Still diesnt warrant him a place as a battong all rounder , his bowling needs to be good. Cant have someone averaging 40 with the ball @economy close to 4 and average 27 with the bat.

Remember you have to take all 20 wickets to win a test match. If you are not a wicket taker you sbould at least be able to contain the opposition.

Thats why i would play 4 fast bowlers and shadab your 4 fast bowlers should be taking 80 percent of the wickets in new Zealand and should be bowling the first 2 sessions or just below 2 sessions.shadab like i said is a batting all rounder in tests.its hard to contain in new Zealand as the pitches are flat you can hit throw the line

plus too.much T20 cricket has affected his bowling a lot im adverse way , he needs to get his flight and turn back. He is too flat these days.

How do you get your flight and turn back can you get this back by bowling t20s or tests ?

Why was the Shaheen 4 day game cancelled for this pointless excise of a game.

I would Have talat at 3 and leave hafeez at 4 but you never know the management might pick iftikhar and push hafeez and rizwan up to 3 and 4

Iftikhar Ahmed made 102 off 48 balls

Abdullah Shafiq made 38, whilst Hussain Talat made 24 runs

Faheem Ashraf took 2 wickets whilst Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Hasnain took 1 wicket apiece

In this type of game, only specialist batsmen were asked to bat whilst bowlers were given different targets to bowl at.

His part-time bowling completely excluded, I think he still makes the team on merit. His performances in Australia last year, as well as cameos in the PSL and national T20 cup, all prove that. Statistically, no one who batted at a higher average had a higher strike rate in those tournaments than Iftikhar, once you filter to players who play between 4-7.

The real question is whether we want to sacrifice short term performances to give a long rope to a youngster. Iftikhar’s fielding and fitness is also a concern. Can he improve these attributes, and can he last us the next 3 years? If he can’t make the 2023 world cup, I’d rather back someone younger right now.

Him doing well is not very good for Pakistan in long term. Although not quite impressed with Khushdil yet, but his mishits could go for sixes in NZ grounds. Seeing our players getting injured already, I would be cautioned to play Shaheen in every game here. Just give Wahab, Hasnain, Haris, Amad or Talat the go here. Tests are more important here.
