Babar was your highest scorer in you last 2 50 overs WC. Babar was your highest scorer in the last t20 WC. So what does he have to do to make into the this great playing 11 where Salman is the captain?

Babar failed to deliver big time in the last World Cup - he folded meekly under pressure..

Could not play a single innings of substance.. Again, don't quote stats.. he has been useless for the past 2 years..

We need to move on if he cannot regain his form and fitness...
 
Sharjeel is a lost cause but no problem. He can smash his way back in to team if he gains the confidence of selectors once again by performing in domestics.

It's loud and clear there is no place for Sharjeel Khan in Pakistan team, be it under Rizwan Shan or Agha.

Yahaan Daal nhi galne vali.

Saim has some vibes of Sharjeel Khan's style in him. I don't want him to go down the route of Sharjeel though.

Made 5 off 8 balls today against Lions in Champions Cup t20 game.

Still wanna bring him back to the side??
 
Its the hack like Sharjeel Usman the reason players such as Rizwan make their career.

Take yesterday game example had Usman stayed for longer and played a good innings, Rizwan would not had crawled to a 50.
 
Sharjeel not doing well in domestics mean absolutely nothing.

He’s a player for international cricket and international pitches. Not low slow uneven surfaces of domestic pitches and domestic trundlers.

He’s there to smash the likes of Starc, Cummins, Bumrah and he can very well do it on good batting surfaces specially in ICC tournaments.

Most other batters are duds.

Wdym? Rizwan was playing slower then Moses crossing the red sea even before Usman Khan came in? He was crawling to a 50 either way.

Also I heard rizwan talking to the other batters yesterday. He's that loud that I can hear him on tv. I believe it was niazi or tayyab, he outright told them to get the runs while he holds at the other end, something along the lines of

"Khul kei maro, mei aidhar sei sahmbal haha hoon"

Sharjeel and Usman have no bearings on rizzu. Fakhar and Saim are being impacted by Rizwan in t20. Rizwan replaced Fakhar and now he's blocking saim in t20.

For odi he's blocking saud shakeel who's simply a better batsmen but isn't able to make his way into the squad because the management knows that saud is at his best at no 4. No 4 is where the guy avg 40 and strikes at 80+, and they can't have that with rizzu around.

Stats aside it doesn't take a genuis to figure out who's superior between saim, Fakhar, Rizwan and saud.

Saud vs Rizwan: Saud is a bit weak against chest high bounce but is a huge assest in any Asian conditon, Especially considering the fact that he can dominate on spin minefields. Saud yesterday would have chased the score down if he was giving Linde to operate on. He wouldn't be trying to go for Legside slog sweeps on deliveries pitched on the offside.

Fakhar Vs rizwan: Fakhar more inconsistent and is aging now, srill is 100x superior to rizzu, his innings are vastly > what rizwan cam achieve.

Saim vs Rizwan: Only issue with saim is that since hes young he can be a bit brainless at times. Yesterday he got out on a nothing delivery, however his timing and reactions are >>>> rizzu. If he gets set in then it's over for the opposition. He's the only other player besides Fakhar who can instantly win games. A vital assest to have in world cups where RR is the factor of which pakistan have been a victim of Twice.
 
Panthers' Sharjeel Khan scored only 23 off 29 balls against Markhors in the PCB Champions T20 Cup 2024, and some fans still think he is in his prime form and deserves to play for Pakistan.
 
Read somewhere Saim Ayub dedicated his 100 to Sharjeel Khan and that , he took inspiration from Sharjeel batting

Sharjeel Khan's unbeaten 89 in the second innings sealed a 5-wicket victory for Ghani Glass over SBP on Day 3 of the eighth round of the President's Trophy 2025.
 
@Rana , condolences with you for this injustice, a Justice for Sharjeel Khan thread should be good after all there is T20Asia Cup later this year.

Sharjeel might get a chance with Rizwan and Babar about to be axed.

In a world where both Saim and Fakhar were injured, Sharjeel is still beneath the likes of Babar & Rizwan. We’ve been a case for his return for over a year and yet in that period we’ve lost two ICC tournaments. It’s interesting that despite being a consistent domestic performer, he is not on the radar remotely. He has been proving his form and fitness recently in FC cricket against Pakistan’s best domestic performers and more importantly, he has been striking the ball on another pitch compared to all the other batters in Pakistan right now, it’s FC cricket but I feel he is using that format to audition for the limited overs very well. If there’s any justice, he should be recalled immediately, the barrel is bone dry and there is another ICC tournament in 12 months time, at the minimum he should be in the squad as a back up.

Off topic but I've noticed sharjeel has lost some weight while our current players have gained alot of weight.

This was rizwan in 2015.

So I have a genuine question, is fitness not rewarded in PCB? And what on earth do rizwan and babar eat day by day? I'm more concerned about saim ayub hanging out with ba/riz now. Enough of these players becoming far buffalo's.
 
+People really need to get out of this old age experienced guys. They are history, past, done and dusted. We don't need a comeback of a 38-year-old guy. we need young blood, new faces who can serve Pakistan nicely for years to come based on their performance.

I agree but that doesnt mean we don't question Pakistan cricket. Sharjeel Khan would have been the perfect t20 opener along side fakhar from 2020 till 2022-2023 and then he should have been permanently replaced by saim ayub.

He's an aggressive opener at the top and Pakistan needs such openers.

We (Rana, me, Shaz, sultan, emranbabass, tospin) and many many others have been desperately trying to tell you ba/riz are useless for years.

Babar azam should have just played odi and that's it with Rizwan just playing tests.

@Rana lets hope Sharjeel decides finally Karachi kings or isb utd whom he will play for to add more blitz in PSL. A new category will be introduced than Titanium category
 
No Uranium category should be introduced for him.
Only fat guys and fixers will be allowed in that category.

We are looking to get rid of so-called experienced players who failed at big-stage and Sharjeel is another one of those guys who is done and dusted.

You realise the case for sharjeel was extremely weak yet he lost the case despite only circumstantial evidence being present?

It's hypocritical since they've been many cases, most notably the case of the zodiac all being circumstantial and hence an arrest couldnt be made.

I followed that case, and while the case for latif and jamshed was clear as day, it wasn't the case for sharjeel. The 2 dot balls played is circumstantial since its normal for most people to play it.

To top it off sharjeel admitted he only has ties to the bookie by association. He denied ever going through with it nor was any evidence actually found that he went through with it

His case was a ban due to association but once again all evidence was circumstantial. I'm not a lawyer so who knows but as far as I can tell, Only circumstantial evidence exists.

As for fitness, he's in better shape then Babar and rizwan atm which is very ironic. But then again theirs no point in discussing this further as you'll probs get aggressive and respond like a teenager.
 
No we don't need him.
Players like him,riz bar have no further future.Fakhar is almost done.
Saim,Maaz and Nafay should be our long term openers in white ball.

Yep. Fixing is another thing that makes the case weak for his return. PCB should try and move in the positive direction instead of taking steps backwards.
 
Some people are over the moon that sharjeel is scoring heavily in domestics but his domestic records don't suggest that.

He could have been a legend but has himself to blame for his downfall.

I'm saying the evidence was circumstantial. Which is why I didn't like the case.

It's just I'm not aware of how Pakistani courts function and what the laws are regarding that or whether icc has some of their own laws and what not

But typically in most cases like this, you need proper evidence and not circumstantial evidence.

Everyone from witnesses or parties involved either denied it or claimed that they have no idea.

They literally banned him cause he knew the bookie but that's an association. If I was born in 1800 knew Jacktheripper , that doesnt mean I'm automatically a serial killer or an accomplise. You cant arrest me for murder, only for withholding information from the police but even then you'd have to prove that I had ill intent to withhold and not because I simply didn't bother to, forgot to or was too afraid too.

In sharjeel's case theirs no way to prove he played 2 dot balls deliberately. 2 dot balls in a row is standard for most people, even travis head lol.

Sharjeel even said he accepted the ban and stopped going to court cause he gave up, it was better to just accept the ban rather then get harassed on end by courts and being called up week after week.

Not everyone has the mental fortitude to put on a suit and constantly attend courts only to spout the same rubbish even though the jury, And witnesses involved all conclude the evidence to be circumstantial and non conclusive.

It's not the same as butt, Amir and asif which is 100% positive and theirs no defense.

Also a reminder that few months ago, Sharjeel struggled against 40+ legends in the legend (champs) series and against vinay kumar and anureet singh and couldn't buy a run.

He kept getting out same way and it was easy to plan fields for him.

Thinking he will somehow succeed against international bowlers is delusional.

He failed in the final but was player of the match in the league match against India scoring 72 (30). He scored 221 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 193. Could have done better but you can't say that he "couldn't buy a run".

In terms of rankings I would say

1) Saeed Anwar
2) Fakhar
3) Saim (Will probably surpass saeed and fakhar assuming his career goes well, Atm he seems to be far more talented then these 2 ever were)
4) Sharjeel Khan

Imran Nazir as a t20 opener > Sharjeel but sharjeel wipes the floor with him in odi and as a talent he was superior.

Afridi gets an Honorable mention but afridi was just slogging for the sake of it, not a proper player of pace like sharjeel.

As for aamer sohail, ramiz, Babar eh, not very good. Aamer sohail is okay, he had a good purple patch period but otherwise was rubbish.

Can't comment on hanif Mohammad as I've tried my hardest to find clear footage of watching him bat but I can't. Theirs more footage of Bradman then Hanif and that's tests anyway so not really relevant.

Sarfaraz was also very good for a while as an opener. I don't know why they decided to move him down the order but I think sarfi himself wanted it to cultivate the new gen. He wasn't interested in hogging a slot unlike a certain spiritual successor lol.

Sharjeel Fix Khan being glorified here as wanna be Matthew Hayden, is an insult to legends.

Saim is still new let him continue for some time

He scored 35+ in 2 innings out of 7. Once the bowlers figured out how to get him out, all the teams got him out cheaply,.it was that easy to set a trap for him. He was getting out exact same way.

And remember these are all retired, 40+ bowlers, bowling less than 120kph in every team and not even the best retired bowlers.
