[PICTURES/ VIDEOS] Arshdeep Singh - Indian left arm pacer

Cricket experts comparing Arshdeep with Wasim? India should introduce blasphemy laws too.

You could say that about any bowler except Bumrah. He takes wickets. Siraj is a match loser in T20. Avesh is bigger match loser.
Didnt Bumrah lose it in the Champions trophy finals!! :P
Anyone can have an off day in their careers.
Arshdeep does well, but when he gets slogged to 6s by tailenders for no reason sometimes, I lose hope.

Arshdeep not an extraordinary bowler but selectors gave him very long backing and he became reasonably above avg intl bowler

I still wonder how Arshdeep manage to get such impressive stats. 74 wickets in just 49 games with similar average to Bumrah. He gets wicket per 13 balls.

Having said so, he is highly inconsistent and unreliable bowler. Tailenders smack him for fun in almost every match.

India should have invested in Mohsin Khan. He seems to have Better control, speed and bounce. Even Khalil, Mayank and Rana are better prospect than him.

That was like 7 years back. Bumrah was early in his career. His only problem is using wrong variation at critical times. That is the only thing he has to learn.

Neither Khalil Rana or Mayank are better than him.

He is 6 3 left arm.. and bowls to plan given, he has already bowled better than all bowlers you mentioned

It feels like that to me, i used to watch cricket up u til 2017 much more religiously maybe thats why, I can’t even recall 2019 and 2023 losses or 2021 Aus win but 2017 seems like yesterday.
2003 Wc final loss also seems like yesterday.
Exactly?? Its like certain years are lost in memory

He has done what every Pak posters terms as a necessity for being top bowler.
Bowling in KO and man delivered it, so happy for him!

I have debated many times that pace is not everything in T20 cricket. The ability to swing, variations, and using the brain are key, rather than relying on predictable 140+ pace.

That's exactly what Arshdeep did.

Fair play to arshdeep - he had a cracking final. He doesn’t have the luxury of Bumrah’s hype and reputation that teams are just looking to pass him by and give him some cheap overs. He earned every bit of his 4 overs for 20.

He has the second best strike rate in world T20 history for a fast bowler (min 20 wickets)

What a brilliant 19th over he bowled. He bowled well throughout the game but that over was superb. Kept things tight and set the tone for Hardik to finish it off.

Arshdeep singh was 2018 under-19 world cup winner. He was the reserve bowler for India. Same batch as Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Insane the way he has developed, he always very fit but he has improved on his ball placement.

He always swung the ball but he unfortunately needs grooming of seniors..

As per reports:

Arshdeep Singh, the Indian pacer, is poised for a potential Test call-up following his strong performances in shorter formats. With India set to tour Australia for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, this series could mark his Test debut. However, he must first participate in domestic cricket, starting with the Duleep Trophy in September.

There is a real chance that Arshdeep Singh could emerge as the trump card for India, along with Jasprit Bumrah in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

I would pick Arshdeep for Australia test series.

Bumrah, Shami, Siraj will remain my priority but Arshdeep as a back up pacer is a very good option.

Arshdeep Singh is sending a strong message to the BCCI selectors! After being snubbed for the Test squad against Bangladesh, he produced an incredible nine-wicket haul in the Duleep Trophy 2024. Representing India D against India B, Arshdeep showcased his exceptional skills, dismissing key batsmen like Suryakumar Yadav and Nitish Reddy.

I'm loving the way he's taken matters into his own hands after being overlooked for the Test squad. Yash Dayal got the nod instead, but Arshdeep's performance proves he's more than ready for the Test arena.

As a T20 World Cup winner, Arshdeep's consistently demonstrated his abilities. His Duleep Trophy exploits – 6 wickets in the second innings! – should give selectors food for thought.

But surprisingly, the selectors have stuck with the same squad for the second Test against Bangladesh. Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack, but I think Arshdeep's made a strong case for himself.

What do you think? Should Arshdeep get his maiden Test call-up soon?

Arshdeep Singh at the pre-match press conference ahead of the second T20I against Bangladesh on Tuesday said:

“I am enjoying my game and didn’t even realise how these two years flew by. I just try and stay in the present, enjoy the highs and lows, that is my focus,”

“My life’s mantra is to enjoy the present. Today is my rest day so I will enjoy my rest today. Kal ka Kal dekhenge (Will think about tomorrow when it comes). The T20 World Cup is two years away, very far I don’t think much about the future,”

“I want to do my best in all the formats wherever I get the opportunity,”

“It gives opportunity to the players to explore their skills. How he can take wickets in different ways, how to absorb pressure."

“Playing in different formats teaches players a lot. In red ball, you get more overs to bowl, it teaches you patience, here (in T20s) you don’t need patience, you have to think about what a batter can do.”

Very good t20 career. Hope he makes his mark in longer formats too.

He is an average bowler at best. Should be keep in T20.

Doesn't have the calibre for ODI or Test.

Has matured into a reliable bowler.

About time he’s considered for test crickets

Arshdeep Singh Named ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year (2024)

Arshdeep Singh has been named ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2024. The 25-year-old left-arm pacer was India’s leading wicket-taker with 36 wickets in 18 matches. His standout performances, including a crucial role in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup victory, highlighted his ability in both the powerplay and death overs. Arshdeep’s impressive economy rate of 7.49 and a strike rate of 10.80 solidified his reputation as one of the game’s best T20 bowlers.

He has cracked the formula for T20 pacers and thus will be paid maximum amount of any T20 pacer in world this year.

Left arm angle, swing and chance for early wkts with new ball, accurate yorkers and ability to bowl 2 overs at death with old.

His skillsets wont really translate into ODIs or Tests where he will just be another ok bowler but is an irresistible pick in T20s.

If Marco Jansen can develop thicker skin and yorker ability he can become as good a draw as Arshdeep and with added hitting ability

Deserved a new thread on it ;)

Congratulations Singh the great . Totally deserved it .

True, we all remember what Arshdeep did in WT20 final. I remember how Arshdeep was so impactful he won man of the tournament.

Star Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh entered his name in the history books on Friday (April 18) by becoming the leading wicket-taker in the IPL for Punjab Kings. The left-arm pacer needed one wicket in the ongoing IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to take the No. 1 position in the list of leading wicket-takers in the world’s richest franchise cricket league for Punjab Kings, and he achieved the objective by dismissing Phil Salt on the third ball of the 14 overs per side contest.

Some of y'all are just confused. You'll say India relies heavily on Bumrah for their success and then in the same breath say that Arshdeep is more impactful.

Very sound logic , I must say.
Arshdeep, Bumrah ,Varun and Kuldeep - what a bowling attack for 2026 world T20 . :kp

I won't even dignify this statement with a counter argument.
Don't get me wrong here. Bumrah is too good of a bowler that too in all formats but I rate Arshdeep pretty high as well. Not saying that he is better than bumrah by any means.

Hope for maynak .he will be real handful against sena .its fun against pak .I will like vipraj nigam also in the auditions before wc as he is hard hitting batsmen and leggie.

The smoothest bowling action in world cricket. Great talent and great attitude. Fitness also top notch.
