[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Modern day celebrations by cricketers

Pakistani players and their obsession with mediocre celebrations

Absolutely embarassing to see Pakistani bowlers picking up cheap wickets with their team trailing by 500 runs and celebrating as if they have won the world cup.

Really cringeworthy as a Pakistani fan to see this silly celebrations. I'd rather they focus on their performances on the field.

Thoughts?

Let them celebrate "choti choti khushian"..

Hassan Ali doesn’t clearly care his team are in such a dire position. He’s happy he’s taken a wicket and secured his space for another game. Tell him stop playing cricket and go celebrate on the waga border

I know we must be cruel to criticise personal celebrations. But as a fan, I really need to see some professionalism from the players.

You are representing your country, and your team is being hammered to all pieces. Put the cringe celebrations to the side for the time being and be switched on.

Pakistani players play for themselves, nothing new here.

I personally don't see the need for any celebration style.

Cricket has changed. This is not 90's.

Honestly, that celebration from Hasan Ali today was next level marasi.

Hasan Ali's celebration is horrendous. His screams after taking a wicket make it even worse. Pathetic.

There is a time for celebration. Celebrating when your side is 400+ runs down (hassan ali) or Sajid celebrating Khawaja wicket when he got out on 160 makes a mockery of celebration.

Exactly it also shows the mentality of the players.

Every player has its own way of celebrating, whether a batter or bowler, on a cricket field. Similarly, a video of Serbian cricketer celebrating his wickets in a unique way has gone viral on social media. Ayo Mene-Ejegi, who plays for Serbia, has a unique way of celebrating his wickets. In a video shared by ICC, Ayo can be seen making a ground flip before lying straight on the ground with his hands wide open.

"100 wicket celebration from Serbia's Ayo Mene-Ejegi," the video was captioned by ICC.

If I have to pick one which I hate the most is Aamer Jamal's , absolutely absurd.

Aamer Jamals celebration the worst of them all, it looked very awkward and accidental when he first did it in this seasons PSL.

This is how Bumrah celebrated a wicket today against Afghanistan.

bumrah-rashford.jpeg

After the match he was asked by reporter:
"And also, can you talk about your celebration that it was quite like Rashford, if I'm not wrong?"

Jasprit Bumrah replied:
"Nothing like that. I just felt like it, so I did it."

My top 3 favorite celebrations:

1) Wasim Akram's celebration.
2) Shoaib Akthar's celebration.
3) Brett Lee's celebration.

My top 3 least favorite celebrations:

1) Nagin dance (very feminine and stupid celebration).
2) Hasan Ali's generator (very cringy).
3) Dahani's celebration.

What type of celebration is this? Pinky Finger, LOL

--------------------------

England cricket team batter Joe Root slammed a gritty century to guide his side to a solid position on Day 1 of the fourth Test match against India in Ranchi on Friday. Just after reaching the milestone, Root celebrated by showing his pinky finger towards the dressing room where skipper Ben Stokes repeated his gesture. This exchange goes back to the 2022 Test match between India and England in Edgbaston where the duo clinched the game for their side and celebrated in this manner for the first time. The celebration is inspired by legendary entertainer Elvis Presley, Root had earlier revealed.

“I don't think I'll ever be able to feel or look like a rockstar but for 10 seconds I might have done, that's what the little pinkie was about. Ben watched the Elvis Presley film the other day and he's been doing that all week, so it was a little tribute to him,” Root had said after the Edgbaston Test.

After Lahore Qalandars' Tayyab Abbas's shooting celebration following the dismissal of James Vince, I fear they might impose sanctions on him, lol.

Rate the celebration of Abrar Ahmed out of 10.

NdQDrR3.png

Since it’s against a bunch of rookies, I’ll let it slide.

It’s a look at me celebration which only the OG Afridi could pull off, when anyone else does it, it looks a bit cringe.

Overall, I’d give it a 2 out of 10, no jump and fist pump, no eye contact with the batsman, no pointing towards the batsman’s pavilion, no look of anger or hunger for success, no hair movement.

A lot to improve on for Abrar, but I see him going down the same route as Hassan Ali, Shaheen, Rumman and Dahani.

Rohit sharmas walk to grab the trophy was soo cringe.....

Whats with it with indians trying to copy others.

Champions trophy 2013 copying west indies and now i think they were copying messi

Their grabbing a trophy, not making gen Z memes.

Ric Flair's twitter account claimed Rohit's celebration as his :dhoni

I would post it here, but apparently you can't xD

Most cricketer celebrations are pretty cringe. Cricketers try too hard. Other times they are just copying footballers.

I prefer the simple but iconic celebrations like those of Shoaib Akhtar, Shane Warne, Waqar Younis.

Its the cricketer and his performance that makes the celebration iconic. Not how unique or over--the-top it is.

"Kids And Women Are Watching": Navjot Singh Sidhu Fumes At Travis Head's MCG Act

The echoes of Team India's defeat in the 4th Test against Australia are going to be heard for a long time. The repeated failures of seniors like Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, and irresponsible batting from young stars like Rishabh Pant resulted in India going 2-1 behind in the 5-match series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was Pant's dismissal that is said to have changed the course of the game in Australia's favour on Monday. The wicket-keeper's departure also prompted a strange celebration from Australia star Travis Head, who was credited with Pant's wicket. Head's gesture, however, prompted a backlash on social media, prompting former India cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu to slam the Australia batter.

Head's gesture became a big talking point on the internet, with several fans calling his gesture 'obscene'. Navjot Sidhu also hit out at the Australian cricketer saying women and kids were watching the match. Hence, he should've abstained himself from the act.

"Travis head's obnoxious behaviour during the course of the Melbourne test doesn't auger well for the gentleman's game...... sets the worst possible example when there are kids, women, young & old watching the game....... this caustic conduct did not insult an individual but a nation of 1.5 billion Indians......stringent punishment that would serve a deterrent for the future generations needs to be slapped on him so that no one dares follow suit !!!," Sidhu posted on X (formerly Twitter).

In the press conference after the match, Australia captain Pat Cummins shed light on Head's act, explaining Head meant that he was putting his hot finger into a cold cup of ice.

" I can explain that. His finger is so hot, that he is going to put it in a cup of ice. Yes, that's what it is. That's normally the running joke. Was it at the Gabba or somewhere, where he got a wicket as well and just got straight to the fridge, grabs a bucket of ice, puts his finger in and just walks in front of Lyno (Nathan Lyon). Just like that, thinks its very funny. So that's what it would have been, nothing else," Cummins said in the presser.

Sajid Khan, while addressing the press conference after Day 2 of the first Test between Pakistan and West Indies:

"He [Kevin Sinclair] imitated my celebration after he beat me with a ball. I was glad to see him doing that, and it’s always nice when players, even kids, imitate such celebrations. Even players like Kamran and myself do it. I would love to see Babar Azam and Rizwan doing it after getting five wickets in a match!"
