[PICTURES/VIDEO] When Franchise owners are ignorant of the damage they have caused

A couple of points regarding the franchises owners.

Until such a time that the PCB doesn't clamp down on them, then they will continue to take the PCB for a ride when it comes to the PSL. At the moment the PCB seems to be in fear of them, which doesn't make for a healthy relationship.

Also, they do make statements and then try to say that they didn't mean what they said. If you are saying things then stand by them.

Whether he tests positive or not, it looks like Darren Sammy isn't going to be allowed to go home until he has fulfilled all of his requirements for PZ.

PZ's owners are certainly getting their money's worth from him.

Seems Sammy getting some reaction from people for his disregard for social distancing:

==

On Monday, March 8, former West Indies captain Daren Sammy took to Twitter and shared pictures of himself playing street tape ball cricket with youngsters. In the caption, he mentioned that he played some cricket in Lahore earlier and went on to ask his fans where should he play next. Surprisingly for the cricketer, he got hilariously trolled by his fans and followers instead.

Some fans mocked Sammy for ignoring the social distancing protocols during the pandemic. They also brought up the rumours of Sammy being one of the members who breached the bio-bubble during the PSL 2021 season. Meanwhile, others simply trolled the two-time T20 World Cup winner by warning him about the tough rules of street cricket.

Well as I said, these guys will have been told that when you come to Pakistan you have to do the following for the Zalmi brand, the team and for the owners. Otherwise you don't get your dollars.

Atleast they are being made to work for their paychecks unlike most franchises who chose to pay their players 80% upfront and with no recourse to get that money back

I've spoken with a few players and that 70% or 80% payment up front story may not be true.

Some players haven't had any money up front at all.

I would never troll the guy he's an ambassador for Pakistan cricket, he's a 2-time winning captain of the WT20 Cup and winner of PSL 2 as well. He's always welcome in Pakistan in my view, however Javed Afridi as oppose to being hospitable is doing more damage if Sammy catches the infection.

Mr Daren Julius Garvey Sammy- former West Indian Cricketer, Mr Hashim Mahomed Amla-Former South African Cricketer, Mr Muhammad Akram-former Pakistani Cricketer and Mr Javed Afridi-owner of Peshawar Zalmi franchise called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), today.

COAS appreciated the dignitaries for their contributions for bringing international cricket to Pakistan and being the ambassadors of peace. COAS congratulated the cricketers on success and growth of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and expressed hope that it recommences early for much awaited jubilation of entire country.

Visiting dignitaries also shared experience of their visits to different parts of Pakistan and seeing Pakistan as a beautiful and peaceful country.

Damn how much money is he being offered?

Sammy must be laughing all the way to the bank. Talk about a bits and pieces player winning the jackpot.

If Franchise owners have played their part in spreading Covid during the PSL, I'm not going to blame them first.

You can't expect these owners to take PCB seriously when they have appointed a Head Coach with no experience and insufficient qualifications.

I laugh at people who expect professionalism from them when you got Misbah who went behind Mickey's back merely to serve his own interests.

PCB needs to clean its own house and set the right example with its governance otherwise no one will take them seriously.

Darren Sammy and Hashim Amla must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Raking in the dollars for a few smiles, a bit of dancing, playing some street cricket, watching some cricket and saying a few nice things.

But who can blame them, if the owner has money to throw away for such things, then don't turn it down is probably their thinking.

Can you confirm/deny this via your sources?

If this is true, it is completely mind-boggling even for PCB’s standards.

Asked about this.

Some spent 1 day, some 2 days. It wasn't with the tableeghi jamaat. It was on their own. The players were in the same masjid, privately.

Wow.

The unprofessional and recklessness of this PCB regime reaches new heights.

I don't know man but I would do these high society parties for free. 5 star food alone would be enough for me.

You couldn't pay me enough to spend this time with Kamran Akmal, Javed Afridi and Wahab Riaz. Thanks but no thanks.

You'll also get free citizenship and pan-country tours thrown into the mix.

These franchise owners need to be brought back down to earth. They are not the be all and end all.

1. PSL has had enough success now for us to be able to find new owners for the franchises without a whole deal of hassle. They are not unexpendable, irreplaceable, Gods etc They are just a bunch of people who currently own the teams in the PSL. Yes, PCB should have good, productive working relations with them but they need to know their place if they think they can boss PCB around and make PCB change schedules of important away tours etc.

2. This is not India where IPL is the be all and end all of life and takes precedence over everything else and mountains will attempt to be moved before someone can even urinate to disrupt the IPL a little. This is Pakistan. Yes PSL is enjoyable and plays an important role now, especially in bringing cricket back to Pakistan but the tour of South Africa is still more important.

So they have to air their views but they can't be getting into huffs and puffs. The PCB is in charge here, not them.

Spend time with 2 world class Cricket players. Sign me up.

We may troll these underperformers but they still are or used to be some of the best crickets players. I have fielded 2 days straight to get a chance to face a ranji level bowler. I will pay premiem money to meet real test cricketers for a meal.

Is it any worse then someone like Glen Maxwell earning $1.5 million from the IPL every year from the last 3 seasons despite not delivering anything? He is definitely laughing way more to the bank. Atleast Sammy and Amla did some real work for the money they are earning

Well everyone's definitions of real work can be different.

Some would say playing cricket whether performing or not, is real work.

Being paid to hype a businessman in parties is a job too. A hard one. You have to act certain way all the time and it erodes your dignity in public.

Yeah right, I am sure organizations who appoint non performing CEOs on fat salaries will keep them on just because they are doing real work.

The likes of Sammy, Amla are not getting paid for doing nothing

Looking at these pics explains to you exactly how and why the PSL was postponed.

But this is working hard according to some :)

Pretty sure the PZ owner has said to them, you ain't going anywhere until I have squeezed every marketing opportunity I can out of you. I don't care whether you get Covid or not.

What SOPs are being broken at Javed's house?

You said SOPs. Has the Pakistani government forbidden indoor gatherings?

Some of you really need to visit Pakistan and see what the reality is over there.

How many cricket players are in hospital due to covid since they breached all the rules?

They're not in public. They are in their home and are private citizens.

You don't think the 100s of other players in the PSL are meeting with people in their homes?

The only mistake they made was posting the pictures online as that's in bad taste.

Locking themselves in their rooms won't bring the PSL back. Try to understand.

Do you want them to sit in their rooms and cry? When would it be ok to see each other again? Tomorrow? 2 days from now? Next week?

People living overseas want to dictate how Pakistanis should be living in their own homes. Amazing.

These are private citizens doing whatever they wish in their homes. They are obviously comfortable with the risk.

Anybody blaming the PCB if one of them catches COVID obviously has an agenda and would find any other reason to blame the PCB.

lmaooo

No wonder PSL got cancelled.

These pics are a symptom of a deeper problem.

But let's stick to tangential arguments that they are free to do what they wanted at their home and PSL getting cancelled was just an "unfortunate" and "unlucky" occurence. lol.
Major was 1000% bang on.

PSL cancelled and still no masks?

Even the word "shameless" ain't enough.

I am truly shocked to see Amla part of this nonsense.

It's funny at everyone having a go at the players, the PCB, the franchises, when I was in Pakistan, the vast majority of people in Pakistan were very casual, relaxed when it came to social distancing, wearing masks, most people had the attitude, jo hoga dekha jaye ga, agar humain hoa toh bas kismat and Allah Tallah ki marzi etc

To each their own. I don't generally get star struck.

I am also not desperate for social media likes by paying money to have a picture taken with celebrities that too a couple of below average Pakistani players.

Maybe the likes of Sammy and Amla truly love Pakistan and want to spend as much time as possible here.

The likes of Michael Holding and Curtly Ambrose came to visit Pakistan for a week in a private capacity in the last two years. No one accused them of selling out

What about the foreign players, officials, Commentators who come to India? No one accuses them of selling out.

Is it a reality that Pakistanis or some Pakistanis have such low self esteem that they view a foreigner spending a bit more time than usual in Pakistan with suspicion and that they feel that Pakistan is not worth a foreigners time for longer than necessary?

Comparing people with cricketers here...

If we apply this yardstick, no one can ever be blamed for covid in the world. No one.

Think it over and you will get the answer to your question yourself.

Its not question of 'star struck'. How many times do you get to discuss cricket with real elite cricketers? I post in these forums just to discuss cricket with rational cricket fans. Why would I decline doing that with test cricketers?

PSL got cancelled because the bubble wasn't respected or enforced all around by all parties.

The PSL is over.

They are in their own homes right now.

Their is no bubble.

Try to understand.

Yes there is no bubble but there is still such a thing as individual responsibility. I am also not in any technical 'bubble' but I haven't met my friends, gone to a restaurant, gone to the cinema, gone on a date, gone to the pub etc since March 2020. I have been stuck at home. It is called following the guidance so we can all get out of this mess as soon as possible.

Leave him. Everyone acts tough when they know their toughness will not be tested. He knows know one will pay him money to spend time with the likes of Akmal and Wahab but if they did, he wouldn’t think twice about it.

No one would, so I don’t think there is any point in arguing with him over this matter. Everyone is moral, tough, brave, ethical and courageous until these virtues are put to the test.

Not sure why people have an issue with this. The reality is that live moves on and we have to learn to live with it.

It has been over a year now and you cannot expect people to lock themselves up at home and not resume normal life.

Although I had my first dose of vaccine last month, I have tried my best to normalize my life again while taking necessary precautions such as wearing masks in public etc.

The issue is that some people will criticize the franchise owners and the players for the sake of it just so that they can take attention away from the sheer incompetence of PCB.

They and they alone are responsible for this debacle. I have two inside sources in PSL (PSL head of security and a brand ambassador) and the reality is that the whole arrangement was extremely lax.

PCB took the bare minimum measured to ensure that the bubble is maintained and when there is no accountability and regulation, people will be casual about it. It is human nature.

I have seen doctors and healthcare professionals violate SOPs when there is no one to keep a check on them, let alone cricketers, celebrities, businessmen etc.

Issue was timing of all this.

You just had a PSL cancelled. Today was suppose to be the final. The reason for cancellation was violating the SOPs. And yet they continue having such outings during the time period of PSL.

Lol now if God forbid if Sammy and Amla catch Covid, Javed Afridi is going to blame the PCB instead of putting his hands up and another notorious individual will blame Wasim Khan

Sammy must be laughing all the way to the bank. Talk about a bits and pieces player winning the jackpot.

Bits and pieces player who is the only captain to win two world cups ... his man management / leadership skills are second to none.

Javed Afridi deserves some respect. He played a pivotal part in bringing PSL back to Pakistan when he was able to convince his players to play in that PSL final (held in Pakistan) a few years ago.

Those dissing Javed Afridi are the reason why they struggle with their academics and suffering from career progression whereas JA is making millions. Keep the hate going.

And that is a personal choice you made based on your risk appetite and this was a personal choice these coaches made based on their risk appetite.

Its other old people and vulnerable people who will be killed by these choices, not they personally. In many countries such things are now carrying prison terms. Personal choice should be only what affects you, not which kills other innocent people because you are spreading diseases

Haha at the same time not everyone's as desperate for attention as you. Your desperation speaks volumes when you constantly post cynical opinions that literally only you have. Then when people call you out you post a nervous breakdown thread.

The only reason you're okay with this is because it's Peshawar and you're a hypocrite. Any other franchise and I can only imagine your reaction.

And no not everyone's a sell out like you.

It doesn't matter if it's a year or 10 years, people are still dying from this awful virus.

Infection rates are still increasing in some parts of the world, including Pakistan, whilst other countries are going into a third lockdown.

It seems that the lessons of the PSL6 farce haven't been learnt and with the attitude of some of these guys, don't be surprised if another PSL has to be postponed.

Once the PSL resumes, anybody found not adhering to the bubble and the protocols should be kicked out with zero tolerance.

At the moment, the PSL is not being played and they are private citizens in their own homes free to do what they wish as long as they are not breaching any rules put in place by the Pakistani government.

The risk of infection and the risk to life doesn't go away when the PSL stops.

Covid-19 isn't a disease that is around just when the PSL is being played.

The sooner people realise that, the better it is for everyone.

We're going to police what coaches are doing in their homes now?

As long as they're not in breach of their contracts or breaking any other rules put in place by other authorities, they're free to do as they wish.

As far as I can see not all of the pictures are in the homes of franchise owners.

Correct me if I am wrong and if you recognise the inside of the franchise owners houses.

It's not just as simple as breaches though is it. There's a lot more to it than that.

2 PSLs postponed yet these guys will never learn.

Inside and outside their homes, they are operating just like the other 216.6 million Pakistanis in the country.

Fans can demand that they get their head straight and be forced to follow strict protocols in the Bubble and kick them out with zero tolerance if not done so.
