Australia has finally ended its 10-year wait by reclaiming the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Australia defeated India by 6 wickets in the 5th Test match to seal the series 3-1, thus ending India's journey to the final of the World Test Champion Trophy.

Well played, Australia

Time to win the WTC final as well now.

Congrats. Fair result. They scheduled perfectly and shockingly they were 1-1 going into MCG. MCG was INdia's fortress for 12 years. ONe stupid shot resulted in loss. Also Rohit's pathetic captaincy. We lost that too. SCG was quiet unusual SCG wicket.

Congrats Aussies, can we please remove the indians from this picture, lets have a picture with australia 3-1 in 2024/25 to honour this present moment. No bharat in this thread please :kp

Congrats, Australia! Really enjoyed the series. This series will haunt both Rohit and Kohli for a long time.

Congratulations to Australia but more importantly thanks to Australia for bringing arrogant Indians back from sky to earth.

Most funny moment for me in this series was when Indians celebrated that follow on avoid like they won the world cup.

Minnows mentality. LOL.It was very funny

India are very lucky. 3-1 flatters them because the actually scoreline is 4-1. They should thank the weather.
If the weather comes in Aus wont have a series win in India for more than 50 years, I’m ok to take 4-1 here if 2004-05 series becomes 2-2 .

You don't travel to Australia and expect to win a Test series by including passengers in the team. BCCI needs to blame themselves for India losing this series.

Regardless, fantastic performance by Australia. They deserve every bit of their victory.

The aggressive fist pumps by Kohli and co after avoiding the follow-on was memorable. Sums up the series for them.

Ultimately, it was our better bowling depth that won the series for us.

Indians left too much to Bumrah and it eventually led to him breaking down in the 5th test.

We were able to spread the load better. Having a bowler of Boland's quality in reserve is pretty handy. Also, fantastic leadership from Cummins once again.

Congratulations Australia.

They could've won 4-1 if it wasn't for the rain.

Anyways the series was very enjoyable and hard fought. Bumrah single handedly kept the series alive till last day. Several Indian players should be disappointed with their performance.

Fortress for 12 years is a bit over the top man. How many matches have they played there?

Fantastic achievement from the boys.
Indians in the corner: But but but but

Jaiswal will have a better career then Travis

Bumrah was injured and he's > Mcgrath cause we say so

We have a trophy cabinet too

Konstas is a bully, kohli and siraj are victims

It was just a fluke

We beat Australia for 10 years

You're just a pakistani so cry

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Any other excuse that I'm missing?

Maybe we should add sandpaper cheater smith as well. Sandpaper smith wiped his sandpaper all of India in this tour. 🤣🤣🤣

Let them blow hot air all they want, mate. We will keep racking up the trophies like we always do.

The better team won, 👏 Indians wouldn't have been in the series at all wasn't for Bumrah.... Now the Indians can take some positive knowing this will be the end of Goalee & Korma.

Congratulations to Australia. Bowled superbly.

India didn’t deserved to win. Good that they managed a win in first test only thanks to Bumrah’s performance.

There should be two BGT trophy. Aus is behaving like champion but they cannot win in India. There should be one trophy in India and one in Australia. This is fair.

What makes you think they can't win in India? Didn't India recently get whitewashed by NZ at home? What does that tell you about team India?

NZ is not Australia lol. Last time they won was in 2005 when Tendulkar did not play a couple of tests and one test Australia was saved by rain. That too 1-2 margin.

Pakistanis on this forum celebrating as if they have won the world cup. I got 5-6 mention notifications this morning to rub it off on my face from fans of a team who is yet to draw a test match there since 1995. Just unbelievable. If being minnow mentality has a face :ROFLMAO:

Nevertheless, congratulations to Australia for winning a test series against India at home with the help of umpires after 10 years. It was indeed a great series.

It's ok,

Indians will always have control over them, zero test match wins in Aus for over 25 years for Pakistanis.

:qdkcheeky

Yeah no need to overly celebrate. India competed well at points. Hope you aren't too sad about it brother it was a good series and India can be proud of some individual performances.

Did Aussies won a test series in India with these players? Last time they won there was in 2004.

Now, that’s a real challenge. India were the only country in last 6-7 years to give Australia a run for their money in their backyard by beating them twice while at the same time Australia were beating rest of the nations black and blue. Finally, Australia won a home series vs India after a decade. Good job, well played!

But tomorrow if India beats Australia again in India, we won’t see anyone creating a thread and say the same about Australia as to how it is embarrassing for them and their struggles against India has become the story of cricket now.

Your arrogance has been your downfall. I don't follow Indian cricket much but everytime I come here and see Indian fans hyping up Indian team and mocking Pakistan, it's usually followed by an embarassing defeat.

Yes thank you brother. India played brilliantly in this series and Bumrah has given best bowling performance ever seen on Australian soil since West Indies tour of 1970. Not often a player from losing side gets man of the series. A few umpiring decisions here and there, if howlers like Jaiswal's dismissal in last test were ignored, the score line would have looked much better.

Yea.. In a way it is creidt to India that match finished in the last innings of the series. INdia was still in the game even with ace bowler missing. That is a massive achievement when you consider mid series retirement, captaincy fiasco, poor team selection, injury, over the hill players. Inspite of all that India had a chance to level it. So winning a home series for Australia has become some sort of miracle for them :) If only Rohit had never returned we would have been singing different tune.

This series was pretty much Bumrah vs Aus... Scary thing is had a few things went India's way it could have been a drawn series, that's the impact Bumrah had on the series.

However I think Indians may have rode Bumrah to the ground.

If Marsh plays the last test, I reckon it would have finished 2-2, mate. Webster was a crucial selection in the end.

To be precise Pant's brain fade. Match was heading twoards draw. Australia almost gave up. They were waiting for new ball. 10 more overs they would have drawn. That shot came as a dagger in our heart not to mention the drops and insipid captaincy to allow cummins to score 41 & 49. Boland, Lyon to wag.

Where did you see Pakistan getting mocked in my previous post? I am talking about Border Gavaskar Trophy. Australia are a top team and should be able to beat an Indian side in transition in home conditions. They did it, I already congratulated them for that.

And we are not even complaining or demeaning Australia here. Fairly accepting that they played better cricket and deserved winners. Of course it’s our problem who played and in what form he played. But losing to Australia anywhere in the world isn’t an embarrassment except maybe in India for India. They are a top side.

I don't think it was that close. Not sure why Indians are saying this series could have been won or drawn. It was a pretty one sided series where Ausralia won most of the sessions, India didn't even come close to winning, not once. Australia won by big margins. India is lucky to be 3-1 not 4-1 in this series. That one washed out match was a guaranteed loss for this Indian team

Yeah bud Mitch really overstayed his welcome.

Saw Border at the presentation ceremony, his movements were not normal, looks like the Parkinsons is starting to take hold, sad to see 😢 . Alan was always a class act.

You are speculating India can beat Australia at home. I don't think that's true. I think India on at current form can be defeated easily at home as proven by NZ.

But only reason fans are little upset because we are used to beating AUstralia in Test series. Even though we knew we didn't have the form team to compete you can't help think of "what if" scenarios given the superlative performance of Bumrah singlehandedly masking all the on field and off field issues.

Just because NZ beats INdia doesn't mean Australia will beat them lol It was one of the most embarrasing captaincy in Indian history.

If they beat us, I will accept. Right now they beat us at their home. Rest are if this can happen then this has happened which is not exactly how cricket works. A can beat B and B can beat C. This doesn’t necessarily mean A can beat C too.

End of the day Indians only have themselves to blame. When Kohli and Sharma kept playing it pretty much showed Indians didn't deserve to win.

Tbh, I wouldn't even call it a great series. There was alot of average cricket played during the series with some great moments sprinkled in. In the end, India had alot more poor moments than us, especially, when it mattered.

Didn't follow the series much but everyone was talking how Bumrah has been over bowled, checked for once & he has bowled like 150 overs only. Two months & 5 tests and a total of 150 overs where in between tests there were at times multiple rest days available.

Cummins, Siraj, Starc have bowled more.

I don't think it's an overload by any stretch of imagination.

15 overs an innings, 30 overs a match.

My point was more around reliance to get the job done, mate. Our bowlers shared the responsibility to get the job done whilst, India overly relied on Bumrah. With the short turnaround to the Sydney test, looks like his body wasn't able to fully recover in time to go at full tilt again.

Thandaa!

But I've honestly enjoyed the cricket. Real men enjoy the cricket, boys cry over not achieving their desired result. In a game, one team has to loose. You often expect your opponent to to lose, but that doesn't happen everytime, does it?

As expected, the better team wins. And we weren't the better team.
Tbh Bumrah impressed in this series.

Still can't believe India went in with Sundar and Jadeja on a green spicy wicket as they called it.

They did fight well but that is mainly because of Bumrah alone. If he had not played here you were probably looking at 5-0. That is not my words, just listen to indian cricket channels like Sports Tak.

Respect to Konstas

Man of the series for me. Guy installed belief in Australian batting order against Bumrah at least. It’s often the people least expected to deliver the killer blow that helps you win the war.

The witch king of Angmar was practically immortal in battle, as no man could kill him. Yet he was eventually slain by a woman posing as a man! The fall of the witch king, and Sauron was left exposed without his chief lieutenant!

Konstas was the one who slayed the witch king in this battle!

Who is Sauron in this analogy ?

Yeah....what you say could be true....

the same as the rain in Sydney in 1992 ODI WC....

or the no ball in CT 2016...But any ways...glad you enjoyed the series of two real skilled teams and the jazbaa.....when the real World champs and world beaters in every discipline except for doosron ka saazish, the real purveyeors, originators, inventors, discoverers, copyright on everything that is related to 'phasst baaling' conceded 600 odd....not to mention 0-15 consec, 0r 0-9 consec or whatever the stuff of legends records might be in the Sena nations......
Indian fans will still enjoy Gukesh Dommaraj win in Chess thereby becoming the youngest ever WC winner in chess...(but that is an intelluctual sport...a bridge too far for the pack here...) which will prevent them from wearing black into the new year...along with other badminton & other triumphs...but choddo yaar...
Bring on the Champions T...let the games begin...cheers mate :)

Congratulations Australia. Watched the highlights of every day's play and it was an engrossing series. These two teams seem to bring out the best (and worst ?) out of each other.

Ball generally dominated bat with only 2 batsmen averaging above 40 in the series (exc. Webster's one-off appearance). Obviously the quality of bowling is a factor, but Australian Test pitches are a world away from 5-10 years ago when even Yasir Shah scored a ton. It's now becoming one of the hardest places to bat in the world.

From what I could gather, there were just more contributions across Australia's team than India's with the visitors heavily reliant on Jaiswal and Bumrah.

It's not just one tour too many for Kohli and Rohit but 3 years too many ! They average 33 and 30 respectively since start of 2022. I don't mind on-field aggression but Kohli's behaviour was deplorable on this tour. Seemed like he decided if he couldn't score runs, his role was to be a pantomime villain.

Bumrah was majestic but lacked backup with nobody else averaging less than 30 (exc. Krishna's one-off appearance), whereas Cummins was ably supported by Boland and Starc ensuring they didn't miss a beat after Hazlewood's injury.

Konstas is a lunatic which makes him very fun to watch. Smith looks to be returning to form - thankfully that opening experiment has been canned.

Interestingly both teams are entering a transition phase. India's side of the late 2010s-early 2020s has reached the end of its lifespan (it's 6 defeats in 8) while Australia will soon need to rebuild their bowling attack as next year's Ashes could be the last hurrah for Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon.

Long live Test cricket.

"What Do We Know?": Sunil Gavaskar's Fiery Rant After India's Series Loss Against Australia

Legendary Indian cricket team batter Sunil Gavaskar launched a scathing rant following the side's series loss against Australia. India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years following the six-wicket loss in the Sydney Test on Sunday. The defeat also meant that India were eliminated from the World Test Championship (WTC) Final race with Australia and South Africa now booking their berths for the summit clash. During his analysis on Star Sports, Gavaskar was reminded of the fact that during the series against South Africa in 2024, he advised the team to use the domestic Test matches to prepare for the series against Australia. However, the Indian batters looked mostly underprepared on the pace-friendly pitches Down Under and Gavaskar was left emotional while making his point about the performance.

"What do we know about cricket? We do not have any idea about cricket. We just say these things for the television. Who will listen to us? We just say these things. Actually, there is no point in listening to what we say. Whatever I have said even now, please just let it go over your head," Gavaskar said.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was frustrated at missing out on bowling on the "spiciest wicket of the series," but the premier India pacer emphasized that sometimes it becomes imperative for a player to respect his body.

Bumrah could not bowl on day three when India needed to defend a small 162-run target on a tricky wicket.

Australia needed just 27 overs to overhaul the target and claim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years as they took advantage of Bumrah's absence.

"It was really frustrating but sometimes you have to respect your body, can't fight it. Disappointing, probably missed out on the spiciest wicket of the series," Bumrah said, who was named Player of the Series for his 32 wickets in the series, during the post-match presentation.

"Felt a bit of discomfort during my second spell in the first innings and had to check it out." Resuming day three at 141 for six, India lost their remaining four wickets for 16 runs to be all out for 157 in their second innings.

Terrific Series win by Aus, they showed true fighting spirit and lifted themselves at the crucial moments, all through out the series.
Scott boland- what a champ -was the real difference at MCG andSCG....wonderful series and congrats to all aus fans - commiserations to all indian fans....

Subcontinent teams continually mess up selections in SENA. Not sure when they'll ever learn.

Age is catching up with him—should he be allowed even for commentary? He’s talking rubbish these days.
