally, I like Quetta's the most.

Side note - This LQ captain. Is he a halwai or a cricketer? Atrocious physique for an athlete!

Karachi kings. Such a big Franchise with such an amateur Kit.

Complete waste of potential with their manager and brand outlook

The problem is, the likes of Adidas, Reebok, Puma etc are nowhere to be seen regarding these kits.

Why are the Franchises not going for these brands? I would rather pay Adidas £50 per kit instead of waiting for them to come and offer to do it for free.

Other way around.....the companies aren't keen on the franchises yet.

PSL is still quite new, there have been spot-fixing issues and the tournament is still developing.

Why did KK change theirs. It was pretty good last season. It looks so ugly now. LQ is also really ugly. PZ looks good. ISLU looks way too bland. QG looks good as always.

Quetta and Peshawar are the only decent looking kits.

Karachi and Lahore are abysmal

Zalmi has the best kit and the best anthem.
I just want them using black trousers with their kit as i have seen some images of yellow trousers and it doesn't look good.

The problem is, the likes of Adidas, Reebok, Puma etc are nowhere to be seen regarding these kits.

Companies like these have never recognized Pakistan as a major potential market so I can't say I am particularly surprised.

Amazing fitness of Sohail Akhtar.

How can you judge his fitness by looking at the picture. Sometimes there is bad angles, shirt doesn't fit properly as well.

Finch is huge but it is all muscles

Where is Multan Sultan’s official kit? Are they using the same as last year or the one they were wearing in the match against MCC?
The one they used last year was fine but it looked more of a Pakistan National team kit than a franchise kit.
