Wow. Ben Stokes' catch in that Ashes Test match where Stuart Broad was on fire was also a great catch.

Steve Smith had just 0.75 of a second to react to take this catch of Kane Williamson in 1st Test at Perth (2019)

Steve Smith - The outstanding catcher

This deserves a thread of its own.

His catching is outstanding.

In this season itself he's taken like 3-4 one handed blinders

Fantastic test run maker and a great fielder!

The sandpaper gate tarnished his image significantly and he lost his spot as the Ozzie captain, otherwise who knows, he would have been competing with Kohli for possibly the most influential player of today's time.

Average ODI and T20 player though.

I won't say average ODI player but he is decent.
He has WC on his name.

His career is far from over. He has good 7-8 years of cricket still left in him and he is already one of the greatest test cricketers of all time.

This thread wouldn't be complete without saying Virat Kohli is a average-poor catcher.

He's way more animated but makes a fool.of himself by dropping catches.

Tendulkar was a super safe catcher. I only ever saw him drop.a catch against Sri Lanka in 2002 champions trophy final and the same day he took an absolute blinder of his bowling. He was angry at himself still.

Of course, he has minimum 5 years more unless his hand-eye coordination goes down rapidly. But he is unlikely to get the captaincy again.

That's what separates him and SRT (since you mentioned) from Kohli who like Imran Khan is building a great legacy as a leader.

Agree that SRT caught well. Definitely not the best fielder in his side, but a safe fielder nonetheless.

SRT wasn't a memorable fielder though. Jonty, Ponting, Gibbs, Jadeja, Yuvraj, Kaif, etc. There were many great fielders across his 20+ year career who overshadowed him completely. Frankly, SRT was never in the same league as these guys.

Roston Chase Catch Wahab Riaz-Bowler Yasir Shah.

Outfield, running aside and watching the ball when ball is behind you and timing the jump and dive so close to the boundary. Dont know how did it happen.

That's one of the best efforts in the field I have ever seen

Pakistan’s catching and boundary fielding has been superb in this series

On the fourth ball of the 39th over, Hanuma Vihari edged a rising delivery by Kagiso Rabada towards short leg, where Rassie van der Dussen put in a perfect full stretch dive to his left and caught the ball above his head.

The first T20I between West Indies and New Zealand on Wednesday saw some exceptional fielding by the West Indies players at the Sabina Park in Jamaica. Shimron Hetmyer set the tone with a one-handed screamer to dismiss New Zealand Martin Guptill and what followed was another brilliant catch from his teammate Hayden Walsh Junior. The latter took a sensational catch on square leg to cut short Kane Williamson's stint at the crease. Odean Smith bowled a short ball to Williamson and the latter, who was batting on 47 off 32 balls, pulled it towards square leg searching a boundary but Hayden Walsh's stunner deprived him of a half-century.

CIYMS Cricket Club's Jason van der Merwe and Jacob Mulder took the internet by storm after combining to produce a stunning catch on the boundary rope in a European Cricket qualifier against Dreux. Adam Kennedy bowled a juice full-toss and Dreux's batter Ahmed Nabi managed to get a clean connection onto it. However, his shot could only go as far as deep midwicket, where van der Merwe was deployed. The Irishman managed to grab the ball after a backward dive, but realised that has already crossed the boundary line, while being airborne.

This prompted him to throw the ball towards Mulder, who was charging in from the cow corner region, and he juggled the ball before overstepping the boundary rope to complete the catch.

Corey Anderson's catch of Tanmay Srivastava in 2008 under 19 world cup semis was extraordinary one. Sadly, i haven't found any footage of it on YouTube.

This one from Steven Smith to remove Virat Kohli on Day 5 of WTC23 Final was spectacular

Denzel Clarke pulled off one of the most ridiculous catches you’ll see

Athletics center fielder Denzel Clarke is no stranger to making incredible plays in the outfield, but what he did on Monday night against the Los Angeles Angels puts him in the "catch of the year" conversation.

Clarke nearly flipped over the center field fence to rob Angels' Nolan Schanuel of a solo home run, wowing the crowd and everyone watching in the process.

Even Schanuel was in awe, as Clarke scaled the wall, made the catch with his entire upper half over the wall, and spun himself back around to land on his feet on the warning track.

Naturally, Clarke let out a roar when he landed back into the field of play, as one would after pulling off a catch of that rarity.

"Oh my God!" one of the Athletics’ announcers said when Clarke made the miraculous play. "I’ve heard the list, I’ve seen the list of the greatest catches you’re ever going to see in your life. If you don’t have room for this one on your list, we’re watching two different sports."

For me it has to be Ponting as he's honestly the perfect player.

Despite the indian propaganda i view Ponting as the most complete cricketer in history who was bogged down by poor form at the end of his career.

Clutch batsmen in both odi and test, amazing captain, amazing fielder.

Easily the greatest cricketer of all time. Maybe de villers was more complete as a player but ponting has more records

Andrew Symonds up there with the best, mate. A 6'2 monster with freakish fielding skills and athleticism.
